could someone please explain to me how one IMPOSES gay marriage on others? Are there a lot of gays out there kidnapping straight males to new york and forcing them to get married?
Children need a mother and a father in the household, and any child who doesn't is being raised wrong. This is why we allow single parents to freely raise their children.
How can a SAN FRANCISCO judge try to change marriage all around America ...... And to the people who think that us gays are trying to shove our morals down your throat you would be wrong we aren't the ones spending two millions dollars on tv commercials trying to stop something that's going to happen regardless
Thank goodness NOM has the guts to stand up to the tyrannical oppressors (gay rights activists) who want to impose corrupted morals and values to the United States. Reality check: AMERICA IS NOT FOR GAY MARRIAGE AND NEVER WILL BE. Deal with it and stop shoving these depraved morals down our throats.
@CTS316 From another perspective, those that oppress gay people and deny them their human right to marry are the "tyrannical oppressors". These people do not want to "shove depraved morals" or "corrupted morals and values" down your throat, they just want to marry each other as they love each other, and enjoy the same legal rights as other heterosexual married couples do. I should think those that disagree with this are in the minority....sorry to burst your bubble.
vicorii, again, you have no proof of your claims. All you have are your personal statements that serve no validity in this conversation NOR in a court of law.
This is why your side is losing the battle. Governments and society in general are understanding that same-sex parenting does not cause harm to a child any more than gender-specific teachers in school play an influential role in how the child retains and uses information to better him/herself.
Oh good God...I love how NOM makes it sound like gay marriage will be the end of the world. Gay people aren't trying to make everyone else gay. People who aren't married have successful families & many adopt. Are they saying that being a single parent is "sin," too? What about people who can't have kids? Or unwed mothers or divorced people? According to the "values" they project, they're all worthless & should be illegal, too. Believe what you want, but at least don't be shady & inconsistent.
Lies lies and more lies... Nom needs to STFU, and get over it. It is 2010 (almost 2011) we should be accepting LGBTs.... Not hating them!! Its not like they are forcing the whole US to be Gay or Lesbian! They ust want equal rights to marry who they want.. If you think they will "go to hell" then so be it.. Think hohwever you want, because we really dont fucking care. This country is obviously not free with idiots like you trying to run it!
Wow, the hate and bigotry I see here is from the homosexual agenda. Look at yourself and your comments. Why can't you debate the issues intelligently and calmly showing respect to the opposing side? It seems that if people do not agree with your opinion then they are a bigot, hypocrite or worse. Why is "TOLERANCE" only swinging one way? You're holding to a false belief thinking that a man can be a mother and a woman can be a father! Kids need and want BOTH!
@mmbrads Yes, forcing people to pretend that kinship does not matter is going to create an anger that will look a lot like hate.
Kinship is relevant to those of us who actually value strong families.
Being told that we have to pretend that any two people who want to falsify a family tree is the same as a real family has a real impact on those of us who observe the obligations that go with kinship
It's more than just free riders hanging on. It's a fundamental change to the structure of family.
so, is NOM going to put a stop to divorce? Jesus clearly stated, more than once, NO DIVORCE? If gays can not get married because of the bible why can straights still get a divorce?
so, is NOM going to put a stop to divorce? Jesus clearly stated, more than once, NO DIVORCE? If gays can not get married because of the bible why can straights still get a divorce?
A man and a man are the worst at raising children, don't you know they are of a different race (Humanity)! (sarcasm)
No woman can raise a child! How absurd! Now we have two woman raising a child!! This is not right! The child will become an illegal alien! (Again Sarcasm).
The people of NOM need to stop reading their bible and go to school.

