JESUS CHRIST, HIS CATHOLIC-UNIVERSAL-APOSTOLIC CHURCH, SACRAMENTS, THE BIBLE, MIRACLES, HEALINGS, ST. MARY APPARITIONS, MESSAGES FROM HEAVEN, SIGNS IN 2011 ARE NOT A MYTHOLOGY BUT THE REALITY !!!
@thprfssnl1 nope you've ignored my point. self praise is no praise and red herring is a red herring regardless how you dress it up. Dawkins has all the zeal of a true believer, His crusade/jihad disregards anything that doesn't fit in his pre-arrived at worldview. on 9/11 he stands shoulder to shoulder with many of the types of fundies that are his bug bear otherwise. He could share a fox hole with some in Helmand, you could envisage almost and it doesn't get closer than that.
I really don't like Islam and am angry at the feeling that we can't openly criticise it for its inhumanities in most enlightened countries like England. (It's important to hate the religion and not the majority race of course though.)
Perhaps Dawkins should try to forge links with those religious who also yelp that 'Them Mooslims attacked us on 9/11 cos they hate our freedom' . He and his followers have more in common with them (on that) than either likes to admit.
@Kanezert "those religious" (which is an incredibly broad term) are often comprised of people who identify themselves as followers (which is a word you flippantly used to describe the mass of people who are interested in the books of Dawkins) of Christ. They would have just as much reason to disagree with Dawkins then any other follower of Abrahamic religions or any religions for that matter. Your comment makes no sense.
@thprfssnl1 So you're denying that Dawkins is as guilty of blaming Islamists for carrying out 9/11 (the main pretext for war in the M.E) as many of those he sees as opponents, particulary on US fundamentalist right? It is either true or it isn't? so which?
@kennyznewpal@kennyznewpal who completely ignored my point which is a shame because it was a good one. I am saying that Dawkins is saying all religions should be scrutinized like any other ideology. Comparing that idea to the US fundamentalist right is foolish and the weakest kind of argument, they would be just as upset with this idea. Here's your source: newhumanist(dot)org(dot)uk(backslash)469(backslash)time-to-stand-up
You see, the difference between belief and science is that science is made up out cold, raw facts.
Whatever you want to believe, it will not change the initial fact of that particular subject. (I.e A cat will still be a cat, even if you believe it's a cow).
That means that a atheist cannot disagree on something that has been proved and use "faith" as the excuse to be wrong.
Because that's what faith is. An excuse to be wrong against better knowing.
Dead-to-the-spirit deluded "God Delusion" author & blithering fool scientist goon Richard Dawkins another "leader" given 2 the profane masses is another useful idiot 4 Jesuit machinations
Jesuitical; pertaining to the Jesuits or their principals; designing; cunning; deceitful; prevaricating
The Jesuit Order completely altered the education system 2 suit their Evo-Hoax Agenda to discredit the Bible
Papal Rome cant have their Counter Reformation Despotism 2nd Dark Age until Bible is destroyed
It looks like the idiots have come out to play in the comments... "RA RA RA!!! these issues are so important!!! Blah blah blah!!! Tyranny! It all effects my life so much! By life I of course mean, internet connection." How is it, that with more information being available to people than ever
so because technology is more advanced now than before abuse of power, corruption , lies etc are now of no concern -everybody back to sleep. Your arrogance is a pity for you as a fools' would be your best defense.
@kennyznewpal Haha. I didn't speak about technology you dumb ass. And you speak of a "defence" like I stated a position. I'm only saying that you're an idiot that's wasting their time. I do find it entertaining how serious you take it all. For me it's just a laugh. So please keep it up. :) "LIES!!! CORRUPTION!!! I'M EXPOSING IT ALL! RAAAAAAA" :D
Except you ARE taking a position even if you're too ignorant to know it. That your arrogance stops you from realizing it does nothing to alter that fact. Neither will your attempts at getting around it by crass insults do anything but point to the fact that you can't escape what you say, no matter how much you try.
@kennyznewpal Thank you so much for replying. :) I hope you keep up the good work opening everyone's eyes. Your YouTube comments are very important to us all. They matter so much. You're changing the world little buddy. Nice one for breezing past the Technology remark. I'm also impressed you didn't defend the fact that your an idiot. You just attacked me on my character. Touché. "HIS POINTS BE CRASS!!! ME ARE INTELLECTUAL!!! HIS COMMENTS NOT AS GOOD AS MY COMMENTS! HE IGNORANT! RAAAAA!!!"
well so good that you liked the reply. You might have been a handful for those where you are otherwise, one could imagine. But perhaps you could p try , or else perhaps ask your supervisor (very nicely now remember) to show how, to unlock the Caps Lock key when it sticks down on you next time. Still you efforts are coming along well.... well maybe .
