  • THANK YOU !

  • i miss hip hop. Kats are out to make hits now, not classics. The game has changed, but not for the better.

  • I'm trying to go to another song here, but so far I just can't... lol

  • my two fave producers one track whoooaaaa wowwwww whoaaa wowwwwwwww whoaaaa wooooowwwwww ahhh ahhhhh

  • this shit is Dope !!!!!!

  • What!!!!!!!! ATCQ without Phife???... Well heres a funky introduction of how nice i am, tell your mother tell your father send a telegram, im like a energizer coz you see i last long, my crew is never ever wack bcoz we stand strong

  • @2011neesh LOL fam that was a good 1... peace..

  • da,,. tracks like this is why we dig broahhh

  • Amazing. Love the Ummah. I wish they could have done so much more!

  • A lot of ya'll are confusing the Uhmah with The Soulaquarians, The Ummah was Dilla, Shaheed and Q'Tip, Nobody else was in Th e Ummah.

  • Stunning!!!! His transgressions on earth have to be forgive by the big man upstairs on his music alone. He's rockin the holy trinity upstairs. They have soul by the pound too.

  • ALI was involved...but it has been stated on several interviews and publications that Q-tip produced the first 3 Tribe Albums primarily. Therefore when it said produced by A Tribe Called Quest, it really meant Q-tip. And those first three albums are some of the best albums of all time!!

  • @bigTforreal ok, the cd:s i've got here says different. can i kick it, bonita applebum and check the rhime (for instance) are all co-produced, acording to the cd:s, and on stuff like award tour and oh my god Q-Tip wasn't a part of the producing. i could be wrong but it wouldn't be the first time Q-Tip gets more appreciation then he deserves (thinking of The Ummah).

don't get me wrong though, he's dope as hell but I don't think people should forget about Ali Shaheed. just look at the Lucy Pearl

  • MUSIC you won't here on the radio

  • @kaseone and @paydro... Peace. This is Leaf Erikson. Shoot me a message with ya Facebook info. Its CLEAR yall are some headz. Btw, Kase are u from T Dot?

  • the ummah was three heads....

    everyone always sleeps on shaheed...

The Ummah = Jay Dee, Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad

  • I got this aswell. Great graphics on the album cover.

  • they should have finished the production of this one...a shame quality wise, but the grittyness of it makes it enjoyable evenstill !

  • Maaaan. I'm so glad I found this. This is hot! Thanks for posting!

  • Tired of everyone referring to JDilla as the Ummah. The Ummah was a collective production team: Jay Dee, Q-Tip, and Ali Shaheed Muhammed.

  • @neyetroglys That what it says in the description

  • @neyetroglys

I always took it as a show of respect to jay dee because of the meaning of the word ummah.

  • @neyetroglys I know also D'angelo was in there

  • @neyetroglys tired of misunderstanding... YeS u Can referring to Jdilla who was a important member, but there was not just Jaydee & ATCQ, but James Poyser, ?uestlove....& plus

    just to say ones.. ;)

  • @metkakola That's not the Ummah, that's The Soulaquarians.

  • @metkakola I think you don't understand lol. The Hummah = Dilla, Q-Tip & Shaheed. Questlove & Co = The Soulquarians.... "Tired of misunderstanding"... ? lol

  • @neyetroglys you're also forgetting Raphael Saadiq in The Ummah. he helped out later on. But the truth is, Jay Dee made all their noteworthy beats. He wasn't getting proper credit for the tracks he made. That is why James and Tip had a bit of a falling out. But later reunited when James did his album. ...breathe & stop, vivrant thing, etc.

The Ummah IS Jay Dee, Tip, Ali, Rhaeol Saadiq...but rest assured, jay dee made all their best tracks as a collective. and he was wroking way more than all

  • @neyetroglys Thanks for clearing that up, I thought the Ummah was Ali Shaheed Muhammeed

  • I got this record in germany about 15 years ago along with some other rare tribe 12" (stuff like "weekends" by consequence also wifey material and riot) I also picked up double vinyl pressings of tribes 1st two albums (at the time i only had single pressings)

  • @djpaydro That's what's up!

