I was lucky enough to see her in Dallas. My girlfriend's mom had died 2 months prior to this concert. It was stunningly beautiful, but having kept her emotions "erased" it was the catalyst. i just held her. But she is a woman of a different era. A graceful old soul who despite her extreme shyness, shared this intensity that is RARELY so palpable and haunting. Thanks for posting this. And making me cry! lol! ;^) & :^(
I'm really pissed off with people that always feel that have to draw comparisons between performers. I love Dead Can Dance but to say that Sinead's performance of this song has "no feeling in the intonation" is absurd! SINEAD IS IRISH! She not only is a talented singer in her own right but brings an historical and cultural perspective that no foreigner can grasp. "No feeling" indeed. She is a white hot ember!
Really poor version compared to the DCD version. Poor vocals and really bad rhythm. Powerless voice and no feeling in the intonation. One of the worst versions of "I Am Stretched On Your Grave" I've ever heard. She should stick to merchandised pop music and leave these things for true musicians
Respond to this video... let's debate then. Name a live vocalist who can match her range, tone and stage presence. From what I've seen and heard, it can't be done, especially when considering an a cappella performance like this. Perhaps there are some operatic singers who come close, but I don't think she can be surpassed for pure lyrical talent on an open stage.
This is a nice version of the song, but it's pretty much exactly the way I imagined she'd sing it. I was hoping for something just a little bit different from her.
The greatest loves are the ones that die unfullfied. And your maindenhead still is your pillar of light. So f'n cool. How great is she, that she sounds like that without anything, no instruments.
This is actually a 17th Century poem written by an anonymous peasant in Ireland. It's been a song traditionally sung for centuries, in different versions. O'Connor wrote the music for this version and sung it on her album - then Dead Can Dance COVERED O'Connor's version of the song, using HER music, on their album. Just FYI, for those who like the song.
Please, do not compare Dead Can Dance to Sinead O'Connor, they are totally different from each other in music style and country of origin and they both perform amazingly on cd and live..

@fishman017 given these circumstances im not entirely sure. i was thinking of Sarah Brightman.
i am not very good at debates so i guess it might have been foolish of me to challenge anything

Chilling. I can see vividly the romance of the two of whom she sings. Platonic, pure, holy. Beautiful.