@kennyznewpal Sorry but how can I make fun of a person whose posts make so much sense... Read back what you wrote and I'm sure you'll be as amazed as I am that anyone can be on your level. YouTube comment genius. "STILL YOU EFFORTS!" "COULD P TRY". Your points are irrefutable. All my base are belong to you.
@all7days Wow, from 'wild man from the hills' to anally retentive typo-correcter in one post, then back to type again. My that IS powerful ,albeit inconsistent , medication they given you since the last time, . Hardly over this alone though is it!! But congratulations on being able to unlock the Caps Lock key this time, and while it was better not to confuse you last time , it must have been encouraging for them that you avoided trying to hurt the 'r' and 'a' keys this time too.
@kennyznewpal Yay! You are so much entertaining with real sentences. I wasn't correcting you! I was applauding you! I'm sorry for the lack of "RAAs" but I couldn't pick out your argument or points as I couldn't make any out of your post. It must've went over my head. I enjoy how you have to speak about me being on Meds and needing supervision. I state you are idiotic for wasting your time and it hits so close to the mark you feel you need to attack me on made up points :) Brilliantly shallow. :D
@all7days You appear to have a touch of a Messiah complex at work there.. But let me give you a clue; I couldn't care less what your views are. That should come as help. Funny too that you claim not to be American since you certainly use the language of one, albeit of the type that doesn't know English very well. Are you sure you aren't an American who thinks that he isn't? Why would any non-American want to talk like an arrogant ignorant loud mouth braggart US street urchin ? How odd!
@kennyznewpal Wow... You really hate the American nation. I love the word "Braggart"! Haven't heard it in way too long :) I do "Claim" to not be a Yank. It's not that I hate them all like you so righteously do. It's because my family or I aren't from there. You surely could do better insults. You definitely smart enough...
I know at the very least you'll reply to this, because you must. It's the type of person you clearly are. Smite me with your words! "LOUD MOUTH!" "ARROGANT!" Can't wait :)
@all7days Let me explain, the traits were a description of you! As 4 "hating the American nation", you have already been accused of been an effective apologist for the real perps of 9/11 by attempting to hinder debate of what really happened. That being that case,it doesn't give you a lot of high ground to accuse others of such, as much as you'd try. Since you reject the idea of a fools' pardon, then diminished responsibility is all that's left for you, it appears, complete with meds!
@kennyznewpal All I have stated is that you're an idiot. Mainly because you're passionate in a very stupid way. I'm sure it makes you feel more comfortable to place me in some sort of gang or group with a leader and a doctrine. I guess it's a symptom of your condition. Also when you speak of an American as someone who doesn't know English very well... I think that's projecting your view about Americans. Don't you?
P.S Sorry for the serious sounding post. Don't worry. I still find you funny.
@all7days It's hilarious how warmongers like you think by just throwing up a troll smokescreen of bluster and abuse and denying what you REALLY are, that you can hide that your REAL default position is that of SUPPORT OF DAWKINS VERSION OF 9/11/THE OFFICIAL ACCOUNT OF 9/11 and ALL the other false pretexts he uses. You are full of it!
@UFoolzRclones hahah I have no opinion on 911.... I'm not American. Sorry to disappoint you, but most peoples lives and opinions don't revolve around the same things yours do. 911 had a trivial impact on my life though it was a terrible act.
Dawkins and his fan base who agree with him/condone his promotion of the official account of false flag attacks like 9/11 are more morally complicit in the ever encroaching tyranny that is taking over humanity than the most the people he attacks are for religious conflict - no matter how names and false accusation they try to throw at their critics.
Agreed how can RD justify his constant use of the official account of 9/11 to back up his thesis? He looks as much a fanatic as anyone he attacks - disregarding evidence that doesn't fit into his pre-determined world view.
