I have this enclosure, I read that others have been hearing noises from the fan. I was looking for a Blue LED replacement, which lead to Notebook Coolers. They use slim 80mm x 15mm fans, they're 5mm thicker than the stock cooler. Do you think one will fit? Also, does your enclosure spin down your HDD when shutting down the computer (I have another Rosewill enclosure that does, this one does not)?
I'm not sure about the fan, I'll have to dig out the old fan. I just contacted Rosewill and they send a new one. The new one is much more quiet.
Nothing happens when I shut down the computer (as far as I can tell).
The only reason I got this one is when I purchased the HDD this was a combo, was on sale and additional $x.xx off (can't remember how much). Also I like the look of it. Oh and it has ESATA.
@De4dSpace On second thought, I think you might be right and it might only be doing that when you plug/unplug the data cable into/from the system. Mine is well out of warranty and the fan started making noise lately. Luckily, Rosewill offered a free fan, nice of them.
The ghost thing also looked like a swimming sperm. LOLz. Great vid.

@De4dSpace YES, the enclosure does spin down the drive when it is not mounted on the system (such as when the system is going for a shutdown).

@conspiracyx88 Well, I have this model and it does not for me. Even when shut down. My older Rosewill enclosure does.