there is nothing wrong with San Francisco values, its these bigots thats causing problems. San Francisco is leading the way for equality and its good for the world
The fact that they started it off by saying, "A gay San Francisco judge..." shows they're in it for discrimination. What does it matter that the judge was gay? He's a judge. Just state his ruling.
Haha, I know, and then they say that he ruled that straight marriage is unconstitutional, which is a load of shit, he said barring gay marriage is unconstitutional, Which it is. And then they try make it sound as if everyone is going to be forced into a gay marriage.
@BubbleGumNipples Haha! Yeah like the new law will legalize gay marriage and ban heterosexual marriage! Too funny! Watch out God-fearing familes, the gays are comin to get ya! Boo!
Better watch out!, Some fabulous looking men in black just kicked in my door, threw my wife in a burlap sack and then married me to some other dude at gun point D: !!!
@BubbleGumNipples Haha! That's pretty funny! Yep, that's what happens... you have gay marriage, and next thing you know you're gay and married.... or something like that LOL :)
And you know, John, your ideal of a society is really not appealing to me. And not simply because you are seeking to prevent me from obtaining my civil rights. Lots of straight people too are seeing right trough your intolerance and hatred. People are simply sick and tired of being led like children by the Bible. Your idea of a society is based on fears, homophobia, hatred, and intolerance. Is that really what we should aim for? Thanks, but no thanks, John. Not intrested in that. Not at all.
How will marriage equality undermine any fundamental values anyways? That I would certainly like someone to explain. It's not enough to simply say these things: you have to show how it may be detrimental in significant ways to society. You havn't, so far. And in states where there is marriage equality, divorce rates are falling. People have more inclusive views, they tend to inform themselves, in other words, they contribute to built a society in which I would like to live in.
Actually, John, NOM has been utterly unable to show any evidence that marriage equality will undermine society. On the contrary, civil rights for ALL its citizens has in the past always brought positive social changes, and a more just, equal and inclusive society. Unfortunately, your views are skewed by your fears and ignorance, which makes your imagination run wild. Marriage has been legal in qutie a few countries now: these societies are doing rather well, indeed. Less crime, more openess.
Another great piece of stupidity and ignorance, from John, again from NOM blog, concerning marriage equality: "This further divide being placed between men and women tends to dissolve the fundamental bonds necessary to hold a society together. Western society appears to be dissolving right in front of our eyes (...). This is the most convincing evidence yet that the human race is an evolutionary dead end." See my response above...
Because however one feels about homosexuality, bullying someone because they are who they are is downright acceptable. And don't give me the usual response "homosexuality is a behavior that can be cure." No. It's not, and it can't. Please, move on, on that one, because it's really getting you nowhere, only making you look more foolish. I know that's what your religion teaches you. It doesn't mean its true: just look at the studies. And discrimination should never be made acceptable. At any time.
But why do I bring religion here? Because religions parents are actively seeking in the Anoka-Hennepin district to prevent anti-bullying laws to be passed, supposedly on religious grounds. Ya know, the whole "homosexuality is sinful" kind of thing. Sure. Ok. You're free to believe that. BUT: that also means, you don't care that kids die because of your hatred. Not that you'll admit it: but it's still the end result. And that's the tragedy. That's what I mean by "we need much tougher laws" thing.
Perhaps one more thing on the topic hate: ever heard of the Anoka-Hennepin district? Well you may want to know that 3 kids killed themselves over the summer. Why? Because they were harrassed. And why were they harrassed? Because they were gay. Other kids at school bullied them and hated them so much, that these 3 kids saw no other way out and commited suicide. I don't know about you, but for a religion that prones the respect of life, such hate is, to me, quite unbelievable.
Anti-religious hate... Funny, coming from a guy who offered to track me down and beat me up. How classy. I'm confused about who's doing the hate here. I'm not against religions, never were, never will. Whether you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.: totally fine by me. But if you're going to prevent me from getting my rights, harrassing me, insulting me, threatening me physically, it's a bit bizarre to me that you would expect gays and lesbians to just sit down and watch. Not in the plan.
@mcguitarqueen Indeed, they pick and chose their kind of hate. It's perfectly ok to hate others that don't think like them. It's ok to see teens kill themselves for being harrassed, and not do anything about it, not only that, but to actively prevent to push for laws protecting gays and lesbians from being bullied in schools. It's ok for gays and lesbians to be beaten up, and sometimes even die. For a lesbian house in Tenessee to be burned down, simply for existing.
@mcguitarqueen But if we DARE speak up against that, if we DARE to be outraged against that kind of bullshit, then we're accused of being haters, discriminatory, and of preventing them from their freedom of religion. It's just disgusting how they play themselves out as victims, calling themselves of victims of Christian persecutions as I've seen on NOM's blog. Really shameful...
Typical NOM: "Nothing more lovely than children exposed to your filthy, abhorrent, & perverse lifestyle. I sincerely hope they get taunted & picked-on relentlessly at school as a reflection of their 'parents' failures. Artificially inseminated? Remnants from a failed marriage or marriages? Beautiful. You & your dyke partner should be very proud of yourselves. Nice try with the typical rhetoric 'he doesn't like homosexuality so he must be a closet fag'. Your so-called 'family' can rot in hell."
@mcguitarqueen Wow! That's from djartm right? Again, very classy. Just ignore him. Or block him, for that matter. He's not worth the trouble. But let's keep posting. It's important to debunk these myths, and the hate and lies behind NOM and its fear campaign.
Again, sooo many myths need to be debunked, here goes some other ones. All are from Karl, again concerning this very add on NOM's blog. First one: "The judge is suppose to be neutral, how can a activist gay judge (yes a judge who actively is promoting and advocating gay rights) be neutral in judging a law that restricts the rights of a group he belongs to?" 1st: NOM didn't have any problem with his sexuality BEFORE the reuling. (See above)
@Skulander1 2nd: Judge Walker is not actively promoting gay rights as an "activist." He is only presenting facts, yes facts, from science, which we have known for a long time. So yes, he's pretty neutral: he didn't make up these facts, he didn't invent things that didn't exist.
@Skulander1 And then, another comment: "He switched the burden of proof from the plaintiffs to the defendants. Again, another major abuse of power." Sorry Karl, but if you're going to discriminate against me, you better tell me why. It's plain common sense. Again: you're upset because no such grounds exist for discriminating against gays and lesbians.
@Skulander1 Also Karl wrote: "As per the Constitution of the United States, Judges can NOT write laws. He was writing laws. Again, another abuse of power." Nope. Judge Walker did not write laws. You're right: he hasn't got the power to do that. He only ruled that Prop HATE is unconstitutional. This, of course, will have a major impact, but it's another story, outside the verdict itself.
@Skulander1 Karl wrote: "He also told the voters of California that they do not have the right to legislate sexual behaviors. I'm not talking about the right of people to privacy, but the right of society to regulate behaviors." Legislating sexual behaviors??? You know, homosexuality has been deemed illegal well before Judge Walker's ruling. He certainly isn't imposing any behavior on anyone, and certainly not telling you that you can't be straight.
@Skulander1 So that's quite a wild claim. People certainly have the right to chose their partner, and if anything, seems like YOU are imposing your sexual behaviors on ME. It goes both ways, Karl, you see. I'm not telling you how to lead your sex life, and people certainly shouldn't be given the right to discriminate against me because I'm homosexual. And anyways, no: society should not regulate behaviors. Society should not force people to act a certain way just because it wants them to.