@kennyznewpal wow and aren't some of his defenders here very 'liberal' i.e. liberal with their smears, accusation and insults that is ;-)
More than just that, an Internet 'Troll' in their mindset is apparently somebody who respectfully airs a view about RD that they don't want to hear - by the looks of it that is a really, REALLY bad thing to do too.. Hope somebody gets them to update the definition. It's wrong everywhere else ;-)

I see the brain as a car engine, when you've got a mis-firing spark plug (thought, that's religiously dogmatic), a good mechanic (an intellectual atheist) can replace the old spark plug (traditional dogmatic thought) with a new one (scientific explanation), and fit it correctly so it fires properly (teach it in a way you can grasp it), and provide the diagnostic solution for your engine to work properly thereafter.
I like the fact that Dawkins and McEwan are so thoroughly polite. They express superbly their thoughts and views on religion without any ranting or pseudointellectualism and do not resort to cheap insulys that frequently fall from the lips of the 'religious'.
@ph03n1xamb1t sounds like a plan.their church service would never be the same, they might end up "enlightened" more than what their insane skyguy gives them anyway
A remarkable interview that displays intelligence, compassion, insight and vision. If only all the world coud follow by being the same i.e. understanding and tolerance that this interview eminates.
If people had met Dawkins 2,000 years ago then maybe we would be looking at a different 'god' now.
Answer is easy, God exists because we do. Without the underlying oneness we could not have this communication. All things are next to another thing. We would not exist if we were not in some way related by oneness! If this oneness was incorrect. You would not exist. God is simply one law or principle that contains all. We are divisions of that, hence our friction or duality. Evolution and Creation must merge into harmony otherwise they are in part both wrong.
@TheFajingMove Though interesting, I don't feel your opinion is right. Just because God is a creation of our conscience doesn't mean we are a creation of him.
@mitchskater Hi, exactly, I agree with you. When you say "a creation of him" it suggests he is some how separate to things? To me it is not separate to anything. More we are separate? God transcends both my and your opinion because of this division. Transcends my conscience even. God would be the full consciousness that we all operate within which enables us to move forward in knowledge towards that full consciousness. It would take many forms to get there. Our words mirror our Division.(-:
@TheFajingMove..Hi to you, I would say, when some1 says "who created the universe" I would easily say, If you wanna know something so exceptional that could not have an answer, question GOD..do not have a sublime thought of creation of universe. How do we know there's other galaxies then ours...Time, and technology. Some day we will uncover the essence of the universe!! But answering GOD..well, you(general speaking) cannot speak for a god..if it does exist!!!
@freedomland11 Hi, mate, I don't believe in an individual GOD and so I am not speaking for him because there is no him as such. Words and perspectives are easily misunderstood hence the division of man. Why God. For me this is why. "I exist" and Im sure I didn't put the planets and galaxies there! Im not saying someone else did. From one comes all both in form (Big bang and evolution yes of course) and in consciousness (self observing) and these must be closely related and effect each other (-:
@TheFajingMove..Hey, Mate(I love when I hear my english friends say that..also the word brilliant)!! I agree with you in some sort :)...When someone gives there analytical view about the universe..they may mention science or God, but to me I do believe in a higher power but that doesn't mean that it interfered with the world being created. My thinking is since nothing can create something, than there had to be some energy..some force that allowed the occurrence for that life. you get me?
@freedomland11 Hi, bro, yeah I get you. I agree with that too. That force is what I call God I guess and as you said it hasn't a beginning or end. We may work under that fundamental law all the same no matter what I say or believe. .. Since we have "will" then it too probably has a "will", only more fundamental/unified. Yeah I agree nothing can create something in the supernatural divided sense anyway, but life is continuous creation(change) all the time(-: ... Lets make it better than before(-:
@TheFajingMove...Not to justify one answer..that god created the beginning..but what if we take into the scientific way. What if between the space in the universe, there was energy that needed to burst atoms and other energy together to let something occur. We have to face the facts, that science is factual, and we cannot just allow ourselves to be close minded and just say "yo, there you go..if you can't find an answer" then god did it... You get me bro?
@freedomland11 Cool, I get that and face the facts of science like you say. I also think though that we can relate that science to our own experience of being. What if you cut something in half and kept doing so could you do that forever? No because in order to be connected by this energy, this energy must be non-divided. Consider this, how can anything operate without it's opposite? 0101 Even universal form or division. Energy is intelligent because we are? Atoms are energy. Cool thanks mate.
