I would've watched this in the early 2000s for sure. Now, it seems somewhat redundant with Kim Possible having run its course, but still seems cool. I definitely feel the Cowboy Bebop vibe as well.
sooo.... they axed it because of a 30 second clip in the pilot? Yet we have movies featuring terrorists and criminals with hostages and nuclear bombs? o.O Wow. Just wow.
A LOT of shows like this get a pilot like this but are never picked up. Adventure Time pilot almost had the same fate until Cartoon Network decided to pick it up.
Actually --- you guys got it wrong why both these series were canceled. I did some deeper research into what actually happened and it turns out that the animators were being treated REALLY badly by Nick. A large number of them decided to unionize and Nick fired them for unionizing and canceled the projects they were working on. That included Constant Payne, Invader Zim and a few other series that didn't get pilots. Using the "911 scare" stuff was just a convenient excuse.
wow this came out around the same time as sponge bob and fairly odd parents. they are still around today. wow. knowing it would of been the first anime styled american cartoon makes it even more bogus. 9/11 is a terrible thing and all but it makes no sense not to air a show because of two buildings. this is one episode not the whole series. remove that scene and its all good. am i right? its not like it would of been in every episode. that is bull shit.
Well here is what they can do: Re work the pilot, try pitching it again. It should not suffer because of something like this. It deserves a second chance, then we would see if it would stand up on its own.
I understand the description says it didn't air because of 9-11, but it seems it would've been so easy just to edit out 3:55 to 4:13. It wouldn't have hurt the continuity of the story. Kept off the air because of 18 little seconds? What a shame.
If they could some how revive this series. In another universe, cartoons in America would be at least this quality instead of the crap on today like Adventure time and every other piece of crap
I think pulling the show completely was a bit of an overreaction, they could have just edited the buildings...After all, there have been plenty of alterations to other media with more direct references, such as cutting the scene of a web between the twin towers that was shown in the trailer of the first Spider-Man movie, it wasn't necessary to pull those works completely just because they had the towers in them.
@RiorXD That is a very good point. They do have Fairly Odd Parents every now and then, other than that you right. Sponge Bob or live shows like iCarly and Victorious which I don't mind.
Pretty sure the episode of Cowboy Bebop "Cowboy Funk" was censored/banned/whatever after 9/11. It didn't feature any planes, and didn't have two towers destroyed, but it DID feature the "Teddy Bomber" (himself based on Ted Kazinski aka the Unabomber), blowing up a connecting bridge between two identical towers. If they were willing to censor something as vaguely similar to 9/11 as that, then yeah, they could pull this too. Pity.
its just dumb, most probably very few people whould have see any ressemblance with the towers, plus if it was such a big deal they could have edited that part, but i guess 9/11 was that big at the time
You mean Taipei Tower. Looks more like that than the Twin Towers...but it would have been awesome, yes. Oh well, there's always...um..at least we have...uh...Damn.
I think they passed on it because of all the cliched writing. "First name, middle name, last name, haven't I told you before about interrupting me when I'm working?!" "Good help is so hard to find." "Oh, no! I'm late for school!" Not to mention the grating valley girl accent of the lead. They passed on this and made Avatar the Last Airbender. Great trade-off, far as I'm concerned.
9/11? That's some hyper-sensitve reasoning to not air this show. Amazed you're even allowed to say skyscraper anymore... shame, this is a cool show, compared to most mind-numbing bogus crap that spills out of America onto televisions world-wide.
@TURB0THUNDER Simply put, it's simple. Lolz. They send these episodes, movies and other materials to places like Blockbuster, Reviewers for Newspapers and websites, etc, hoping for some free promotions. The discs that contain them have "not for resale" written across of them. I have a few of these thanks to my Mother-in-law winning some storage auctions. Nothing too spectacular in there, but it's kind of nice to have a version that's rare.
So ... WHO is the focus of this show? I would guess the main character is the girl, but her father is clearly the hero. It's like reverse Inspector Gadget.
I would have watched it. And this seems like it would have been a great show for those born in the 2000's to look back at and say "Remember that show growing up?"
@Hellfire918 Oh plz, after 9/11 they cancelled the Pokemon episode which had a giant ass Tentacruel in it. And all it did was slam its tentacles into some skyscrapers, saying that a giant jellyfish attacking buildings was a 9/11 ref
I guess 13 henchmen died. However, my verdict is this show had (still has) great potential, if the writers could pay attention to some niggles and details. Even kids would wonder about the unconscious henchmen in the exploding dirigible, the auto pilot being completely fail (a scientist curing world hunger wouldn't have made such a short-sighted judgement), or the girl fighting on the front of a moving airborne vehicle sans-safety gear.
No, don't rescue the dude who just about fell to his death and is now precariously perched on top of a flying machine. Go investigate the hijacker first.
This doesn't seem bad, and I liked the very end. I don't like the name though. Says the wrong thing about the show and its corny. I think it might have worked.
It really bugs me that this never made it but THEN they went for Kappa Mikey, when this looks a thousand times better and is far more entertaining... This is actual animation, not stock poses of a character only drawn a certain amount of times. They also did a really nice job of making it look like actual anime, so I hate that this never aired. It would seem that they're only going for crap on tv these days, anyway...

