  • The transcription is easily available through GSP.

  • Yes this is John Williams' transcription.

  • I'm looking everywhere for a copy of the sheet music for this. If anyone has it I'll do a swap for a rare transcription of the Allegretto from beethovens' 7th.

  • beautiful version though I still prefer the violines etc.

  • Fantastic!

  • I dunno. It's no less "stringy" than a piano, and Brahms himself made a transcription for piano solo. It's a real finger breaker, too, requires a huge span to pull off.

Does anyone know who did this transcription for two guitars? The performers, or someone else? While it's pleasant listening, it seems a little disappointing as they seem to have ditched some of the contrapuntal lines in some of the variations.

  • So far I know that John Williams arranged this for his historic duet with Julian Bream. I also remember to have seen the first page and Williams's name on it.

I have listened Bream-Williams version many times and I like it very much but I have to say that this version is very good too! I have enjoyed listening and will have my duo partner checking the score to include it in our repertoire.

    Congratulations to Zohn-Franzen.

  • Let's have more of the great composers on guitar!