@freedomland11 : You should look into the latest studies in physics (cosmology) as far as "nothing can create something" - from which it still does not follow then therefore a superior being of some kind must have done it ;-) A few readings from respected scientific publications should do it, or at least give you food for more thought. Honestly, I think you are a non-believer already, but I might be wrong :-))) Cheers.
@bersa888...I am a non believer, when God is put in the "religious" category.. You must see the scientific view of "how the universe began"... I surely believe in some sort of Higher power, but The universe is soo massive that we aren't the special one's but one in millions possibly billions of other species in the universe.. Did you hear about the earth-like planet that revolved around a sun like ours, that is very similar to earth?.. I just don't believe in religion..Religion=Man Made
@freedomland11 I don't believe in a higher power, i believe in the infinite energy and matter and the laws of physics and nature. Everything is man made, even "freewill" Stephen Hawking said there's no such thing as free will, because we cannot bend the laws of physics or nature no matter how much we want, we will still get hungry no matter if we want or not, we have to go to the toilet if we want or not. Religion tries to say human is more special than anything, but we are really just animals
@ScandinavianEmokid....There is no real way to define "infinite"...Any scientist you ask "if the cosmos is infinite?" they will not give you a "yes" but a questionable theory on what the cosmos(universe) is. Again, you cannot justify A higher power as religion, didn't u read my comment below?? religion is Man-Made, and science is what IS!! I mean, look at the word you used "Higher Power" that in itself is "Science" physics can be different, just like you can float in H2O and not on land!!
@freedomland11 Energy can not be created, nor destroyed it can only change form, that is infinite. Science isn't a higher power, science is investigation of questions, testing and retesting. Science is a Latin word and means knowledge. You cannot call it a higher power. Science is also man made...lol, it's just that people that were into science were murdered by religious fanatics earlier
@ScandinavianEmokid..Glad you wrote back! Your right, energy cannot be created, but lets withhold our thought of some skygod. There's lots that we don't know, but that doesn't mean that every flagellant claim should be thrown out there. Science is man made. such as the E=mc2. Science is knowledge, and is tested. We cannot test something that we know nothing about. The problem with religion, is that it tries to understand how the universe works, and that I do have a problem with!
@freedomland11 i agree, but one thing, religion never tried to find out how the universe works, there are still people today denying there's a universe. If the pope had gone out and said that the universe isn't real, guess who many who would agree? ALOT. That's my problem with religion, all the evil and justified murder and rape and genocide done within the religions. You know what the Muslims pray to in the desert? Mecca? It's a black rock, that landed in the dessert..you probably get my point.
@freedomland11 the higher power thing is completely unnecessary. it's such a vague concept, it practically claims nothing, other than that the universe as a whole is very awesome and far beyond our understanding, the only claim it really seems to make is that some sort of consciousness or being created all the matter in the universe. You must see that this is a stupid thing to say, how would this being fabricate the matter, what would it's raw materials be? Why would it do this? etc.
Also, probably one of the more difficult questions to ask:
What being created this being that created the universe? (If you believe that everything needs to have a comprehensive start and end. I can't say I really do).
@freedomland11 i dont mean to sound like a jerk, the so called "belief" in some sort of higher power just seems like a very cowardly way of hedging one's bets on the god question, while trying to appear above religion, but still sensitive to it. As i said, the concept really is hollow, anyway, so why not abandon it? It'll be like taking off a bandaid.
Our words mirror our Division.(-:
this was great. Really enjoyed. Helped along a lot of feelings and questions that i had. Would love to have atheists referred to a "bright". Sounds good to me.
Regarding Europe's modern retreat into secularism and America's advance toward theocracy, it seems to me that defeat is a better teacher than victory. We Americans have not yet had the illusion of divinity beaten out of us by continual, hopeless loss.
@british123able Who created God in that case? That's a bit of a cop out too, believing in it purely because we haven't explained yet for certain what actually happened. There was a time when we didn't understand how the sun rose. God got that too, till scientists proved what was really going on. Religion is too readily used to plug the gaps in our understanding, when in fact its very inclusion raises more questions than it answers.
@british123able - this conversation was not boring at all but actually very intelligent and very true in regard to how serious people worshipped the deities of ancient Greece as if they were real but now no one prays to them so what makes the other religions more real. And there is no such thing as respect towards another religion if you are religious only secularist have the ability to treat all religions to an equal standing.
