In CA I have only two real choices for sufficient individual med insurance--Blue Cross or Blue Shield. The costs are outrageous.

I recently learned my Blue Cross plan (which excludes persons with pre-existing conditions) is so profitable that its so-called "loss ratio" is less than 50%--meaning more than 50% of premiums pay for overhead & profits.

This indicates a VERY rotten system. We need to help each other fix this problem--government, private sector, whatever. Let's use ALL our tools.
