after i jalbroke my 3gs and everything was working fine when i did a hard reset and tried rebooting it with black ra1n after the whole blackra1n process it just goes back to the itunes usb screen ( ive tried countless amount of times)

@livetubepro im pretty sure it is. you are ultimately just restoring your iphone/itouch with the current firmware you have, but with cydia and/or icy on it. So it isn't tethered because you don't have to re-run PwnageTool after you jailbreak it. Hope this helped!

To everyone who cant get in DFU mode and get a black screen after using Pwnage. When this happens disconnect the usb cable, press the home button for 5-10 secs and connect the usb back, then the go to itunes and you should see your "iphone" this time. Then press alt and click restore. It worked for me.

@kechup13 you will have to first uninstall and reinstall itunes. then once that is done you want to go ahead and hold down the home button while plugging it in you will have to finish the restore once you start there is no way to reverse...
