  • I saw them on this tour, in the land called Yougoslavia, that was before the war on the Balkan, so strange to think about today...

Was an amazing concert, one of the best of my lifetime.

  • 2:10 lmaoooO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! me and my friend where laughing for like 10mins lmao we allmost peed ourselfs

  • I love the complexiity of this song with all the layers; want to hear another good artist? Check out Alia Christain in my top 3 and subscribe to her channel please!

  • If you break it down it's not complex at all, but it gives you that feel. The bass line is very simple. The drums are mostly just providing a rhythm, the guitar has a few more complex bits, but mostly is simplistic. The keyboard is actually just mimicking the sound of water. Then it has what sounds like a cowbell. And background vocals. But I'll tell lthat my body sure is dam well moving. I LOVE it!

  • Love this song, they used it for Chuck Vs The Suburbs and have to say it was kinda cool.

  • 2:10 HE VIBRATES

  • ...maximum rock...great audio...

  • i dont want to be "that guy" but mewithoutYou did a really cool cover of this song. If you feel so inclined i suggest you check it out. And this video is great...nothing cooler than the spastic dance moves...im suprised it didnt take over the world. everybody do the "seizure"

  • A really fantastic classic, one of the best!!!

  • why are the talking head videos so weird, but good

  • I love this song and David Burnes performance as well...a true classic

  • I can't even imagine being there. This song is transcendent!!

  • If I had to pick a favourite song from the Stop Making Sense DVD, this might be it. It's a toss up between this, Girlfriend Is Better and Psycho Killer. Fantastic concert DVD.

  • Native Melody.

  • you mean naive melody? this is the place?

  • Naive Melody, right. I always get that wrong. Still the best song on there though!

  • oh femtondeseptember, we are so sorry you didnt like the video. next time dont watch it and you'll feel much better. now go take your medication and take a nap.

  • so is being 19.

  • its part of its "charm" , in context most ppl do not see it as a flaw

  • the SBD dubbed to this video sounds fucking amazing.

  • rocking epileptic ....

one of the all time best live album & video

  • Talking Heads!

  • A legend. Need I say more.

  • same as it ever f was... oh how true! !!

  • "La musica mi rende...epilettico!" (D. Byrne)

  • Even after all these years it still gives me chills.

    Way ahead of their time.

  • Genious.

  • Genius.

  • in the beging of the vid david muscle spaz.....muscle spaz muscle spaz......muscle spaz

  • Me too. Let's touch P.P.'s and fuck!

  • David Byrne is the best dancer ever to have lived on this planet.

  • Agreed. I only wish I could equal his dancing prowess.

  • yes david byrne, take that bump and freak out!!!!

  • SAME AS YOU'LL EVER BE

  • same as it ever was

  • one of the few bands that broke up before completing all they needed to say im amazed they played at their HOF induction

  • im 16 and this is one of the most enthusiastic performances iv ever seen...this is how performers should be.

  • They still remain one of my favorite bands even after all these years. They showed me what music could be at an early age.

  • Erm, I really want the offiical video to be on here. I've paid for the song. Twice. I just want to be able to see the vid.

  • best performance i ever saw

  • The start of this song just fucking rocks, and the whole song is awesome!

David Byrne is in the Zone!

  • haha the glasses

  • byrne>life

  • david byrne is god

  • this was on chuck

  • That's Mr Byrne :)

  • the singer is amazing

    the moves are great

  • rock band-ified!

  • great track//its the sample for jay z its alright on vol.2//peace

  • Notice how Byrne's lyrics, delivery and gestures are much like those of an old-fashioned, stylized preacher - albeit a very amphetamine-drive one! He's almost like an epileptic that is really in tune with the rhythms.

  • His antics are just about epileptically perfect. The thing I'm wondering is why did they stop putting up "Making Flippy Floppy"? Amongst all the great tracks that came from this video that is truly my favorite.

  • How to make looking like a nerd seem cool

  • scatologic

  • Once in a lifetime...are songs like that written.

  • I like your pun. :D

  • Too bad the live version has a different bass line and drum beat. I really admired the recorded version for that...they took the easy way on this recording...check it out.

I think his movements are over-emphasizing what the song is about...an epiphany. Its like getting smacked in the head with reality..waking up to reality..."how did i get here..." my 2cents.

    Excellent song!!

  • Excellent observation-I feel the same way;The drums & bass on the original IS the track- Wish bands didnt change things when they play live?