@Skulander1 You also say, Karl: "Pedophile to take his ruling and say that it isn't fair to him that he can't have sex with young children." No. Absolutely not. When have you heard of gays and lesbians condoning pedophilia? Pedophila ruins peoples' lives. Homosexuality is love between 2 consenting ADULTS. Big difference here: your fears have made your imagination run wild on that one.
@Skulander1 Besides, Karl: if you want to legalize pedophilia, I'm sure some straight men would be happy not to see their behavior criminalized. Yes. You heard me right. Most pedophiles are straight men. Oh, and there's a bunch of priests, too, which are included. I'm still waiting for churches to take action against their pedophile priests: that would certainly heighten their level of credibility, which are rather low at the moment.
And the rest of it: " A caveat: if your issue with SSM is, primarily, a religious and/or moral argument absent any consideration of Constitutional law or the principle of separation of church and state, then no depth of debate can sway your judgement; we would have nothing to discuss." Great thoughts!!! THe constitution is based on the separation of church and state, like it or not. TC Matthews and others cannot base their judgments on religious principles. Period.
And here's a great rebuttal to TC Matthews's emotionally-driven contempt of gays and lesbians, again from NOM's blog: TC Matthews, I have read the entirety of Judge Walker's ruling. I think you have not. Please read the Judge's ruling, then we can have a knowledgable argument of its merits with respect to case and California law. Sound knowledge, as a basis for argument, should always trump stabs in the dark.
Another good one from TC Matthews, from the NOM blog: " Please, if you're going to try to make the case for why society should promote ssm on a rational basis, do so without the emotional crutches, it does nothing but add to your discredit." Funny, eh, the charges of emotionalism. Funny and ironic since NOM has been utteruly unable to put forth any credible, substantial argument against marriage equality. All they can do is appeal to their Bible, which is, to say the least, far from rational!!!
@ScienceReasonBelief Indeed, ah the lies which NOM puts forth... quite shameful, really. I'm glad people are opening their eyes though, and that counter-videos and parodies are made of every single add which NOM puts forth. We can't prevent them for putting forth such lies: but thankfully, we CAN debuke them, and point out how utterly irrational and ridiculous NOM's views are.
They had no choice. She was eating up all the Hostess Twinkies and Frosted Cupcakes at NOM's headquarters, and no-one else was able to get any. They had to kick her out!
Look, if you decide to resort to insults, fine. But I won't be playing this game. And you know what? I've actually taken the time to read Walker's ruling. All he says in there is stuff we've known for years. Nothing in there is brand new or issuing from his "activism." There simply IS no reasons to discriminate on the basis of gender. Period. And if I were you I wouldn't be so confident about the 9th circuit... You may be in for a surprise. Your team is simply losing for lack of arguments.
If the "basis of society" is procreation, as I am led to assume, then why should infertile or elderly couples be allowed to, following your logic, TC Matthews? It's simply ridiculous. Marriage has never been that monolithic institution that you claim it to be, and look in your own Bible, you'll see plenty of disgusting things like polygamy, rape and incest. Is that what you mean by "traditiona" marriage? Your imagination is simply running wild, and I actually feel sorry for youj.
@Skulander1 Hey you little ass-slurper, here's hoping you get AIDS from your disgusting, unnatural lifestyle. I think instead of your constant baseless, condescending pro-gay drivel, you're probably due for a good ol-fashioned ass-kicking. BTW, try getting it through your dumb fucking skull that 'marriage' is defined as a union between a man and a woman, as it should rightfully be. So your so called 'right' to marriage is entirely invalid.
@djhartm Awwww. Resorting to insults now, are we? Kinda cute. As for AIDS, thanks for the wishes. But you know, I'm actually a responsible person so I take the necessary precautions when I have sex. And no, there's no way marriage should be only between a man and a woman. Just because you want it so doesn't justify the discrimination. Sorry.
@djhartm Oh wait, we're disgusting and perverse? I never tried "ass-rimming", nor have I wrote that on the internet. Please keep your passtimes to yourself.
You're vomiting hate with every word you say and pushing decent, kind people away, thus adding to our numbers.
So, please, keep writing and have a great day! :)
@Skulander1 Your replies here are so utterly ridiculous, you should really get back to servicing your partner(s) or cruising for twinks, because here, you come across like a complete and utter jackass; spouting random fallacious statements, with no data to support them whatsoever. Run along back to your bathouse. Hey BTW, how IS gay marriage working out for you in CA these days? Not very well I heard. Must be awful knowing that 7 million people do not support gay marriage.
@djhartm Gay marriage is working out wonderfully in CA. Prop HATE has been deemed unconstitutional, even DADT and DOMA (DOMA, a while ago actually). I can't wait until the 9th circuit and the Supreme Court rules that religious nutcases can't discriminate against us anymore. As for proofs, we've plenty. Judge Walker undermined every single one of you guys' arguments.
@Skulander1 Your credibility (or what little you actually claimed to ahve) just went right out the window. Try breaking away from your gay porn & do some legal research on Walker's 'circus show'. Even the liberal 9th is expected to invalidate his ruling (like so many of his others). SNAP! You might want to look up the definition of discrimination while you're at it, because your misuse of the term here is laughable.
@djhartm So, djhartm, I tried to clue you in on my gender with the "my lesbian-raised kids" comment, but you're obviously not that bright and judging by your farmer dialogue, you've probably never passed 8th grade.
Just letting you know so you don't have to burden yourself sending me sexually suggestive messeges in my inbox referring to male sex acts. Oh, btw, come out of the closet. Thanks.
@Skulander1 Still here spraying your flawed-logic, baseless, anti-religious hate. Wow, you sure are an intolerant little bottom. You can remove religion entirely from the equation, and guess what, it remains woefully obvious that it is natural for a man & woman to be together in union. It is not really so difficult to fathom. Run along to the bathhouse for you morning hook-up now. Perhaps your hosting today, so that may be more convenient.
@mcguitarqueen Nothing more lovely than children exposed to your filthy, abhorrent, & perverse lifestyle. Your so-called 'family' can rot in hell.
"I sincerely hope they get taunted & picked-on relentlessly at school as a reflection of their 'parents' failures.... Your so-called 'family' can rot in hell. "
Do you pretend to be human in your spare time? Because you are certainly not doing it here.
And it would be nice if you could clarify those "issues" for me. It has already been proven, countless times, that gays and lesbians make just as good parents as straight couples, so that part of the argument is simply not arguable anymore. Besides, will you demand a certificate of fertility to every couple applying for a marriage licence? What about elderly couples? What about infertile couples?
TC Matthews: there is simply no rational basis for preventing gays and lesbians to marry. You say we have the right to marry: the right to marry someone of the opposite sex. This is simply NOT acceptable. We are not activists, we are not seeking to undermine the American society: we simply demand our rights. And we will keep on fighting as long as it is needed, tirelessly, EVERY day. We will not tolerate discrimination, hatred and bigotry based on religious ideologies, of any kind.
Guess what, TC Matthews? Marriage means something for us too! We believe marriage should be founded on love which is why we desire to marry someone WE love, not someone YOU would like us to love. And I should remind you that the so-called foundation of marriage is NOT religious. Look up the history of marriage and you'll find some interesting things. Marriage is first and foremost a social contract between two people, sanctioned, or not, by the church.
