I saw the musical 3 days ago in Toronto and people wasn't claping or something.

That musical was awesome the best ever and the people that went from my school were in toronto waiting for our bus for an hour and our student teacher liked the girl that played scaramouche and he got to meet her it was great!!

i believe the term is actually "understudy". As in, Danny Balkwill is one of the understudies for the role of Galileo in the Toronto production of We Will Rock You.
