  • Back then players were tougher than they are today, they atleast get up from their hits

  • Wish Webb was still playing for us.

  • webb is my uncle

  • none of those hits were suspensions he led in with his shoulder planted

  • 90% of these hits would be suspensions now...

  • @TheGamegangsta2 - wendal clark would've been suspended for life in todays game. different president - different rules!

  • @TheGamegangsta2 They really wouldnt be. Maybe one of them... (That one against the Rangers int he corner, he kinda hit the head, everyting else was clean, maybe a little late but the opposnentsgotta keep their jeads up)

  • hockey used to be awesome

  • @Bulkmaster27 - IT GETS BETTER EVERY DAY!

  • Praise the lord for MUTE

  • Fuck that wigger music, should have just used the crowd reactions as sound. Islander fans went gaga for webb

  • @nyr36 - i heard you love high sticking in your crease and hitting from behind.

  • Steve Webb looks like a cheap shot artist. Rob Ray should have knocked this bum out. Oh yeah.... he did.

  • @ThePowerWithinMe - wendel clark looks like a cheap shot artist. randy mckay should have knocked that bum out. oh yeah....he did.

  • @ThePowerWithinMe buddy you havnt amounted to anything in your life, you're a failure and thats why your parents hate you..

  • @Tr0llinghard After looking at your page I feel bad that you have so much hatred towards to the world. I think your post is a cry for help is more reflective of you than anyone else.

  • @ThePowerWithinMe lol good one...

  • this clip and its maker is gay for webb

  • i love seeing tucker getting his shit fucked up

  • don't mean to be a downer but the fleury hit was a blindside hit to the head. Half these hits are charging too

  • i say he comes back just for ranger games so he can beat their asses

  • after all that his career ended pulling his back out putting his hockey bag into his trunk. we miss you Webber.

  • @spazemunky - weird stuff like that happens all the time. he most likely had back problems for a while.

  • Steve Webb is the best Islanders tough guy theyve had in the 90' and early 2000's other than Eric carins. I was there the night he went on the crazy hit spree against the Leafs and from that night I wore Steve's number 20 for the rest of my hockey career and I tried to hit just like him. Thank you Steve you are the man

  • cairns and webb were nightmaric beast

  • Fluery was a fucking pussy who deserved is ass beat...

  • steve webb is my coach right now

  • Hey does anyone have a steve webb fishermans jersey for sale

  • ive skated with webby a few times, he's alot more skilled then you would think, shows how good the guys in the nhl really are

  • While he was one of the dirtiest hitters in the league and got away with a lot of charges, he was up there as one of the hardest hitters in the league. Funny how the rivalry that started between Leafs/Isles died off fast.

This series and the following Leafs/Sens series were the only reason the Leafs didn't make the finals that year, the physicality of those two series left the Leafs as easy pickings for the Canes who had a cake walk against Montreal in the second round.

  • @kingrich51 - the reason why the rivalry died out is simply because these two shitty teams can't make it into the playoffs.

  • @ghytgb the reason these two teams can't make the playoffs is because the Rangers are being run by Glen Sather and the Islanders Owner doesn't take this shit seriously

  • @zonkedforlife2 - the rangers sucked before they got sather. 1 cup over a 70 year period says it all.

  • @kingrich51 Had the Leafs & Isles remained in playoff contention after their 2002 series, there might still be a rivalry. But so much has changed on a personnel level now with both teams, there's hardly any players left from that series in 2002. And both teams have floundered since then. But, for 7 games that spring, these two teams HATED each other with a passion. :-)

  • I think you can compare Cal Clutterbuck to him or am I wrong..

He delivers punishing hits..especially the one on Tucker at 1:52.

  • As a Leafs fan here, Steve Webb killed us in that playoff series! Talk about hitting to hurt!

  • dirty player - loves taking runs and blind siding guys. He'll run the little guys but not man enough to go after a real strong player.

  • and just so you know one of these hits is bates

  • @NHLArchive - really??????

  • @ghytgb yeah, i can't remember at what time but he hits shayne corson

  • @NHLArchive - the original song to this video was "smack my bitch up" and it was aimed at the leafs coach kean. he was quoted as asking who steve webb was just before this series started. cairns kicking corsons ass is just icing on the cake. the bates hit was nothing but the start of corsons beat down.

  • Webb could flat out crush guys

  • BLOW LEAFS BLOW! -- BLOW LEAFS BLOW!

  • Steve Webb took runs at guys like Robert Reichel (who never hits), and apparently it was the Leafs players who only hit "weaker" Islander players? Don Cherry said it best about Steve Webb... "he plays like Tarzan at home, but like Jane on the road" in reference to Webb not being physical away from his home building.