Another priceless comment (!!!) from NOM's blog, by TC Matthews: "Marriage means something. Marriage stands for something, that is something that cannot be had any other way without denying the very foundations of that institution. Until those issues can be adequately addressed, ssm activists have not a leg to stand on that is not based on personal attacks and innuendo." See my response in a post above...
@mcguitarqueer Oh my dear ass-rimming plebe, your sophomoric reasoning equating opposition of deviant & perverse sexual lifestyles with hate is like an old worn-out dress. Try something new please?
@djhartm Yes, calling homosexuality perverse, deviant and a lifestyle is hate. Do the readings. Homosexuality is not a choice, not a lifestyle, and anyways in terms of deviant and perverse, clean up your own churches before imposing your values on us. Because we really do not have to take lessons from you guys. And no, we won't try something new, because apparently you still havn't gotten the message. So sorry. Some education still remains to be done.
@djhartm Oh wait, we're disgusting and perverse? I never tried "ass-rimming", nor have I wrote that on the internet. Please keep your passtimes to yourself.
You're vomiting hate with every word you say and pushing decent, kind people away, thus adding to our numbers.
And NOM, for the record: YOU are imposing YOUR values on the rest of us. Stop acting like a child, like if you had anything to lose, the only thing you'll end up losing in the process is your credibility. Speak to gays and lesbians!!! Get to know them! We don't bite: that I promise. We can even be quite friendly, and answer questions provided it's done with respect. But if you ask us to give up our rights, you'll find us in our ways. We will fight for marriage equality, like it or not.
@Skulander1 You are the one who wants to change the rules that we all live by, but cannot support why you are entitled to or deserve the rights you demand.
The right to be presumed the father of your wife's child goes hand-in-hand with the obligation to actually be the father, to represent yourself truthfully.
Only ONE religion (Unitarian Universalism, aka humanism) believes that kinship is irrelevant, and wishes to force ITS belief on the rest of US.
@vicorii Nope. Sorry darling. NOM is the one doing the imposing here. And unless you show me why 2 moms or 2 dads cannot be good parents, your argument is irreceivable. I will not be intimidated by bigots over at NOM.
@Skulander1 To suggest that a child is not harmed by being forced to pretend that a stepfather is the same as a real mother?
Talk about "being forced to live a lie".
If it doesn't matter what gender your kinsman is, as long as he is "loving", why don't you put your money where your mouth is and marry your child's actual parent, instead of forcing your child to go without the most important relationship of all?
By YOUR reasoning, husband or wife shouldn't matter, as long as it's "loving", eh?
@vicorii No, a child is not harmed by living in gay families. What you and NOM are doing is a fully-fledged attack on the integrity of gay families, and we will NOT let you do this. You are attempting to demean our families, to destroy them, and it is absolutely unacceptable. We will NOT let you get away with that, spreading lies and hatred the way you do. We will expose you, over and over again.
@vicorii honey obviously you dont know what being gay is! if someone isnt happy with the opposite sex then they dont want to be with them! so why on earth would they marry them and be unhappy for the rest of their life with kids!? THATS child abuse!!
@Skulander1 You are welcome to play out your fantasies - or practice your humanist religion's view that nothing is sacred and family bonds are irrelevant - but you're not welcome to use coercive force to make strangers play along.
It's child abuse, and it's built on lies.
Recreational sex is not the center of a family, and "love" does not ask a child to go motherless.
@vicorii Again you are saying things that are simply unacceptable. I will NOT let you say that kids living in gay families are abused. Your bigotry and hatred simply knows no bounds: again, what would be a lie is living the way YOU would like us to live, to suit YOUR beliefs. It's not going to happen. You are on the losing side of this culture war, my dear. Love is at the basis of gay families, like it or not. You'll have to get used seeing us around, having children, rearing them, loving them.
@vicorii Because at the end of the day, I will simply not let you impose your religious bigotry on us. I will not let you destroy our families, I will not stand back as individuals like yourself prevent us from gaining our civil rights. You have no grounds on which to base your bigotry, and people are seeing clearly through your lies and homophobia. I will NOT marry someone I don't love simply because that would suit YOU. Not going to happen.
@vicorii You have NO business in telling others how to live their lives. This time is gone: it's over! Some dudes marry dudes, some chicks marry chicks: GET OVER IT! We have children, we have families, and like it or not you'll have to put up with us because we're not going away. We REFUSE to be shamed, to be told such things which is hate speech pure and simple. You have NO RIGHT to impose your bigotry on my chidlren. I have no patience for homophobic, hateful individuals.
@Skulander1 You are the one who has no business telling ME how to live MY life.
If you want to build your life - and your relationships - out of lies and make-believe, that's your business.
When you start passing lies requiring me to play along with your fantasies, I draw the line at exactly the point where you start demanding me to LIE for you.
No kid has "two daddies". Every kid in the world has the right to better than that. Let your kid know his real mother, that's not yours to take!
@vicorii Oh, but darling, I couldn't care less what you think of my relationship. But the LGBT community won't let people like you impose your religious bigotry and take away our rights. We demand full equality under the law: nothing more, but also nothing less. Are you so intellectually impoverished that you cannot graps such a simple concept?
We know for quite some time that kids need a loving, stable family. There is no "right" to a mom AND a dad, besides plenty of gay families have kids.
@vicorii So unless you come up with credible arguments to take away the rights of gays and lesbians, I insist on saying that your agenda is based on hatred, discrimination and homophobia. And we will be there to make sure your fully-fledged attacks and destruction of gay families is put to an end, once and for all. Freedom of religion is not freedom to hate. We will NOT let you teach OUR kids homophobia and hatred: not by a long shot. Good luck trying!
@vicorii And for the record: we do not want the whole of the US to be gay or lesbian. But we DO want ALL US citizens to feel free to truly be who they are. Without lies. Without entering loveless relationships. Without others like you hating them and discriminating against them, and against their families and friends.
There are a lot of children out there that have same-sex parents and they're growing up just as you, learning the same values and ideals that are not harming society in any way.
You have yet to prove me wrong. Find me a child that has been raised by a same-sex couple that has wreaked havoc on society (or anyone for that matter) based on his upbringing......
You can't. All you have is your ignorance and your fear of GLBT people you don't understand.
@vicorii stop being so damn disambiguous. With your weak rationale, you can say ANY parents are selfish by deciding to have a child for whatever reason. For example, many farm owners would have at least 5 children because they knew their child would be raised to help THEM, the parents, with their farmland. That's selfish too, and does not constitute the child's decision to be alive.
Yes, they do have same-sex parents. It's already starting to become legal and valid.
@vicorii In fact I think you'll find that many gay or lesbian couples each take a role-one more "feminine" and one more "masculine"-in child rearing....so it doesn't really matter about their biological sex, they do tend to have a mother and father figure. Either way, so long as those parents love their child, and care for their needs, I don't really see what's wrong with same sex families.
@vicorii "Real parents aren't selfish. Real parents do what is RIGHT for their kid. They don't use their kid for selfish things."
Which is why same-sex couples decide to adopt -- to give the child a better life in their family structure (and extended family) than in a home. The notion that you paint the entire system as black or white shows how ill-informed and opinionated you are. Relationships/family is dynamic.
Today, a woman named Donna posted the following on NOM's blog: "As we have learned, in California, all it takes is to bring the case for plural marriage before an activist polygamist judge...." I"d like to respond to that.