@loverofmonstergirls Hell yeah! And they used to use that kind of between-the-buildings movement in a lot of sky-race-chase-scene episodes of shows; it was one of those "TVtropes" before there was a name for them!
this seemed pretty awsome. i would hope Nick kept a hold of the pilot because it would be a shame to let this die out for having something that would people of 9/11.
@Darthwin1 I say we contact the creator and tell him to give it another shot with CN or Hub or some other channel that still appreciates cartoons rather than hokey sitcom-for-kids craps that have another schmaltsy "special" every three weeks.
Let Nick start on this thing again and air it because 1. there have been a few current shows that had 9/11 references(sorry if I offend people when I say this) and nobody gave a fuck about it(or other words didnt mind it) 2 It would help the ratio of cartoons in nick cause there are hardly any good cartoons on nick anymore and 3 even if this cartoon is barely good,I can assure you that it will increase nicks ratings even if it will be only 10% of the ratings, thumbs up if you agree
@EBILGAMER There are a few but I'll point out two cartoons cause I find these two easy to remember. One cartoon that had a 9/11 reference was called The Secret Saturdays,i think i got the title right, and they had a similiar situation like this show, driving a huge blimp that almost crashed into skyscrapers, and the cartoon South Park, one episode had alot of references like one scene where all these terrorists were killing jersey people by crashing into them with planes.
@dragon345543 There is no need to cuss out someone for voicing an opinion. And I doubt this person was trying to communicate 9/11 meant nothing. Oversensitivity can be just as problematic as insensitivity
@dragon345543 Thousands of people die EVERY day. The USA invaded Iraq and murdered HUNDREDS of thousands of people who were just trying to defend their homes. People starve by the hundreds in every country in Africa; Syria is in a state of open war for no reason; people die in earthquakes in Haiti and hurricanes in New Orleans. 9/11 was NOTHING SPECIAL. Just another day at the races. We Americans are spoiled whiny fucks and the rest of the Earth has no sympathy for us.

@Darthwin1 I say we contact the creator and tell him to give it another shot with CN or Hub or some other channel that still appreciates cartoons rather than hokey sitcom-for-kids craps that have another schmaltsy "special" every three weeks.

@ProjectXA3 amen but I think Nick has the rights for this
I wonder what the guy that makes this is doing right now

@ProjectXA3 cartoon network doesn't really care about good cartoons anymore either
so hub would be a better option

Let Nick start on this thing again and air it because 1. there have been a few current shows that had 9/11 references(sorry if I offend people when I say this) and nobody gave a fuck about it(or other words didnt mind it) 2 It would help the ratio of cartoons in nick cause there are hardly any good cartoons on nick anymore and 3 even if this cartoon is barely good,I can assure you that it will increase nicks ratings even if it will be only 10% of the ratings, thumbs up if you agree

@circusmonster123 wich shows had 9/11 references?
EBILGAMER 3 weeks ago
@EBILGAMER There are a few but I'll point out two cartoons cause I find these two easy to remember. One cartoon that had a 9/11 reference was called The Secret Saturdays,i think i got the title right, and they had a similiar situation like this show, driving a huge blimp that almost crashed into skyscrapers, and the cartoon South Park, one episode had alot of references like one scene where all these terrorists were killing jersey people by crashing into them with planes.

9/11 was a decade ago - let's put this show on the air now. Thumbs up if you agree.

@EnvisionerWill Fuck you. Just because it was 10 years ago doesn't mean thousands of people didn't lose their lives you fucking insensitive ass
dragon345543 4 weeks ago