  • @DarcyTucker - i don't take anyone that wears a flaming homo pink suit seriously. as for hitting on the road Webb did it more! I watched just about every isles gm over the past 25 yrs so i would know. don cherry talks out his ass and takes shit in his mouth!

  • @DarcyTucker -- attention all NHL players! Do not hit Robert Reichel! I repeat! Do not hit Robert Reichel! He is a total wussy and can't take a hit!

  • @DarcyTucker You do realize that several of the hits on this video are on from road games, right?

  • @velocity679 - WHY IS HITTING ILLIGAL ON THE ROAD?

  • @velocity679 Then why do they call him Tarzan on home ice? and Jane on the road? geeez.... the whole hockey world talked about this 8-9 years ago.

  • @DarcyTucker Not surprising that someone from Toronto thinks "the whole hockey world" equals his own city. But again, you don't have to take my word for it--watch the video like I said in my first post.

  • @DarcyTucker Steve Webb was a MONSTER in the 3 games @ Nassau, but the games on Toronto?? NOTHING. ZILCH. NATTA. Islander fans can deny it all they want, but Webb only showed up for the Islanders HOME games in the series, on the road, Webb was a non-factor. Period.

  • @ckendall67 -- Tucker threw a couple of hits during that series. other than that NOTHING. ZILCH. NATTA

  • @DarcyTucker -- Don Cherry wears a pink suit! NEXT!

  • @DarcyTucker thats why the first 5 hits in this video were on the road you dumbass

  • Please try and keep up little boy !! my comment was posted SEVEN MONTHS AGO !!! lol

  • @DarcyTucker - and that's all you've got to say. how about those leafs huh! what is it now 7 straight yrs missing the playoffs! what a total joke of an organization!

  • @ghytgb .. I don't have to say much to you, because you're clueless about hockey in general... there was no NHL season in 2004/05 ... DUHHHHHH !! 7 years? I don't think so. How about those pathetic Islanders? the worst organization in the NHL. Such a shame... 4 Stanley Cups.

  • @ghytgb It hasn't been 7 years.. learn how to count !!

  • @DarcyTucker - if you could read you'd see that i asked you how many years it has been. DOOO DAAA DOOO! --- BLOW LEAFS BLOW!

  • @ghytgb .. you still can't count idiot. It hasn't been 7-straight years.

  • @DarcyTucker - show me where i said it was 7 straight years. DOOO DAAA DOOO! -- BLOW LEAFS BLOW! -- 1-2-3 NEW JERSEY!

  • @ghytgb you need glasses and a brain dude. But I doubt any of them would work in your case. I guess it was your mother typing your comments for you "7-straight years". You are RIGHT !! you didn't type it, it was your mother on her computer, HAHAHAH you're such a loser !!

  • @DarcyTucker - You just admitted you can't find where i said 7 in a row. i heard your mom loves hitting from behind, roughing, a third man in and a foot in the crease.

  • @DarcyTucker First, if you're saying that the Leafs skill players are off limits to checking, then you're just an idiot. Second, you realize that a bunch of clips in this video are road games, right? Third, that you're still whining about Steve Webb almost 10 years after the fact proves that he was completely effective in his role.

  • @velocity679 - You replied to the wrong person.

  • @velocity679 I think you got that backwards moron... you respond to a thread 7 months later !!! what does that say ? CONTRADICTION !!! hello

  • Unfortunately, he leaves his feat a lot, which would be a suspension...but I love the guy!!

  • friggen huge guy, he still is pretty big......in the peterbough evinrtude center theres a picture of him and he pretty much fills up the jersey withought equipment...id hate to get hit by this guy

  • @GoodDieMate - 6 feet - 205 lbs is average but he just knew how to throw big hits!

  • clearly the biggest goon to ever play professional hockey

    what a goof

  • @nignigville - far from a goon. every team has a player like him but he was one of the best hitters around. try again!

  • Loved seeing Webb and Cairns on the ice hitting everyone

  • Although, 2:22 was the greatest hockey fight beat down of all time; it was Eric Cairns throwing hammers to Corsons skull, not Webb. Still, bravo... nice video

  • u forgot the clip where owen nolan fights webb and webb turtles lol

  • Steve Webb was the man

  • Webby was the small version of scott stevens and he just hit the way you hit.

Isles need a player like this, but then again with the new Nhl He'll get suspended for a month for a hit like that.

    He is missed.

  • @es540kickflip - i see a hit at MSG - a hit in Fla. and a hit in Pitt. in this video! i guess don cherry's got balls covering his eyes as always!

