@Caesar0031 The problem is with our over specialised education. Science geeks stay on into the sixth form and study three science A-Levels including maths. In more enlightened schools they would be expected to study General Studies as well and take part in physical education classes and/or voluntary work. Many of them don't even have English at GCSE. In France they study for the Baccalaureate and even if they are specialising in science they have to study English and French as well.

I do things the old fashioned way and rely on land lines (though I communicate by e-mail as well) and pen and paper to record information when out and about. When going somewhere unfamiliar I take a map and compass not a GPS.

Despite my beliefs that I have explained in regards to this subject, I do also believe that we are leaning towards transhumanism and in the future it will become a reality. It is clear you are taking things out of context in the video, just to try to make him look bad. It is just blatant fearing mongering on your part. For example saying he wants to kill babies, that isn't what he said. He was saying that by current definition the baby wouldn't exist as a human anymore. In a very real sense, the baby is still alive and perfectly healthy, and will end up greatly benefiting from the increase in intelligence. In his example the baby never dies.

@Caesar0031 The problem is with our over specialised education. Science geeks stay on into the sixth form and study three science A-Levels including maths. In more enlightened schools they would be expected to study General Studies as well and take part in physical education classes and/or voluntary work. Many of them don't even have English at GCSE. In France they study for the Baccalaureate and even if they are specialising in science they have to study English and French as well.

To continue I thought "how could they make us". But it seems the only way to avoid television is to stay at home or only go out to the countryside. You are even expected to have a TV licence whether you have a television or not.
The people I cannot stand are those who socialise but spend their time ignoring their friends to talk on their mobile phones and use lap tops in public even when in company. It's like sitting there with a newspaper held up covering your face.

@BoyintheMachine Totally agree. I don't even have a mobile phone that works because I keep ruining them. I do things the old fashioned way and rely on land lines (though I communicate by e-mail as well) and pen and paper to record information when out and about. When going somewhere unfamiliar I take a map and compass not a GPS.
What worries me is that there are television screens on everywhere; city centres, pubs, cafes & buses. An ex boyfriend told me that we would be forced to watch TV.

Übermensch was the idea of Friedrich Nietzsche, not Adolf Hitler. Hitler stole the label and completely butchered the point behind it. Nietzsche heavily criticized antisemitism and German Nationalism.
Most of the issues you bring up have to do with poor corporate ethics and problems with society in general. It's likely that by the time this type of technology is actually available most of those problems will have been weeded out. If not we probably won't survive to see this become a problem.

Of course there are risks, as there is in internet. It is 20 years after mobile phones were invented and people are still testing their harm factor.

Eugenics is how to change the human from WITHIN the lines of the genes. Transhumanism mostly involves the insertion of foreign components.
At the most eugenic CAN be a label within the group label transhumanism, but at no point are they both, totally and only the same..

Wait, what? The solution to the "terminator problem" would be people becoming cyborgs? Huh? No, that's a false dichotomy; if AI and robotics developed to the point where we had an android that could pass for human, then the rest of technology would inevitably catch up across the board; improved weapons on one side leads to improved armour on the other, and vice-versa. Same with espionage and counter-espionage, crime and prevention, and so on.

Thats such a fail analysis. Incase you didn't understand what I was saying let me rephrase. We already have a super computer (our brain) and instead of trying to work on expanding our mind and building up the percentage that we use, we are wanting to resort to brain chips to do it for us. Thats failing our species.

Our brains are finite-state machines, with discrete limits.
Sure, there's some marginal room to expand, but, not really much.
That's like saying we shouldn't drive cars because we should learn to make our legs more efficient OUR LEGS WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD, because there are inherent physical limits.
You obviously don't know much about computer science.

Our brains processing speed is 100 million MIPS (Million computer Instructions Per Second) while the latest supercomputers only have a few million MIPS in processor speed. Computers can store information, process information, do certain tasks,do mathematical calculations, figure out algorithms and the such.

And no, we're extremely limited.
Try doing two discrete tasks at the same time with each lobe -- you can't -- crosstalk!
There are some fundamental design flaws in our brains, that we can't simply "will ourselves" out of.
And, it's just a problem of scale.
We'll be able to virtualize the complex logic of the mind one day soon.

What I mean is, our brains, and all matter in the universe, is deterministic, at least, I believe so -- we could theoretically predict anything, with enough data.
This is kind of important, see, transhumanists do actually make some assumptions about the underlying fabric of reality.
And we certainly do know the limits of our brains.
I could give you simple tasks right now that you'd fail at.

In fact we don't have the technology to measure what neurons are saying to the recieving cell because it would necessitate simultanious recordings of hundreds of cells. And its a FACT that science doesn't know how many neurons it takes to send a signal from point (a) to point (b).

People can get brain chips and whatever else they want in there body. It’s your choice. But by doing that you start evolving (for lack of a better word) into the path of becoming a robot (also for lack of a better word) and start phasing out what makes us human. We are giving up on our species and turning towards becoming something else.
