Well, This is Very Interesting... However... I feel that this Tool Takes something Away from the Actual Performance Dynamics of Playing and Tuning for yourself.. After 40 Years of Playing Guitar, The Experience Should Not be Warped by Too many Tools Such as This... All though Very Cool... I still think this Takes Away From what we are Trying get From the Experience...I.E. MAN MADE MUSIC...
So you feel that man should not be able to change tunings to his own man-made discovered tuning, in the middle of his man-made song because that would be warped :) I assume you play then acoustic and not a man-made electric and certainly don't use any man-made pedals. : )
Sorry to Insult your Product... I am just old fashioned and just have not had a chance to get used to something like this... I Mostly play Electric Guitar. Charvel, Schecter, Fender, Kramer and Ibanez. Through a Marshall Stack.. I use an Old Digitech RP-3, Boss Chorus and Metal Zone.. Maybe if I watch more vidios of this product I will Understand It Better...
First thought that comes to my head is what about the guitar neck? I know when I re tune guitars the different tensions of the strings sometimes means I have to tweak the truss rod a little bit. Also, I just hate abusing guitar strings. However, I watched one of their videos demos with Chet Atkins and it looks like interesting fun. One reason I don't play around with odd ball tunings more often is because I am so very lazy.
I own one of these, and can tell you it's the best purchase I ever made. And those of you who think this is a system to keep the guitar in tune: You really piss me off. Yes, it does that TOO, but the point of it is to have all the tunings you can imagine at your fingertips. In seconds!
Have you ever played live, and had to use different tunings? I have, and I had to bring several guitars kuz i didn't want to tune during a live set. Have you ever used a stomp box? Well, they are all just tools. Whether you use them or not is a personal choice. No need to bag on it.
lighteningboy... i think tuning doesnt show of ur musical talent too much, so it wont be too bad to let robots do that. Playing guitar requires musical talent, soo umm, i wont let robots do that. and dont you use an electronic tuner anyway? pretty much the same thing but more work for you.
Well if you are leting the "robot" doing everything for you then there is no need for you at last. But the important thing about learning to tune is that your ear gets developed. And i think that is a important thing. What if you come to a freind place, and you gonna play something..Well you better bring whit your self tuning guitar then:P
No this product is not made by, nor created by Gibson. You may be noticing that many of our installations are in Les Pauls. We are TransPerformance, inventors of, builders and installers of the tuning system you see demonstrated in these videos.
the Gibson product is absolute garbage!THIS THING BLOWS IT AWAY! I have seen and played it myself,,as have the members of my band,CREEDENCE COUNTY ROCKERS ,and this thing will revolutionize guitar playing like NOTHING before !
They are slightly different concepts though they achieve a similar output. This is the TransPerformance, which is digital with a touch pad, as you can see, and tunes to chords. Whereas the /Gibson/ product is actually a product by Tronical. Which is for popular open tunings and standard tunings, just for ease of use; it also does the intonation; again for the ease of use.
Actually, completely different concepts. We use a completely different tuning technology then Tronical. TransPerfomance does not only tune to chords helraizer, we tune to any string value 9 half steps above and below standard. Including opens, chords, or anything else you program for that matter - and hold just about 400 tunings in memory.
I used to hang out in Fort Collins, Colorado, with the guys who invented this, no joke!! It's killer. Check out Jimmy Page (as mentioned above) and you may even find some old Dave Beegle stuff, as he used to demo the guitar for people when it was first invented. Cool as hell, man!!
ok thats cool but where is the * play fun*

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Hell yes!

No thanks...I will tune my own guitar rather than bung it up with a bunch of silly tech-war nonsense.
Why not just make the guitar play itself too...I bet they are working on that too....

Fair enough. I take it back.
400 is ever so slightly better than Tronical, which can hold 6 =P This seems much better, in that case. What is the cost of these systems?