  • depeneds on the act some bands are known for improvisation live while some cant cause they use sequencers live the heads just play tight and the rerely use them

  • once was given a large compliment, told I looked like bass player

  • his perfomance stop making sense

  • Dancing? Seizure? You'll know what he's doing if you're ever stressed out enough. There's The National Anthem and now there's this THE LIFETIME ANTHEM; so please rise and put your hands up, waving wildly.

  • amazing song, great performance

it's a pity they can't put their differences aside and get back together i'd love to see them live

  • closest thing you'll see was david's recent tour where he preformed songs from the Brian Eno albums (More About Buildings and Food, Remain In Light, and Fear of Music)

  • Time isn't holding us time isn't after us.

Thats all i need to know.

  • A MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!!!!....

  • this video is the first to ever be admitted to the washington smithsonian. quite an accomplishment for music of this age. no one else can claim this

  • This is news to me. Where did you hear/read this?

  • My God! What have I done???

  • That was incredible! Truly epic! I loved this song the first time I heard it, but this performance rockets it to superhuman proportions! I don't think I am exaggerating here, this is great!

  • you are not exagerating, as it is the first song of modern music to be admitted to the smithsoneon in washington

  • This is the shit! I love that bassline! The first time i saw the orignal video,I said what the Fu xx? They grow on you.

  • great tune from a great band. they need to reunite.

  • what an incredible song i love it!

  • every track on stop makin sense is dope

  • absolutly right what u say- i agree with u....keep in Talking Heads- hope to see them in Germany soon

    Peace

  • I LOVE this song talking 2nd best after beatles

  • That is so f*cking awesome, THANKS. I'm 45 and was at this concert, dancing in audience with a gorgeous, sexy little sweater-wearing 1980s college library girlfriend. Now I'm in another part of the world, living in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife. Great song.

  • Awesome post man!

  • fkn awesome band man. video for burning down the house is trippy as

  • You're lucky, these guys are awesome, wish I was alive to see this live lol.

  • man i love the talking heads greatest hits album, i think its really appreciated ya know

  • briliant dancer

  • y'know, his performances like this were modeled after epileptic seizures.

  • This explains so much.

Well, not really. It explains his performances, but not much else. Cool trivia I guess.

  • i like smoking weed to this tune

  • true true

  • I enjoy reading Nietzsche to this tune.

  • Epic, epic performance. Just... wow

  • And they say white folks don't know how to dance.

If you weren't around for the 80's and want to know what they were all about, just watch this video.

  • I was a teenager durring the 80's, literally, I turned 10 in 1980 and 20 in 1990. I never really appreciated The Talking Heads when I was a kid - now, as an adult, it is really superb and true.

  • So glad i found that song via the tv show Chuck. Hourra for Chuck season 3!

  • PSS.....Package @4:21....(laughs)

  • I remember this song from when i was a kid watching the movie Down And Out In Beverly Hills...............So this song is heavily associated with that awesome flick 4 me........

  • I want whatever he's on...

  • water... ;)

  • You mean cocaine?

  • wonderful

  • David Byrne is--and always has been--sexy as hell.

  • musical genius at its finest

  • this guy is wild

  • lol i know

  • Fucking AWESOME.

  • Fucking coke kicked in at 5:04

  • coke rush at 2:13 hahahaha.. :)

  • i laughed so hard when i got 5:04 after i read this hahaha

but yeah he is just very high on life throughout this whole show

  • and by life you mean acid.

  • It is necessary to lend, an ear to it every day!!!

  • have you seen kermit the frog doing this song? Its hilarious.

  • Oh man, thank you! I checked out Kermit's version of this song and was amazed! That made my day!

  • So does anybody have the original MUSIC VIDEO for this song? Not from Stop Making Sense, like the corny 80's one. And Talking Heads were anything but racist, they had black people in their band, and they were strongly influenced by African music.

    David Byrne is awesome.

  • I LOVE that music video.

  • Italian super car, French château, model women,MONEY TO BURNhmmm

This is it! Why am I not happy???

  • very very good bands should be stealing these notes moves etc..

  • "Stop Making Sense" - the movie from which this is taken- is a cool one. Well worth seeing. David Byrne & the other Heads took quirkiness and weirdness to their highest musical form. Gotta love 'em.

  • LIMBO at 4:30!!!

  • Lol at 2:08 he should have had a V-8

    anyway good vid!

  • Seriously? How is this song offensive? I really need to know. Oh yea, nobody, including Obama, will ever be able to do anything about racism. It's a part of life. As a black man, if you don't understand that fact by the time you reach middle school, you'll never get it....sorry. But I really need to know how you find this song racist.