I'd like to remind her that the MORMONS are polygamists, and guess what? They gave LOTS of money FOR Prop Hate.
Polygamy is in the Bible.
Gays and lesbians never signer up for the legalization of polygamy. Once again, this is just plain homophobia, bigotry and hatred.
@AdamTh1 Very good point. It can't be found. And why? Because it doesn't exist. Gays and lesbian NEVER said traditional marriage was unconstitutional: all we want is our civil right to get married. Thanks Adam for pointing this out, and which seems very difficult to understand.
On another point: I'd very much like to be told HOW gay marriage will lead to polygamy, as I hear it countless times in anti-gay blogs. Sometimes, one's fears and prejudices just make one's imagination run wild.
@Skulander1 "I'd very much like to be told HOW gay marriage will lead to polygamy". Yes, I hear about that all the time too. "The law that permits gay marriage will lead to polygamy, you can marry your sister or your brother or both at the same time. That law will permit your daughter to marry the family's German Shepherd." And I hear a lot of this stuff on Christian oriented websites. I'm serious! It's ridiculous what they will come up with to deny equal rights to one group.
@AdamTh1 I know... Sigh. I also hear it ALL THE TIME, as those of us actually reading these blogs know. The only thing we can do is keep posting, and keep educating peole about why it's important to have marriage equality, what exactly is homosexuality (like if homosexuality was a "thing"... Anyways), and especially, about the lies promoted by the ultra religious right. Because the stuff they're saying is not only offensive, it's an insult to peoples' intelligence, and they deserve better.
@ToggleJabaut The fact that some gay men have married women before is irrelevant. Some are in the closet, some are bisexual. So what? Does that mean all people who aren't attracted to the opposite sex are lying to themselves?
The burden of proof for the claim "nobody is born gay" is on you.
It is sad that Walker's decision has given us San Franciscans a black eye. Mayor Newsom's flouting of the marriage laws was bad enough. Now we have a disingenuous federal judge ignoring evidence and precedence.
He claimed that limiting marriage to two opposite sex partners "unconstitutionally burden the fundamental right to marry," yet he ignores all of the other limitations, such as age restrictions, familial relationships, number of partners, and so on. And he ignored Baker v. Nelson.
Because AGE , FAMILIAL RELATIONSHIP and NUMBER OF PARTNERS all stands to cause harm. Same sex marriage does not. And he did not ignore Baker v. Nelson, do your homework.
@AnonyGrl1 Thank you for your comments. I will let the evidence and statistics speak for themselves on whether same-sex marriage stands to cause harm.
On Baker v. Nelson, you are right. Walker did not ignore this precedent completely but please notice I was only referring to Walker's final 136-page decision which offered no comment.
And since this case is binding precedent, he should have never held a trial due to the Supreme Court’s dismissal of Baker v. Nelson based on the case's merits.
mcquitarqueen, we don't hate the homosexual, but love them enough to fight for them and for what is good for the rest of society. Never before was homosexual marriages allowed. Are you so tolerate that you will allow people to marry their cousin, more then one person, or who ever or what ever the person chooses to live their life devoted too? Science, true nature backs us up!
@Himandmeable Well, no actually, because my goal isn't to one day marry my cousin or marry more than one person. I'll admit, there is some greed on my behalf. Because I am fighting for same-sex marriage so I can marry the person I see fit for me to be married to, without having people such as yourself be so kind as to decide that for me. But thanks.
Prop 8 inconstitutional. And now DADT!!!! I love how would like to deny us our civil rights are biting the dust!!! Me likes.
And after we gain the right to marry, we'll have to continue asking for much tougher laws against discrimination against gays and lesbians, nationwide!!!
@Skulander1 But you know, you've got trolls like djhartm, who usually just turn out to be closet gays anyway, so don't let it emotionally get to you. The truth speaks for itself, and being that I've had NOM supporters sending me obscene messeges, etc. people will catch on.
They're the hate group for our generation, but instead of it being racial, it's about orientation. The haters flock to NOM.
Someday, NOM will be a term in a history book that my lesbian-raised kids will read in high school.
@mcguitarqueen Oh yes, I know. *sigh* I've made an encounter with djartm myself. The only thing he could utter is insults. Insults and/or lies. That won't get you anywhere in any decent court. NOM is fighting a losing battle, and its supporters know it. It's sad that it's been given such space but at the same time, we should take the opportunity provided by their lies to educate people and have them realized what's behind the logic. Only Bible, Bible, Bible, and nothing else...
@Skulander1 A bible that most of them have never even read, let alone have the education to interpret. No worries- even Conservative judges are realizing that no religion is ever a basis for law. Gay Christians and Atheists pay taxes too. :)
Supporters and finances of NOM are falling rapidly. Just sit back, put your feet up, and watch. Too much interaction with haters is not worth the time :)
@mcguitarqueen Ah I know, most of them havn't bothered to read the Bible, just so they would know what they're talking about. At least yes, it's a comfort to know that NOM is more and more isolated, and fighting a losing battle. There's still much to do though, not only getting marriage equality, but after that we'll have to push for much, much stronger laws so that kids never feel like they have to kill themselves simply for being who they are...
Gay people are simply stating that their free will of being married should not be controlled by law. Acceptance of the fact that they are free willing people like the rest of us is necessary. LOVE is the way...because fear is the absence of LOVE.
@MrVlogasaurusX I feel for you, my friend. People just don't understand that gay marriage isn't going to affect anyone else's marriage... it's rediculous the arguments they come up with, while on the pro-gay side, we have arguments that are actually supported by our rights and freedoms. And to answer your question: maybe, MAYBE, about 25% of the people in America are realistic these days....
@ToggleJabaut You're an idiot. People don't "choose" to be gay or lesbian. We are born that way. Why would someone "choose" to be ridiculed, put down, and beat up every day just because of who they love? Seriously.
@RavenNation Did you choose to be straight? you do not understand anything about child development and outside influences and how the human is shaped...we are all "Product Of Conditioning".. They can conclusively prove why we are straight, they have yet to prove why people are Gay you should read more instead of being argumentative for the sake of being politically correct.
@judson43 I am not straight. I am a lesbian. I did not "choose" to be a lesbian, nor is it a "Product of Conditioning", or how I was raised. I was born gay, and that is it. That is fact for me. Even as a young child, I knew that I liked other girls. I didn't even really know what a lesbian was when I was that young. I understand plenty about child development, because I studied it, along with psychology. Don't assume that I know nothing about child development from one comment.
@judson43 And also, I am not being argumentative for the sake of being politically correct. I was stating how I feel to some guy who was saying that homosexuals should "choose" to be straight just so that the heterosexual people have more options for dating. It has nothing to do with politics.
I love how the most of the comments I'm reading on here are basically preaching the Christian/Catholic religion(Don't know where you all live but here in America, that's illegal...).... But besides that, I feel this whole video is rediculous and totally pointless. San Fran gays are NOT forcing their values on other people/cities/states ect. They are standing for what is CONSTITUTIONAL. I don't see why heteros should be concerned about gays being married, it's not like it affects them anyways...
@DarkHeartMaster13 Actually that exactly the issue, the Constitution defines marriage as one man one woman. But you don't see the big picture and you have not seen how Policies change the atmosphere of a country. The more people force there own personal agendas the more divided the country becomes. It is bigger than a personal feeling, Californians voted not to stop Gays from being gay, 71% voted against changing the "Meaning" of marriage that has been since the beginning of time.

