Absolutely brilliant!! Anyone know what year this might have been? 1960? Bobby probably still in his 20's here. Can you imagine if he was on American Idol today?! In comparison to what is put up as popular talent today this is mindboggiingly great.
This aired in England on May 20, 1967. I think it was actually filmed at the end of 1966. So Bobby was 30 here. IMHO there's no one around today who comes even close to equaling his talent.
@bobbyfan64 I think he's got great timing and lovely sounding voice but there are people out there that Cowell the cunt won't allow near a camera as they will show up the shit puppets he has on his books before he puts them on his fixed shows.I know many corporate and upper end wedding singers that can sing to the 60's crooner and power singers standard.
Idol SHOULD test the meddle of these young bucks and have them do Bobby's songs. There's enough them, I believe, to not only display the versatility of his songs but to educate these Kool-Aid music fans about how much it takes to sing well. There's no faking a Darin song.
Such a shame that more of this kind of thing isn't on the market to buy. Instead we get nothing but run-of-the-mill "singers" clogging up the shelves with their canned music and digitally altered vocals to make it sound like they can actually sing. Bobby Darin, even at his sickest could run circles around the current crop of "performers." Nobody like him.
I believe this is a "lost" BBC concert Recording, well it ain't so lost is it, so why don't they restore it digitally and show the whole thing on tv, give us want we want for a change.
I adore his version of "Don't rain on my parade" it's so powerful, and it really 'boosts' my day! The second song is likable as well - thanks for posting!
Every performance a knockout. What a honor to have this man for us all to enjoy, to matter how briefly.

Watching and listening to this is like visiting another planet, in a distant galaxy. I like that planet.

Two different types, both the very best. Jim Reeves and the one and only Bobby Darin. Now and forever!

How I want to travel back in time just to watch him live...

'Living legend' is, sadly, only 50% accurate.

Man ! What electricity he emits when he performs. Besides being a great singer, he knew how to entertain his audience.
Not to mention he was a pretty decent actor. Anyone have a clip of him at the Copa?
produce08 2 years ago 4
Can't imagine that cameras were allowed at the Copa or that it was filmed.
Pretty decent doesn't cover it - seen Pressure Point?
liverpoolishgirl 2 years ago
@liverpoolishgirl They did film him at the Coconut Grove during his 10th anniversary. The whole show and rehearsal exists in a vault!

Really? Bobby Darin is Simon Cowell's favorite singer? I always knew Simon had excellent taste!

Apparently George Clooney's all-time favourite song ( by anyone ) was ( and still is ?) 'Artificial Flowers.'

I think it's safe to say that Bobby would have done well on American Idol as he is Simon Cowell's favourite singer.

I love Bobby Darin, he was a "real" Singer.
Nowadays singers can only sing in their stupid studios....

Agreed, with a few exceptions. I need to get some bigger speakers to appreciate this!