@ThePublicIsInsane i find it easier to believe in god than believeing "the universe just happened" it just "sprung into existence from nothing- (literally nothing) and thats the leap of faith you take when you say that
@british123able..I agree with you with that, but you also have to agree that Faith is just a coin toss..."I have faith I'm going to win the lottery" same concept as "I have faith that my friend will get better" its a guess with a beautiful name...The is sooo much energy in space that there isn't such thing as a "NOTHING"....you get me?
I really connected with his statement about a "self-made" religion. When I was a child, I had my own kind of prayer and imagined my dead grandparents were watching me, though I did not care much about jesus or god.
@kakyamer That actually makes a lot of sense, I'm sure they were much better people than god, never condemning anyone to hell or ordering the killing of thousands of people. Also, they actually existed.
They certainly are given the VIP treatment by the media establishment. Yet they still peddle out the official yarn when it comes to OBL and 9/11. maybe because the truth just mightn't fit their own world-views perhaps.
@kennyznewpal Who said I wanted to debate? Don't put your words in my mouth and tell me to shut up. Besides, if you honestly, truly, really want to debate, PM me; I'm not confining myself to 500 characters a pop...
If you post on a discussion forum your comments are fair game for comment, but you attacked rather than reply respectfully. You've been called out correctly on that . I have no intention of making my point privately nor is it not for you to dictate where or how I do. FTR I couldn't care less what you think. But the issue will be raised whether you like it or not.
Methods to censor YT if you so wish include to get YT themselves to erase comments uploads etc or for the channel owner to do so. As it appears you don't like your idols attacked. Cult-like behavior by any standards.
oops - just realized that you made totally false accusations in your first reply, including of doing exactly what you did to me i.e. putting your words in my mouth . care to apologize or would you prefer be continue to be seen as an unrepentant dissembler ?
here's a question to help you redeem yourself if it's not already too late for you: ; Why does the same mass media that peddles 9/11 official account also fervently push aggressive secularists such as Dawkins in particular? Any suggestions?
@kennyznewpal Which media specifically, because for example the BBC has had pretty much nothing on either 9/11 or Mr Dawkins in ages and ages. So clarify if you will. Also, Dawkins is about as aggressive as a sedated kitten, you're just over-sensitive I'm afraid...
On the contrary the BBC has been and continues to be one of if not the most ardent promoters of the official account of 9/11. They have gone out their way to use their slick propagandist ploys in hit jobs such as the 'Conspiracy Files' series. They are marking the 10 anniversary by screening a 9/11 conspiracy road show which appears is going to be an outright attack on 9/11skeptics. BTW there's more than just British TV/media. Dawkins is a global media pundit.
@kennyznewpal You know, I like McEwan for the honesty and originality of his early books, his later aren't so good. I myself am a writer and I admire his early style. As for Dawkins, I like the way he speaks against Islam, not in a general sense, but in the sense of its unfair indoctrination of children, and also how he makes accessible the argument for the environmental subjectivity of religious belief; the easiest to understand and most comprehensive argument against organised religion.
@kennyznewpal I don't really have a great deal of interest in 9/11, truth be told. I'm more interested in anthropomorphism as a literary technique, not only as a character shaping device, but also as a perspective device. Also, the philosophy of Individualism is something I've only just dipped my toes into. I like IDM music too. If you want to talk about that I'd be happy, but I'm afraid I'm a bit wasted on 9/11 and all that jazz...
@kennyznewpal The reason I thought you were a troll was because according to your history you do a lot of these 9/11 kinda things, and the fact that you should pick on me to answer questions I have little interest in is a little trollish. Maybe I'm over-reacting; maybe when you go to work or school you talk to your friends about 9/11 and conspiracies, which is fair enough. I'm just not that interested, sorry. There are lots of other people you can talk to though. Plenty more fish, etc.
@VincentBrooke1 Now looky here, to disagree with somebody on a public forum is hardly tantamount to picking on them, unless it done in abusive fashion of course. All comments are fair game for response. The point being that somebody in the public eye who promotes one of the greatest falsehoods of our time ( used as a pretext for enormous bloodletting and official encroachment on personal space etc) doesn't deserve to held in high regard.
@kennyznewpal *shrug* sure, 9/11 was an inside job and we're all Zionist slaves. Hell, Dawins is probably a nasty Jew-banker-illuminati-martian who is taking the Bible out of schools, the bastard! In fact, yes, I've decided I want to join your trolling elite. Where do I sign up, brother? Onward Christian soliders! SIEG HEIL!!!