CTS316 10 months ago

Your argument does not carry any proof.
thecommercialedge 1 year ago
Oh good God...I love how NOM makes it sound like gay marriage will be the end of the world. Gay people aren't trying to make everyone else gay. People who aren't married have successful families & many adopt. Are they saying that being a single parent is "sin," too? What about people who can't have kids? Or unwed mothers or divorced people? According to the "values" they project, they're all worthless & should be illegal, too. Believe what you want, but at least don't be shady & inconsistent.

Kids need and want BOTH!
mmbrads 1 year ago
@mmbrads Yes, forcing people to pretend that kinship does not matter is going to create an anger that will look a lot like hate.
Kinship is relevant to those of us who actually value strong families.
Being told that we have to pretend that any two people who want to falsify a family tree is the same as a real family has a real impact on those of us who observe the obligations that go with kinship
It's more than just free riders hanging on. It's a fundamental change to the structure of family.

Not at all.
Skulander1 1 year ago
How will marriage equality undermine any fundamental values anyways? That I would certainly like someone to explain. It's not enough to simply say these things: you have to show how it may be detrimental in significant ways to society. You havn't, so far. And in states where there is marriage equality, divorce rates are falling. People have more inclusive views, they tend to inform themselves, in other words, they contribute to built a society in which I would like to live in.
Skulander1 1 year ago
Actually, John, NOM has been utterly unable to show any evidence that marriage equality will undermine society. On the contrary, civil rights for ALL its citizens has in the past always brought positive social changes, and a more just, equal and inclusive society. Unfortunately, your views are skewed by your fears and ignorance, which makes your imagination run wild. Marriage has been legal in qutie a few countries now: these societies are doing rather well, indeed. Less crime, more openess.
Skulander1 1 year ago
Another great piece of stupidity and ignorance, from John, again from NOM blog, concerning marriage equality: "This further divide being placed between men and women tends to dissolve the fundamental bonds necessary to hold a society together. Western society appears to be dissolving right in front of our eyes (...). This is the most convincing evidence yet that the human race is an evolutionary dead end." See my response above...
Skulander1 1 year ago
Because however one feels about homosexuality, bullying someone because they are who they are is downright acceptable. And don't give me the usual response "homosexuality is a behavior that can be cure." No. It's not, and it can't. Please, move on, on that one, because it's really getting you nowhere, only making you look more foolish. I know that's what your religion teaches you. It doesn't mean its true: just look at the studies. And discrimination should never be made acceptable. At any time.
Skulander1 1 year ago
But why do I bring religion here? Because religions parents are actively seeking in the Anoka-Hennepin district to prevent anti-bullying laws to be passed, supposedly on religious grounds. Ya know, the whole "homosexuality is sinful" kind of thing. Sure. Ok. You're free to believe that. BUT: that also means, you don't care that kids die because of your hatred. Not that you'll admit it: but it's still the end result. And that's the tragedy. That's what I mean by "we need much tougher laws" thing.
Skulander1 1 year ago
Perhaps one more thing on the topic hate: ever heard of the Anoka-Hennepin district? Well you may want to know that 3 kids killed themselves over the summer. Why? Because they were harrassed. And why were they harrassed? Because they were gay. Other kids at school bullied them and hated them so much, that these 3 kids saw no other way out and commited suicide. I don't know about you, but for a religion that prones the respect of life, such hate is, to me, quite unbelievable.
Skulander1 1 year ago
Anti-religious hate... Funny, coming from a guy who offered to track me down and beat me up. How classy. I'm confused about who's doing the hate here. I'm not against religions, never were, never will. Whether you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.: totally fine by me. But if you're going to prevent me from getting my rights, harrassing me, insulting me, threatening me physically, it's a bit bizarre to me that you would expect gays and lesbians to just sit down and watch. Not in the plan.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 They don't like anti-religious hate. Just religious hate.
mcguitarqueen 1 year ago
@mcguitarqueen Indeed, they pick and chose their kind of hate. It's perfectly ok to hate others that don't think like them. It's ok to see teens kill themselves for being harrassed, and not do anything about it, not only that, but to actively prevent to push for laws protecting gays and lesbians from being bullied in schools. It's ok for gays and lesbians to be beaten up, and sometimes even die. For a lesbian house in Tenessee to be burned down, simply for existing.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@mcguitarqueen But if we DARE speak up against that, if we DARE to be outraged against that kind of bullshit, then we're accused of being haters, discriminatory, and of preventing them from their freedom of religion. It's just disgusting how they play themselves out as victims, calling themselves of victims of Christian persecutions as I've seen on NOM's blog. Really shameful...

@mcguitarqueen Wow! That's from djartm right? Again, very classy. Just ignore him. Or block him, for that matter. He's not worth the trouble. But let's keep posting. It's important to debunk these myths, and the hate and lies behind NOM and its fear campaign.
Skulander1 1 year ago
Again, sooo many myths need to be debunked, here goes some other ones. All are from Karl, again concerning this very add on NOM's blog. First one: "The judge is suppose to be neutral, how can a activist gay judge (yes a judge who actively is promoting and advocating gay rights) be neutral in judging a law that restricts the rights of a group he belongs to?" 1st: NOM didn't have any problem with his sexuality BEFORE the reuling. (See above)
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 2nd: Judge Walker is not actively promoting gay rights as an "activist." He is only presenting facts, yes facts, from science, which we have known for a long time. So yes, he's pretty neutral: he didn't make up these facts, he didn't invent things that didn't exist.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 And then, another comment: "He switched the burden of proof from the plaintiffs to the defendants. Again, another major abuse of power." Sorry Karl, but if you're going to discriminate against me, you better tell me why. It's plain common sense. Again: you're upset because no such grounds exist for discriminating against gays and lesbians.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 Also Karl wrote: "As per the Constitution of the United States, Judges can NOT write laws. He was writing laws. Again, another abuse of power." Nope. Judge Walker did not write laws. You're right: he hasn't got the power to do that. He only ruled that Prop HATE is unconstitutional. This, of course, will have a major impact, but it's another story, outside the verdict itself.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 Karl wrote: "He also told the voters of California that they do not have the right to legislate sexual behaviors. I'm not talking about the right of people to privacy, but the right of society to regulate behaviors." Legislating sexual behaviors??? You know, homosexuality has been deemed illegal well before Judge Walker's ruling. He certainly isn't imposing any behavior on anyone, and certainly not telling you that you can't be straight.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 So that's quite a wild claim. People certainly have the right to chose their partner, and if anything, seems like YOU are imposing your sexual behaviors on ME. It goes both ways, Karl, you see. I'm not telling you how to lead your sex life, and people certainly shouldn't be given the right to discriminate against me because I'm homosexual. And anyways, no: society should not regulate behaviors. Society should not force people to act a certain way just because it wants them to.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 You also say, Karl: "Pedophile to take his ruling and say that it isn't fair to him that he can't have sex with young children." No. Absolutely not. When have you heard of gays and lesbians condoning pedophilia? Pedophila ruins peoples' lives. Homosexuality is love between 2 consenting ADULTS. Big difference here: your fears have made your imagination run wild on that one.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 Besides, Karl: if you want to legalize pedophilia, I'm sure some straight men would be happy not to see their behavior criminalized. Yes. You heard me right. Most pedophiles are straight men. Oh, and there's a bunch of priests, too, which are included. I'm still waiting for churches to take action against their pedophile priests: that would certainly heighten their level of credibility, which are rather low at the moment.
Skulander1 1 year ago
And the rest of it: " A caveat: if your issue with SSM is, primarily, a religious and/or moral argument absent any consideration of Constitutional law or the principle of separation of church and state, then no depth of debate can sway your judgement; we would have nothing to discuss." Great thoughts!!! THe constitution is based on the separation of church and state, like it or not. TC Matthews and others cannot base their judgments on religious principles. Period.
Skulander1 1 year ago
And here's a great rebuttal to TC Matthews's emotionally-driven contempt of gays and lesbians, again from NOM's blog: TC Matthews, I have read the entirety of Judge Walker's ruling. I think you have not. Please read the Judge's ruling, then we can have a knowledgable argument of its merits with respect to case and California law. Sound knowledge, as a basis for argument, should always trump stabs in the dark.
Skulander1 1 year ago
Another good one from TC Matthews, from the NOM blog: " Please, if you're going to try to make the case for why society should promote ssm on a rational basis, do so without the emotional crutches, it does nothing but add to your discredit." Funny, eh, the charges of emotionalism. Funny and ironic since NOM has been utteruly unable to put forth any credible, substantial argument against marriage equality. All they can do is appeal to their Bible, which is, to say the least, far from rational!!!

