  • Congratulations!!!! Keep them coming my friend. Keep up the good work.

  • Great Goffin/King song. This girl was so underrated it's not funny. I didn't like any of the 'quicker' covers of this song.

I just wonder if Duffy has heard this version. This is how to sing soul with style.

Should have been a monster hit but sadly received little or no airplay at the time.

  • MAX we went to Michael Hartigs Acting class.I never had the nerve to tell you what a great voice you had.

  • There is no comparison to that time. The young say stuff like.. that was then, this is now. I say and that is to bad. haha

  • I love this song - I was 17 in 1965 and it brings back so many great memories. It's a song I'd forgotten all about. This is about the 20th time I've listened to it ! Thanks for posting it.

  • BLIND LOVE 'IS A SLIPPERY SLOPE

  • Love all of MB's music-one of my favorite DVDs. Easy to swing 2 step or close cha cha together. Thanks.

  • I just want to thank everyone for listening and subscribing to my channel. Maxine Brown's song "Oh No Not My Baby" was the very first one I uploaded. You have all helped it to reach my first 100,000 view milestone for a single record! I will keep on trying to upload songs that we all loved, danced, and sang to, back during the truly magical rock and roll years. Again, thank you for all your positive comments!

  • @TheMissj15 I'm with you I Love pop from the 1960s and the 1970s! And I hate any type of Modern music!

  • I was a junior in high school when this record came out. Blue light parties in the basement....decorating your locker at school...ban-lon knits....doin' the bop (can anyone besides me still do that dance?). Life was simple and sweet back then. Thanks for the memories.

  • This is the real deal...real music. I bought it in 1964 and still have the 45 today. Thanks for the post!!!

  • still keep coming back and playing this little gem, over and over again, must've worn my copy out years ago, but it'll never go away, ha ha, bought it on pye international back in december 64 after hearing it in the last chance saloon, in oxford st, oooweeee !! makes me feel young again ha ha

  • you know what ? every time i come back and play this song its like i just got here and heard it all for the first time, i'll never forget what this tune did for me when i first heard it back in the day, its in my book of magic R n B memories, this and betty everitte, " getting mighty crowded " ha ha early 60s, wow ! what a time ?

  • @Sheven718 This was my very first upload...just a lil' over a year ago now. Thanks for your great comment...it's sentiments like yours that keep me wanting to find more gems to upload. ;o)

  • Manfred Mann had the hit version in the UK.That versions good but Maxine Browns is the best.Such a great song by a great singer.

  • oh ! lets get it right , there have been a few versions of this " little gem " but nothing ever came close to maxine browne's rendition, jerry goffin/ carole king, roused a giant with this one, an absoulute R n B classic, from 64 , the old days, wow !!!!!!, the scene, last chance saloon, and, la discotheque,

  • Goffin-Kings best song. Back in the day when some Jews helped Blacks and Blacks might have liked Jews some. Jews might have been insensitive to Blacks resentment and not wanting to be steered or determined or controlled or be made or be Maids. We had a Maid and years later she said my family was the only decent Jews and she hated all Jews except for us. Stung but a nice roundtheworld compliment. Hey sorry to offend or be controversial .. nah I'm not really. I am just a terrible person.

  • i have been in love with this song ever since i heard her sing it in late 64, i had no idea it was dion and dee dee that backed her on it , one of my all time faves from back in the day ??? the scene, last chance, and la discotheque,

  • I LOVE IT......LOVE HER VOICE

  • Great song from Maxine Brown. Back then we had the Nighthawk show on local am station WBSC. This song was a favorite with all high school kids, including me.

  • oooo a stereo version.

    Thank you....

  • you're Right ! it's written by G.Goffin- C.King

  • I believe Carole King wrote this one--great song!

  • 1965 was a good year for me.

  • @raydogg1able hw old r u??? 54 i guessing

  • @TheBeatlesfan2231 I am 63

  • yea ' this song hits it right to the truth trust in knowv man

  • Maxine is one of the greatest

  • SO FABULOUS.

I LOVED IT THEN, AND LOVE IT NOW,

MY FRIENDS SAW MISS BROWN AT THE APOLLO!!!

    MANY THANKS.

    LJD

  • Fantastic song! Can't imagine a better song and I've been trying to imagine one since I heard this one long ago Only #24 in 1965. Well back then there was so much great music to compete with but still only 24??? Nuts. Rod Stewart does an overlooked version of this that is great too.

  • @11xzxzxz The song first charted on Oct 24, 1964, and peaked at #24 in 1965; and remained on the charts for 13 weeks. Indeed, a great song !

  • @futykoolz OK thanks for the info

  • @11xzxzxz And I just uploaded Rod's version too. It peaked at #59 in 1973. Hope you like it!

  • @futykoolz Thanks a lot for Rod's and the original Maxine Brown as I hardly ever like live performances.. Thanks again so much.

  • @11xzxzxz The real reason was, It was hard to get black music played on the radio and tv.These songs were #1 in the black communty, but there were only a few black radio stations and dj's around the Great USA and that why black music was taken and re-recorded by white artist and then it became a #1 hit and the original artist didn't get any credit for their songs, Some people were kept so in the dark abt. black music until when they finally heard it they thought it belonged to the white artist

  • @twinsis58 Well I agree with your points and they are solid ones but would just ad that sometimes there is not just one or two reasons - biased or lack of exposure - but other reasons. Say Sam Cooke's 1963 Change is Gonna Come (one of the best songs of all time) didn't make it in 63 but I think in 1965 it climbed higher on the white pop charts .. but there was increased awareness of the need for change from a lot of directions ...

  • @twinsis58 Cont. ..such as women's right, human rights, more knowledge of psychology and more books written on a deeper level and probably drug taking too..ha etc. Probably the fact that most people don't want to hear meaningful deeper songs and prefer not to think too much is just a fact of life and most people do not recognize the great melody of Sam's greatest song and would rather listen or dance to "Having a Party". And Sam's "Bring it on Home" was a very big hit on white pop charts.

  • @twinsis58 I was there, and everything you said is correct.

  • @TheARosemary did you used to go up west back in the day ?

  • Oh...how very great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi futykoolz, thanks for the mail and song, Right now i'm trying to find a Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles 1965 song titled "All or nothing", from their second album, but I can't remember the name. Can you find it PLEASE? Thanks a million!!!!

  • @paulibeva "All or Nothing" was also released as a single [Atlantic 2311]... and reached #68 during early 1966.

  • futykoolz, thank you for posting this song. I've been looking for this for a whole year with no luck till now. Thanks!

  • @paulibeva You're most welcome! This was my very first uploaded song, so I'm glad that people like it! I've learned along the way...and now have about 2 dozen or so out there. Hope you like them!

  • @futykoolz hi futykoolz, thanks for your reply. I am still looking for that upload song you posted "all or nothing" by Patti Labelle. If possible can you post it again for me? Much thanks Pauli.

  • @paulibeva I don't have that song...so I didn't upload it. Sorry for any confusion. That song, "All or Nothing" is on the album "Over The Rainbow" Atlantic 8119. And I believe it's available on a CD. Hope this helps.

  • thank you for uploading this song!!!
