Why is everyone so concerned about the setting? From what I understand, part of the plot is going to revolve around modernization ruining bending, and Korra's attempts to save it. So maybe we aren't supposed to welcome the change, but feel bad that the world we once loved is dieing, and cheer for the hero that is trying to revive it.