We can't prevent them for putting forth such lies: but thankfully, we CAN debuke them, and point out how utterly irrational and ridiculous NOM's views are.

@ScienceReasonBelief Honestly, that might be hyperbole? I really do not think there is no level to which NOM will be unwilling to stoop.

Skulander1 1 year ago

So your so called 'right' to marriage is entirely invalid.
djhartm 1 year ago
@djhartm Awwww. Resorting to insults now, are we? Kinda cute. As for AIDS, thanks for the wishes. But you know, I'm actually a responsible person so I take the necessary precautions when I have sex. And no, there's no way marriage should be only between a man and a woman. Just because you want it so doesn't justify the discrimination. Sorry.

Must be awful knowing that 7 million people do not support gay marriage.
djhartm 1 year ago
@djhartm Gay marriage is working out wonderfully in CA. Prop HATE has been deemed unconstitutional, even DADT and DOMA (DOMA, a while ago actually). I can't wait until the 9th circuit and the Supreme Court rules that religious nutcases can't discriminate against us anymore. As for proofs, we've plenty. Judge Walker undermined every single one of you guys' arguments.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 Your credibility (or what little you actually claimed to ahve) just went right out the window. Try breaking away from your gay porn & do some legal research on Walker's 'circus show'. Even the liberal 9th is expected to invalidate his ruling (like so many of his others). SNAP! You might want to look up the definition of discrimination while you're at it, because your misuse of the term here is laughable.

AnonyGrl1 1 year ago
And it would be nice if you could clarify those "issues" for me. It has already been proven, countless times, that gays and lesbians make just as good parents as straight couples, so that part of the argument is simply not arguable anymore. Besides, will you demand a certificate of fertility to every couple applying for a marriage licence? What about elderly couples? What about infertile couples?
Skulander1 1 year ago
TC Matthews: there is simply no rational basis for preventing gays and lesbians to marry. You say we have the right to marry: the right to marry someone of the opposite sex. This is simply NOT acceptable. We are not activists, we are not seeking to undermine the American society: we simply demand our rights. And we will keep on fighting as long as it is needed, tirelessly, EVERY day. We will not tolerate discrimination, hatred and bigotry based on religious ideologies, of any kind.
Skulander1 1 year ago
Guess what, TC Matthews? Marriage means something for us too! We believe marriage should be founded on love which is why we desire to marry someone WE love, not someone YOU would like us to love. And I should remind you that the so-called foundation of marriage is NOT religious. Look up the history of marriage and you'll find some interesting things. Marriage is first and foremost a social contract between two people, sanctioned, or not, by the church.
Skulander1 1 year ago
Another priceless comment (!!!) from NOM's blog, by TC Matthews: "Marriage means something. Marriage stands for something, that is something that cannot be had any other way without denying the very foundations of that institution. Until those issues can be adequately addressed, ssm activists have not a leg to stand on that is not based on personal attacks and innuendo." See my response in a post above...

Skulander1 1 year ago 17
@Skulander1 You are the one who wants to change the rules that we all live by, but cannot support why you are entitled to or deserve the rights you demand.
The right to be presumed the father of your wife's child goes hand-in-hand with the obligation to actually be the father, to represent yourself truthfully.
Only ONE religion (Unitarian Universalism, aka humanism) believes that kinship is irrelevant, and wishes to force ITS belief on the rest of US.
Fraud is not a basic human right.
vicorii 1 year ago
@vicorii Nope. Sorry darling. NOM is the one doing the imposing here. And unless you show me why 2 moms or 2 dads cannot be good parents, your argument is irreceivable. I will not be intimidated by bigots over at NOM.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 To suggest that a child is not harmed by being forced to pretend that a stepfather is the same as a real mother?
Talk about "being forced to live a lie".
If it doesn't matter what gender your kinsman is, as long as he is "loving", why don't you put your money where your mouth is and marry your child's actual parent, instead of forcing your child to go without the most important relationship of all?
By YOUR reasoning, husband or wife shouldn't matter, as long as it's "loving", eh?
vicorii 1 year ago
@vicorii No, a child is not harmed by living in gay families. What you and NOM are doing is a fully-fledged attack on the integrity of gay families, and we will NOT let you do this. You are attempting to demean our families, to destroy them, and it is absolutely unacceptable. We will NOT let you get away with that, spreading lies and hatred the way you do. We will expose you, over and over again.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@vicorii honey obviously you dont know what being gay is! if someone isnt happy with the opposite sex then they dont want to be with them! so why on earth would they marry them and be unhappy for the rest of their life with kids!? THATS child abuse!!
ProAquaify 1 year ago
@Skulander1 You are welcome to play out your fantasies - or practice your humanist religion's view that nothing is sacred and family bonds are irrelevant - but you're not welcome to use coercive force to make strangers play along.
It's child abuse, and it's built on lies.
Recreational sex is not the center of a family, and "love" does not ask a child to go motherless.
vicorii 1 year ago
@vicorii Again you are saying things that are simply unacceptable. I will NOT let you say that kids living in gay families are abused. Your bigotry and hatred simply knows no bounds: again, what would be a lie is living the way YOU would like us to live, to suit YOUR beliefs. It's not going to happen. You are on the losing side of this culture war, my dear. Love is at the basis of gay families, like it or not. You'll have to get used seeing us around, having children, rearing them, loving them.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@vicorii Because at the end of the day, I will simply not let you impose your religious bigotry on us. I will not let you destroy our families, I will not stand back as individuals like yourself prevent us from gaining our civil rights. You have no grounds on which to base your bigotry, and people are seeing clearly through your lies and homophobia. I will NOT marry someone I don't love simply because that would suit YOU. Not going to happen.
Skulander1 1 year ago 2
@vicorii You have NO business in telling others how to live their lives. This time is gone: it's over! Some dudes marry dudes, some chicks marry chicks: GET OVER IT! We have children, we have families, and like it or not you'll have to put up with us because we're not going away. We REFUSE to be shamed, to be told such things which is hate speech pure and simple. You have NO RIGHT to impose your bigotry on my chidlren. I have no patience for homophobic, hateful individuals.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 You are the one who has no business telling ME how to live MY life.
If you want to build your life - and your relationships - out of lies and make-believe, that's your business.
When you start passing lies requiring me to play along with your fantasies, I draw the line at exactly the point where you start demanding me to LIE for you.
No kid has "two daddies". Every kid in the world has the right to better than that. Let your kid know his real mother, that's not yours to take!
vicorii 1 year ago
@vicorii Oh, but darling, I couldn't care less what you think of my relationship. But the LGBT community won't let people like you impose your religious bigotry and take away our rights. We demand full equality under the law: nothing more, but also nothing less. Are you so intellectually impoverished that you cannot graps such a simple concept?
We know for quite some time that kids need a loving, stable family. There is no "right" to a mom AND a dad, besides plenty of gay families have kids.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@vicorii So unless you come up with credible arguments to take away the rights of gays and lesbians, I insist on saying that your agenda is based on hatred, discrimination and homophobia. And we will be there to make sure your fully-fledged attacks and destruction of gay families is put to an end, once and for all. Freedom of religion is not freedom to hate. We will NOT let you teach OUR kids homophobia and hatred: not by a long shot. Good luck trying!
Skulander1 1 year ago
@vicorii And for the record: we do not want the whole of the US to be gay or lesbian. But we DO want ALL US citizens to feel free to truly be who they are. Without lies. Without entering loveless relationships. Without others like you hating them and discriminating against them, and against their families and friends.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@vicorii said "No kid has "two daddies"."
You can't. All you have is your ignorance and your fear of GLBT people you don't understand.
thecommercialedge 1 year ago
@thecommercialedge No, they don't have same-sex parents.
They have two men or two women who paid good money for the right to force them to pretend to not mind being motherless or fatherless.
Real parents aren't selfish. Real parents do what is RIGHT for their kid. They don't use their kid for selfish things.
vicorii 1 year ago
@vicorii stop being so damn disambiguous. With your weak rationale, you can say ANY parents are selfish by deciding to have a child for whatever reason. For example, many farm owners would have at least 5 children because they knew their child would be raised to help THEM, the parents, with their farmland. That's selfish too, and does not constitute the child's decision to be alive.
Yes, they do have same-sex parents. It's already starting to become legal and valid.
GET USED TO IT.
thecommercialedge 1 year ago
@vicorii In fact I think you'll find that many gay or lesbian couples each take a role-one more "feminine" and one more "masculine"-in child rearing....so it doesn't really matter about their biological sex, they do tend to have a mother and father figure. Either way, so long as those parents love their child, and care for their needs, I don't really see what's wrong with same sex families.
babyminnow 8 months ago
@vicorii "Real parents aren't selfish. Real parents do what is RIGHT for their kid. They don't use their kid for selfish things."
Which is why same-sex couples decide to adopt -- to give the child a better life in their family structure (and extended family) than in a home. The notion that you paint the entire system as black or white shows how ill-informed and opinionated you are. Relationships/family is dynamic.
Think harder.