@kennyznewpal Firstly, it's Nobel; there's nothing noble about Nobel. Secondly, I don't respect the Nobel prize at all, or any other literary prize. McEwan won the Jerusalem Prize (sure you've got something to say about that) a little while back and he took the opportunity, not to talk of his books, but to talk of the conflict and he crticised both Israeli and Palestinian governments. He visited a peace and equality group and donated his prize money to them. That's how evil and biased he is. :P
@VincentBrooke1 your best chance of prize might be for the 'Internet troll who accuses his critics of trolling' award. Since I didn't say much about McEwan -(other than he's wrong about 9/11 and doesn't deserve credit for that) the information is interesting but superfluous . Can imp, lying that you can solely decide what constitutes criticism of the Zionist Entity be as big a thrill as being able to correct somebody's typo online- i mean even better than that much deserved award?
@kennyznewpal About the typo; I was making a joke about my opinions of the award. Anyway, I can't be bothered to get into a silly debate about 9/11 with you, but seeing as your channel is now mysteriously 'not available' I'm clearly going to have to put up with more of you trolling, right? I don't mind replying, it only takes about minute, so go ahead, troll away... :P
@VincentBrooke1 You 'reply' but your critics 'troll' . . So 9/11 is 'silly'?. Dawkins is responsible for pushing the official account as he did on this piece which has been used as a false pretext for war and infringement of liberties . No amount of snootiness is going to alter that fact. Neither if you evade the issue while making gross generalizations about skeptics in particular will entitle you to a free ride, get it? it is strange that you act as though it should.
@kennyznewpal Yes, you're a typical troll. You've backed me into a corner with your boring arguments about 9/11 whatever... I frankly am not interested, pick on someone else. Or better yet, check out some videos which debunk 9/11 myths, or ones that don't, or whatever. Why come to this video, to me, and ask me the questions which you know I don't have the answers for, and on a topic of which I could not give more of a fuck...?
@VincentBrooke1 except i i didn't pick on you, i made a point about the video and you responded by immediately attacking - that was the course of events that anybody can see. After that was mostly your attempts to justify your actions and then resorting to attacking yet again. If you don't want your views challenged you should be more careful about publishing them in an space where they are fair game. You obviously need to go somewhere you have total control, try your own blog maybe.
@VincentBrooke1 In truth this exchange is boring me I was hoping you'd have signed out posts ago.- you were merely one of many i discuss with at a given time anyhow . But one last point, Mr. imagined victimization if you are an example of Dawkins "brights" , the NWO should be very happy with his work-- as I suspect that they are as it is- He is a classic 'expert idiot' for them IMO.
@VincentBrooke1 The irony of somebody claiming to base his views of empirical evidence who has obviously closed his mind to the mountain of evidence that points to 9/11 as a false flag operation is perhaps only surpassed by his assertion that all religious beliefs lead to a 9/11- when in fact fellow atheists such as Christopher Hitchens overtly support the effective destruction of nations in the name of secular humanism since 2001.
Dawkins by default openly blames all religious belief for what he regards as unacceptable. he uses the 9/11 lie as a justification for that -as he did on clearly this piece. Yet there is not only little evidence to back it up but there is much to point to it being a lie. His manner may be that of an Anglican Vicar at a village jam stall, but he has all many of the traits of those he'd condemn- as, by your actions here, do, at least some of his fans.
I love when you've been thinking something your whole life but you have no idea how to put it into words, and then someone says it and youre like "WOW THAT'S IT!" thanks Ian :D
I'm not sure how i feel about Dawkins always using the term Darwinian in reference to himself. If he means that he supports the Darwinian model of evolution over, say, the Lamarckian then sure. But it's a term that's frequently jumped on by creationists to make out that "darwinians" or "evolutionists" have faith.
Can you not believe in "God" and believe in reincarnation? They seem to be separate thoughts and a spark of consciousness. Also this is probably the first video Richard Dawkins isn't really attacking the person his interviewing. I like what McEwan and maybe there is no God or maybe we are "God" simply one large consciousness willing to experience within our bodies and seem separate from each other to experience our lives with love.
