In Middle Ages, the Chinese poetry, literature, theater, music and painting were greatly influenced by the Uyghurs.

  • alpbukhari: it might be because of ancient cultural exchange.

i read somewhere that in the middle ages Uighurs had a big influence on chinese music, art literature etc. it was written by western scholars, but i still have to confirm it thou.

  • I know Uzbeks & Uighurs r very close. But why Uighur music sometimes sounds like chinese. Uzbek is different somewhere and sounds a bit more Persian to me. Also all other related Turkic or Persian melodies have the same touch. But Uighur music is different. I mean it's good and makes it unique, actually. Just wonder is it ancient cultural link between Uighurs and Chinese or is it something to do with being part of modern China?