Skulander1 1 year ago 3
@Skulander1 So true. I never got the polygamy memo. I'd just like to marry one woman.
mcguitarqueen 1 year ago 2
Can someone please show me where in the 130+ page ruling Judge Walker said marriage between 1 man and 1 woman is unconstitutional?
AdamTh1 1 year ago
@AdamTh1 Very good point. It can't be found. And why? Because it doesn't exist. Gays and lesbian NEVER said traditional marriage was unconstitutional: all we want is our civil right to get married. Thanks Adam for pointing this out, and which seems very difficult to understand.
On another point: I'd very much like to be told HOW gay marriage will lead to polygamy, as I hear it countless times in anti-gay blogs. Sometimes, one's fears and prejudices just make one's imagination run wild.
Skulander1 1 year ago
@Skulander1 "I'd very much like to be told HOW gay marriage will lead to polygamy". Yes, I hear about that all the time too. "The law that permits gay marriage will lead to polygamy, you can marry your sister or your brother or both at the same time. That law will permit your daughter to marry the family's German Shepherd." And I hear a lot of this stuff on Christian oriented websites. I'm serious! It's ridiculous what they will come up with to deny equal rights to one group.
AdamTh1 1 year ago
@AdamTh1 I know... Sigh. I also hear it ALL THE TIME, as those of us actually reading these blogs know. The only thing we can do is keep posting, and keep educating peole about why it's important to have marriage equality, what exactly is homosexuality (like if homosexuality was a "thing"... Anyways), and especially, about the lies promoted by the ultra religious right. Because the stuff they're saying is not only offensive, it's an insult to peoples' intelligence, and they deserve better.

Nobody is born gay, gay men have married women before, being born BISEXUAL sounds logical, because your still fucking the opposite sex.
Soon as someone is born gay, i'll be convinced evolution is heading backwards.
ToggleJabaut 1 year ago
@ToggleJabaut The fact that some gay men have married women before is irrelevant. Some are in the closet, some are bisexual. So what? Does that mean all people who aren't attracted to the opposite sex are lying to themselves?
The burden of proof for the claim "nobody is born gay" is on you.
Culiccidae 1 year ago
It is sad that Walker's decision has given us San Franciscans a black eye. Mayor Newsom's flouting of the marriage laws was bad enough. Now we have a disingenuous federal judge ignoring evidence and precedence.
He claimed that limiting marriage to two opposite sex partners "unconstitutionally burden the fundamental right to marry," yet he ignores all of the other limitations, such as age restrictions, familial relationships, number of partners, and so on. And he ignored Baker v. Nelson.
JeremiahA40 1 year ago
@JeremiahA40
Because AGE , FAMILIAL RELATIONSHIP and NUMBER OF PARTNERS all stands to cause harm. Same sex marriage does not. And he did not ignore Baker v. Nelson, do your homework.
AnonyGrl1 1 year ago

Never before was homosexual marriages allowed. judson43 1 year ago
RavenNation 1 year ago
@judson43 And also, I am not being argumentative for the sake of being politically correct. I was stating how I feel to some guy who was saying that homosexuals should "choose" to be straight just so that the heterosexual people have more options for dating. It has nothing to do with politics.
RavenNation 1 year ago
I love how the most of the comments I'm reading on here are basically preaching the Christian/Catholic religion(Don't know where you all live but here in America, that's illegal...).... But besides that, I feel this whole video is rediculous and totally pointless. San Fran gays are NOT forcing their values on other people/cities/states ect. They are standing for what is CONSTITUTIONAL. I don't see why heteros should be concerned about gays being married, it's not like it affects them anyways...
DarkHeartMaster13 1 year ago
@DarkHeartMaster13 Actually that exactly the issue, the Constitution defines marriage as one man one woman. But you don't see the big picture and you have not seen how Policies change the atmosphere of a country. The more people force there own personal agendas the more divided the country becomes. It is bigger than a personal feeling, Californians voted not to stop Gays from being gay, 71% voted against changing the "Meaning" of marriage that has been since the beginning of time.