Abraham came from a culture that required of him, a great tribal leader, that he sacrifice his own son. How did he get out of it? Well, his God was to be more powerful than all other gods put together, and furthermore would admit of no other gods whatsoever. It probably wouldn’t have worked if he said there were no gods and the whole thing absurd. He started a new religion with the biggest and best God. Of course, he may simply have been an atheist trying to save his son
This is by far the most graceful, eloquent and inspiring video, albeit interview I have ever seen; especially for me as an atheist struggling with accepting rationalism and "spirituality" as hand in hand - which I now wholesomely do, thanks to this interview. No longer shall I allow the dogma of condescension from theists who propose I cannot feel the way they do. I feel as powerfully as any other, if not more due to it being my own. Thankyou for this interview.
McEwan's lucidity is inspiring....I imagine he prepared somewhat for the interview, but most people would have to prepare long and hard to phrase their points with the same eloquence he demonstrates speaking off the cuff. Not all mega-successful writers deserve their success, but he certainly does.
@Huchian I agree completely? I find it very hard to talk sometimes, especially with customers under pressure. I think its cos I studied maths related topics most of my educational life..
Religious belief is an expression of humanity's deep collective yearning to understand more about its own existence. It's the cosmic equivalent of a child saying, "Daddy, why does this happen?" At present the "faithful" are unwilling to accept athiesm because its answers are vague and unsatisfying -- albeit honest. Trust me, Christians and Muslims would drop their faiths in an instant if science discovered something truly groundbreaking about the nature of reality, but that won't happen soon.
Athiests are wary of stirring up debate about Islam because they're scared of the reprisals -- namely, a death sentence issued by an indocrinated nut-job who believes he has the authority to act the executioner in God's name. The aggrogance, to think oneself justified in extinguishing another human being's LIFE for speaking his mind in a free and democratic society. This, more than anything else about Islam, sickens me. How can any right and moral religion endorse such evil? Think! Break free!
"Realist" would be a good word to replace athiest if it didn't already have a more general meaning. It seems appropriate to me, as atheists believe in what they can touch, taste, smell, hear, see and prove using practical, unbiased scientific methods, and it's not as condescending as "bright". I agree with everything you say, Mr Dawkins, but c'mon, "bright" is never gonna fly! You might a well make giving priests and rabbis the middle finger atheism's holy salute while you're at it. lol
I cannot dispute the idea that something beyond us, that we could label as God, may have created the universe. This thing may or may not have interest in this universe, as this universe may be a by-product for something larger or it specifically set the laws in motion for a certain end purpose.
What I can dispute is the idea that this God focuses entirely on a single planet, loves a random species in the evolutionary tree of all life and wrote a book to explain itself. That's just retarded.
@boosie007666 you need to listen to Mr Dawkins' talks about the origins of the universe. Logic dictates the opposite about the beginning of things. Simply put, things get more complex as time goes forward, so if you go back in time you will end up at a singularity, just before the big bang. This is simplifying things a bit, but if you think about it, a fully formed complex powerful omnipotent being existing before anything else ever existed isn't exactly likely or logical, is it. :)
@faction455 A fully formed complex power omnipotent being in our minds would be illogical. But it isn't logical to believe that there is nothing but our universe. That in turn opens up a range of possibilities beyond human understanding, a pretty massive range in which it is perfectly logical for something else to exist. Sadly, Dawkins isn't a physicist and so he is just as qualified to answer the question about the origins of our universe through speculation as I am.
@boosie007666 Perhaps there are other universes. There are scientists who have speculated on this, even. Again, you need to listen to Mr Dawkins talking about the origins of the universe. He doesn't need to be a qualified physicist to be able to discuss what we already know about the origins of the universe, through observation. He is just as qualified as you or I to discuss this - however, he is considerably more well-informed on the subject than you or I.
@boosie007666 You honestly think that because Richard Dawkins doesn't have the official title as a physicist your knowledge and understanding of the origins of the universe are exactly equal to his? You don't think maybe he's delved into it a bit more than you throughout his career? Or do you believe firmly that scientists can't grasp concepts outside of their specific fields, and therefore the average pedestrian has as much validity in their speculation as they do?
@Smoochy44 You're making an assumption that I haven't devoted any of my time to this. I have a degree that covers this field and am a scientist. For my own interest I often branch out of my usual field to study other areas, mainly deeper aspects of biology. Thank you for your snap judgement though.
djredi, there are enough people who believe in god but not religion for that to be a religion. Anything that says something is ultimately so in the universe is at risk of rapidly becoming a religion.