  • we could use another webb

  • @allhockey Konopka might be our next Webb.

  • @allhockey Matt Martin

  • @allhockey

We do, his names Matt Martin :)

  • @PyroAnarchist23 -- ummmm no!

  • 4:27 cairns for some reason protects corsons head from slamming onto the ice with his hand.

  • no, cairns puts hit hand down to protect himself.

  • nope. he put his hand behind corsons head when he could have easily landed on top of him.

  • like in wouldnt of hurt u

  • like what wouldn't have hurt me? finish your sentence.

  • @ghytgb Cairns did that because he's fiercely loyal to The Code. It would have been easier to land on top of Shayne, but these guys are countrymen - and the true tough guys respect the game - and each other.

  • i guess so but fuck corson big time! the guy repaid cairns by trying to kick him! corson did get 1 gm for the kick. i would have let his head slam on the ice. the leafs took big time runs at the weaker isle players through that whole series. why no make a statement?

  • 3:07 leaf players try to hide hogland getting medical attention!

  • ghytgb, great stuff!

Do you know where we can find the footage of a regular season game that took place before this playoff series?

It was like Jan-Feb of 2002.

Webby just destroys Dan Cloutier, who was with the Canucks at that point.

DC was skating to the bench on a delayed penalty - and obviously, Webb remembered when Dan was a Ranger and challenged the entire Isles bench - this after the Ranger thugs pounded on the Isles scoring line.

  • i never saw the webb hit on cloutier.

  • great work on this comp

  • the original song that got banned by youtube was "smack my bitch up". download it and sinc it to the video.

  • All the hits on the Rangers brings a smile to my face >=)

  • why is he retired? hes like 34 years old and hes the enforcer that the islanders need

  • when the rules changed in 2006 the gm became faster and it seemed as if they were pushing the tough guys out. a lot of tough guys retired like domi and rob ray but fighting did pick back up. the isles traded webb to pitt and got him back. he was really good at getting under the opponents skin but that was his entire game. i miss him too.

  • Comment removed

  • he doesnt hit he just obliterates

  • i had to take the original song off. it was "smack my bitch up". if you have it try and sinc it up to this video.

  • Awesome

  • You just have to love the way Webb played against Toronto that series. I will NEVER forget the hit on tucker 2:46

  • the original song that i had to remove from this video was "smack my bitch up". try syncing them up.

  • Steve Webb was a destroyer. I remember he just pummelled the leafs in that series. He was a one man wrecking machine.

  • He terrorized Tucker, Roberts and the likes in that game. One man battering ram. Miss him bitterly.

I agree, we need another Webb.

    I also miss Asham tremendously.

Didn't initiate the hits quite like Webby, but AA is fearless and the ultimate teammate.

  • webb hits another leaf at 3:28 exactly the way he hit hoglund. to bad they never showed a good replay of the hoglund hit. i like the way the leaf players try to hide hoglund from the camera as he gets his nose checked out.

  • steve webb was a wrecking ball especally when playing against the leafs.

  • the audio track for this video was "smack my bitch up". try playing it to this video.

  • no, webb was skating in the same direction as the leaf player. stevens went head on with karea. two great hits though.

  • hell yeah sucks that hes retired :(

  • NHL badly needs players like Steve to fire shit up and bring excitement and intensity back to the sport. its not kewl watching overpaid inconsistent passionless european "skilled" players figureskate around and not score. we need to see some euros getting crippled, more aggressive explosive fights, some blood loss and get some more intensity back in the game thats become so quiet and boring.cant handle exciting badass show with big hits and messy fights and a few goals? watch dr phil NBA or MLB

  • hopefully things won't change too drastically. it's getting a little wussy these days. there are some pitbulls out there like cam janssen. fuckin euro punks!

  • hahahah 43????????? please tell me ur joking?? richardson was 38 aT the time, richardson as born in 69' he's not even 40yet know ur shit eh bud!!

  • luke turned 43 on 8/14/07. fer sure eh bud!

  • This video should be no more than a minute long

  • I remember this.. this was when checking was legal in the NHL and the refs just let them play. Now everything is an elbow or a charge or boarding.

  • so true they should go back this style of play

  • This is the greatest video on youtube.

  • This video should have been called

"Steve Webb craps on the Maple Leafs (and some other guys)"

  • no that looks like you gay media401

  • he got his ass kicked by rob ray, if you wanna see go and wright steve webb vs rob ray

  • dubinsky got his ass knocked out by 43 year old luke richardson. check that one out!

  • that's J.D.'s mother!

  • CRACKHEAD THEO!
