I went to their concert when they were in tampa so many years ago, about 12, I think. If anyone was there, it's when when she fell off the stage....I only say this because if anyone happens to know the year, I'd appreciate if you mailed it to me (it's a long shot but still...) We'd planned to go see them again when they came back to town but then she died. I cried for so long, but at least she lived a long and meaningful life.
I love it all but one small crticism which is the same I have for all live, on the spot performances -- I wish they could all sound as good as they do in the recording studio.
i thought this was beautiful but u missed one part htat i think goes "i lost my wife and little boy. someone crossed that yellow line. the day we layed them in the ground, is the day i lost my mind. and now im down to only this little cardboard sign."
So ahead of thier time. They were talking about peace in 1960. About drug law reform in 1967. About bullying in 1995. Visionaries are always castigated because they dont reflect "contemporary community standards." Thats why they are artists-they reflect tomorrows community standards. RIP Mary.
This song does break your heart. And this song fits me perfectly, I was always the loser.:( No one ever wanted to play with me, I was always picked on. Always sat alone on the bus.Never had friends to hang out with on field trips.I cry when I hear this.
this is a buitiful song and i think more people should hear this song beacuse i was always the kid people made fun out of and avoided beacuse i am Polish and it was scary going to school beacuse people threatend me and everythng and this song really gives a message to everyone who has a heart. Great song from me, Jacub!!!
you are an imature piece of shit beacuse u know u will never be able to make this kind of music ever!!! these people are great people and your an asshole!!!
It's really sad to see what the ravages of time does to people. Here sit 3 of the most wonderful musicians of all time, bodies getting old and falling apart, yet their spirit is undiminished and they sound better than they ever have. It's hard to see PP&M sitting here as an elderly trio and now with Mary's passing, one can sense more than ever before how special this musical chemistry was to them and their success. I look forward to hearing them perform together again some day. :)
An anonymous prayer request, "My grandson got hit in the eye the other day in school by another student. Pray for the kids that they can see the good in all, rather than the racial hate -- my grandson is Native American."
We were allowed to trade written requests. Put in one and take another. This one has always broken my heart. I too was a kid laughed at in school because I was poor.
@lafk52 I enjoyed a glass of wine about a year ago watching the sunset over the ocean in Mendocino while listening to PP and Mary with a dear friend.......
Wow!! This is the first I had ever heard this amazing song! Eternal gratitude to Peter, Paul and especially Mary for all of the lovely music, that has taught so many in more ways than we can ever imagine! We'll miss you Mary, Mahalo!! ;) *

EVERYDAY for like a MONTH in my elementary school in 5th grade, they played this song. OH MY GOD. Just for that, just for the repetitiveness, we all hate it. When someone says "don't laugh at me" everyone still bursts into the chorus. Scars for life...

haha me too! they played it for us in 5th grade. it kind of ruined the song. sometimes we break out in song even now in junior year! haha this got so old!
i agree for mary, seems like she's suffering alot, at least a bad cold or something. the other two are superb though it seems so crowded sitting behind tables :D
Last I heard, Mary's leukemia was in remission. In recent years she's become a physical wreck for reasons I don't understand. We all grow old if we're lucky. . . .
That is true - let's hope she can maintain now. I apologize if I sounded harsh but the OP I replied to originally represent to me ALL the things that people like PP/M have been fighting against their entire lives. Guess we haven't come so far after all - buth the point is that we continue to try.

I was the same way growing up. It hurts but it also gives me hope that it will wake people up & make them think before they speak or act.

Mary is now leukemia free after having a bone marrow transplant just over a year ago and is backing touring with Noel Paul and Peter - thank God.
