We know religion can be and has been "purposeful" to those that feel they need it. however the texts contain literature that refers to living during medieval times/ancient times and are not ENTIRELY compatible with modernity. sure religion can offer a moral basis (not entirely objective) however as human beings, we possess such intelligence that religion is NOT vital to good moral attainment.
