The Judge was just trying to get through to the young men in his court room. He likely cares about the community and the young men he was trying to help. It wasn't racism, it was a man trying to make a difference in his community.

Being a judge, one must be "color blind" when dispensing justice. I think the judge knew he handled this wrong and expressed those sentiments on camera. That said, he should be reprimanded and held responsible for his actions. He needs to have his courtroom monitored for at least 6 months. This demonstrates extremely poor judgement for an officer of the court. I wonder what other questionable judgement calls he has made. Peoples lives and futures depend on this mans competency.

It is true that if a white judge did this he would be disbarred. However, I am white and I am not offended at all. The judge's intentions were to try to stop the recidivism of crime with the black people in Fulton County (although whites can be just as shitty as blacks and vice versa). When asked why he cleared the room of whites, the judge owned up immediately to his mistake and said that in retrospect he probably shouldn't have done it. Good on him.

I have many black friends with whom I would trust with my life and they say the same type of things to me all the time.
I feel bad for them because they are my friends and I can not do anything to help them except listen and be a friend.

I understand what he was trying to do in this instance, but lets flip the coin, what would have happened if a white judge had expelled all non whites from a courtroom regardless of intention? He would have been investigated by the state attorney general and disciplined if not taken off the bench. It is disparities like that that are a large portion of the racial problems in the U.S. I say treat everyone the same, but the race baiters keep trying to stir things up.

Being a judge, one must be "color blind" when dispensing justice. I think the judge knew he handled this wrong and expressed those sentiments on camera. That said, he should be reprimanded and held responsible for his actions. He needs to have his courtroom monitored for at least 6 months. This demonstrates extremely poor judgement for an officer of the court. I wonder what other questionable judgement calls he has made. Peoples lives and futures depend on this mans competency.

It is true that if a white judge did this he would be disbarred. However, I am white and I am not offended at all. The judge's intentions were to try to stop the recidivism of crime with the black people in Fulton County (although whites can be just as shitty as blacks and vice versa). When asked why he cleared the room of whites, the judge owned up immediately to his mistake and said that in retrospect he probably shouldn't have done it. Good on him.