  • last place i expected douchebaggery(which made me laugh)

  • Hey mindless douche...the guitar player is black so chill out on the douchebaggery a bit will ya?

  • This was directed at the guy spouting racism earlier.

  • Amazing performance. I need this DVD - I have a worn out VHS copy lol.

  • hahahha so do i

  • Good song ! One of the greatest bands ..

  • You Dont really mean that - this is a track that /cant be bettered can it ? - as you say it does 'FUCKING RULE' - YOU do not want any of us to Die( I agree most of us are cunts) - If I have to die do you know what song I want at my 'Funeral' Talkinhg Heads' - " Heaven' - coz it means the exact opposite of what I was brought up to beleive in - and it would be great played very loud ! I

  • ...what?

  • Ignore my remark - I thought I was replying to a comment about 'Talking Head's' track 'Hevean'- sorry

  • u grew up in a happy house, didn't u?

  • Just goes to show, that music cna be pleasant to listen to without having vulgar or profane lyrics. Silly is ok, I like silly.

  • agreed... I'm guessing that you don't listen to very much rap music?

  • OK, it says water flowing UNDER, as it does everywhere...fuck what you think of the Heads if you cannot get the drift of the lyrics.Rap is dead, hip-hop killed it and its too bad that posers have a voice and start believing they are gangstas. WHITEY PLEASE! stop interpreting lyrics!

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe that is just the irony of the song, saying you shouldn't let the days go by..I Don't Know, that's what I was thinking. Maybe why the song is so genius. And I don't listen to rap music or vulgar music and I am very in touch with the world.

  • This is a masterpiece

    THIS IS RELEVANT.

This is not my beautiful yacht.

This is not my beautiful wife.

This is not my beautiful life.

    Water flowinging under....

  • give anything to see these guys come back!

  • Jay-Z sampled this song for "It's Alright"

  • Saw Dave live a few years back, he's only gotten better. =0)

    violinists, oh it was awesome!!!

  • only you would realize that.

  • I gave it 5 stars.... you're telling me 4:15 isn't just a little strange?

  • Dumb argument?? Mordimier this is a great song im more on your side. Tom Shut the fuck up if you dont like the song dont comment on it.

  • Strictly speaking, this is a good song. But you cannot censor people just because you disagree with them. If they dont like the song, they have every right in the world to post a comment, just as those of us that like the song do.

  • awesome song. awesome performer.

  • Masterful, he's got it

  • DB's performance is even funnier upside down.

    Nice April Fool's, YouTube. woohooo!

  • this song is fucking trippy.. A+

  • great.

  • this is my favorite song of all time by any artist. well, second ONLY to "mystic rhythms" by rush.

  • thankyou! thankyou! thankyou!!! This is just a great song and david byrne has to be one of the most entertaining performers ever!

  • lmaooooo, the entire video made me laugh my ass off!

  • David Bryne...you are truly one of a kind.

  • what a great

  • lmao 0.33 to 0.45

  • It's amazing how completely different this is from the exies cover. It's weird how the lyrics are the same and the song has such a different effect.

  • one of the best songs XD

  • Is it just me or does the lyrics of this song make so much sense now that we're facing a Housing crisis and possibly another Great Depression. The song, to me, talks about consumerism and materialism and how our lives' DAYS GO BY pursing crap we don't need with income/credit that we don't have

  • It's not a housing crises it's a corrupt banker and politician crises. Watch Money as Debt, if you haven't already seen it, and tell everyone you know.

  • same as it ever was

  • This is just like a preacher with the choir. Amazing song!

  • super song-super spastic spasms

  • SONG? hOW ABOUT bYRNE?

  • Still a catchy tune!

    :)

  • Man, this song is great. Makes my miserable life seem more mediocre.

  • Ask yourself, "Am I letting the days go by?"

  • Well, I've been sitting here, comatose, for the last 5 days just staring at this youtube clip, waiting for a response to my comment.

Am I right? Am I wrong?

MY GOD! WHAT HAVE I DONE?

  • It's not like we are 'letting the days go by'....they are gonna go by no matter what. The real question, and I think you nailed it, is 'What have I done?"

  • if you gave this a negative rating, you're an idiot.......

  • naw

    WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!

  • You know, I did not appreciate this song until I saw this performance during a showing of 'Stop Making Sense'. I started to cry in the theatre. The way they performed this made me understand the profound lyrics.

I guess it also made me experience the power of true art.

Thank you David Byrne and the rest of the band!