  • yo i got this record

  • dope

  • that bass guitar is priceless

  • damn where in gods name did u find that album? amazing stuff thank you so much for sharing with us!

  • search for "the lost demo's" on Google, you got it there

  • im not bein funny but does everyone think ummah is just jay dee well he's in it its jay dee, qtip and ali shaheed muhammad

  • this one sounds the best on youtube so far, but why are all them different lenghts? the first one i ever heard was on Tips myspace page and that was 2:27, then this one is 3:35 and there is anotha that is 4:20...wonder which is the right one. but then again, i have 3 different Gettin' Ups' also, his myspace one, his album one and the video one

  • This is from the record it self...

  • The Ummah We mmmissss you Dog..

  • I finally got this album... It has some really good tracks that never released. Good shit.

  • This is hott stuff ... love it ....

  • thanx dj kaseone for posting Real hip-hop!!! I have been schooling my sons what Real hip-hop is. Keep it real!

  • Hot TRACK! I wish The Ummah would have specifically stated who produced what...Q-Tip is one of the best producers of all time (which who produced the first 3 Tribes, Nas, Mobb Deep, Cypress Hill, and others).....Tip and J-Dilla together was an unbeatable team!!

  • 2nd that.......peace

  • @bigTforreal aren't u forgetting Ali Shaheed on them ATCQ albums?

  • @bigTforreal Don't forgot about Shaheed

  • @bigTforreal It sounds like a Q-tip beat. You can tell the styles after listening to a million of their songs hahaha

  • @ahmad312. I don't know...those drums sound A LOT like Dilla's style. They sound like they could've been on Fantastic Vol. 1

  • This is classic... the feeling is crazy the bass drops and the kicks with the piano man... shit is soul... niggaz been sleepin on tribe called quest..its fuckd up when will people realised how real the music was back then and start tryin 2 compete wit it... all i can say is it aint for everybody.. u gotta have soul for this baby...real talk... i record joints with rhythm like this.

  • probably will never be anything like the Ummah man. that shit was golden. Q-Tip is an amazing lyricist and Jay Dee knew how to cut the track.

  • I can't beleive that jive made them re-do the Love movement. This is a goodvibe track.

  • Dilla's voice is outstanding on this track. Man it would be the greatest honor to meet Jay Dee, cant wait for heaven...

  • Anybody who knows lyrics of this song, please, write it for me, because i couldn't find in the net... and i can't understand...

  • this shit trips me out

  • yo this beat automatically hot

  • This song is sick. Do you know where I can buy this online?

  • it's too bad the recording wasnt that good originally...q tips mic is distorted

  • "ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, i stand at six feet high, wid no inches..."

  • i love it

  • this should have made the love movement lp....

  • @hanaaB for real.

  • This song is way too ill to not have been put on a album. I wonder why q-Tip, dilla, and ali didn't release this either on amplified, or the love movement album? Must of been a sample clearance issue.

  • sounds like they just never finished it.

i'm loving this. damn!!! gotta find a better version somewhere.

  • :-)

  • nice track! dilla was sick with it fam!

    crazy!

  • also do u think they called this lost demos because it might have been in the studio fire they had in 1995?

  • I don't think so... this sounds like a Dilla production from... '97? Maybe '96, but this is Dilla's anyway, so I don't think Jay didn't have a copy.

  • I want to say it was 96.

  • @iancurtis86

Dilla production 1995 or 96. This demo was around the time Beats, Rhymes and Life was recorded.

  • this was on Tip's myspace page before he took it down before his Kamaal the Abstract album wasnt released. It was called Ah Ah there. How did u get it? great post!!!

  • Thanks for the info!

  • this song is phat!!

  • this should've came out

  • Qtip & The Flows ........Damn......

  • how da fuck did this not make "the Love Movement " lp????????

  • THIS IS HOT!...I need it.

  • i still havent heard "get the money" "the riot" and "put it down"

  • Electric Relaxation used to be my fav. song of all time, until i heard this cut...

  • 1st time i heard this joint was a bit after they released "beats, rhymes, & life" i always wondered why it didn't make the album. maybe tip wanted 2 save it 4 some solo work or something. i don't know. it's 1 of my favs 2.
