I own some rack (w/o keyboards) synths (Waldorf and Roland).
In the search for a sequencer for my set-up I was wondering, can I use the pads of the MPC as a keyboard for my Rack synth, then record my performance in the MPC and then use it as a sequencer for my synth ?
Hey, I had a question. I'm considering getting an MPC 1000, but the only thing is I'm not too big on sampling. I like to make my own melodies and beats. I was wondering, if you have a drumbeat on the MPC, can you record and quantize something from say, a keyboard over top of it and loop it?
@17DM Programing the original was alway kind of a pain. I Recently picked up a Dx200 that actually has knobs for most of the settings, making life much easier.
@gogoralphy just some quick time stretching to with a pitch shift to speed the sample up but keep the pitch about the same. I've been out of town for the last few weeks doing film festivals and traveling for work but i plan on knocking out a few more mpc videos when i finally get home this weekend. Thanks for watching!
the dx7 is probably one of the worst synths to make an argument agains soft synths with as it's a very digital sounding synth. most of the gripes for VST come from people arguing that true analog synths sound more fat blah blah blah. though that is slowly being shut down with synths like d-cam synth squad etc. modeling actual circuits. good video though.

Your probably right, my old roland would probably have been a better unit to demo.
If you like the dx7 sound the dx200 is another great fm synth.

Did you use the vst in standalone mode? Or did you have to pull the vst up in a host program? (like FL Studio or Cubase or somthing like that.)

This is really interesting! Also, it's refreshing to see the MPC being used to play something other than hip-hop.