@stuntmanloco I think the only problem with any of this is when one person claims authority over another and this is usually done in the name of religion, not always though. I think people can believe what ever they want . The other issue is children. If I tell my child that if he thinks of a women he'll be attacked by the gargoyle in his closet then that might qualify as abuse.
@stuntmanloco wow thats mature. what a big fat generalization. we don't believe we are superior to you we believe in EVIDENCE which proves such things as evolution that explain the world we live in, and not some fairytale which lacks any shred of evidence and leads to so much violence and war in our world. learn how to form an opinion before you go and generalize like that you sound pathetic.
Spirituality can refer to an ultimate reality or transcendent dimension of the world; an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of his or her being, or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live.” . ...still makes no sense..BTW i loved Atonement it was a very good representation of morality or lack there of.. I wonder if Mcewan envisaged Bridie as being autistic.
@dreaminginnoother It is contradicts to believe in reincarnation and to be an atheist. If your an atheist, you shouldn't believe in reincarnation. There is no evidence or reason to believe so.
I am so glad I watched this.

Perhaps Dawkins should try to forge links with those religious who also yelp that 'Them Mooslims attacked us on 9/11 cos they hate our freedom' . He and his followers have more in common with them (on that) than either likes to admit.
Kanezert 2 months ago
@Kanezert "those religious" (which is an incredibly broad term) are often comprised of people who identify themselves as followers (which is a word you flippantly used to describe the mass of people who are interested in the books of Dawkins) of Christ. They would have just as much reason to disagree with Dawkins then any other follower of Abrahamic religions or any religions for that matter. Your comment makes no sense.
thprfssnl1 1 month ago
@thprfssnl1 So you're denying that Dawkins is as guilty of blaming Islamists for carrying out 9/11 (the main pretext for war in the M.E) as many of those he sees as opponents, particulary on US fundamentalist right? It is either true or it isn't? so which?
kennyznewpal 1 month ago
@kennyznewpal @kennyznewpal who completely ignored my point which is a shame because it was a good one.

@thprfssnl1
His comment indeed makes sense.

TheFajingMove 9 months ago
@TheFajingMove Though interesting, I don't feel your opinion is right. Just because God is a creation of our conscience doesn't mean we are a creation of him.
mitchskater 9 months ago

Queens, NY
freedomland11 9 months ago
@freedomland11 Hi, mate, I don't believe in an individual GOD and so I am not speaking for him because there is no him as such. Words and perspectives are easily misunderstood hence the division of man. Why God. For me this is why. "I exist" and Im sure I didn't put the planets and galaxies there! Im not saying someone else did. From one comes all both in form (Big bang and evolution yes of course) and in consciousness (self observing) and these must be closely related and effect each other (-:
TheFajingMove 9 months ago
@TheFajingMove..Hey, Mate(I love when I hear my english friends say that..also the word brilliant)!! I agree with you in some sort :)...When someone gives there analytical view about the universe..they may mention science or God, but to me I do believe in a higher power but that doesn't mean that it interfered with the world being created. My thinking is since nothing can create something, than there had to be some energy..some force that allowed the occurrence for that life. you get me?
freedomland11 9 months ago
@freedomland11 Hi, bro, yeah I get you. I agree with that too. That force is what I call God I guess and as you said it hasn't a beginning or end. We may work under that fundamental law all the same no matter what I say or believe. .. Since we have "will" then it too probably has a "will", only more fundamental/unified. Yeah I agree nothing can create something in the supernatural divided sense anyway, but life is continuous creation(change) all the time(-: ... Lets make it better than before(-:
TheFajingMove 9 months ago
@TheFajingMove...Not to justify one answer..that god created the beginning..but what if we take into the scientific way. What if between the space in the universe, there was energy that needed to burst atoms and other energy together to let something occur. We have to face the facts, that science is factual, and we cannot just allow ourselves to be close minded and just say "yo, there you go..if you can't find an answer" then god did it... You get me bro?
freedomland11 9 months ago
@freedomland11 Cool, I get that and face the facts of science like you say. I also think though that we can relate that science to our own experience of being. What if you cut something in half and kept doing so could you do that forever? No because in order to be connected by this energy, this energy must be non-divided. Consider this, how can anything operate without it's opposite? 0101 Even universal form or division. Energy is intelligent because we are? Atoms are energy. Cool thanks mate.
TheFajingMove 9 months ago
@freedomland11 : You should look into the latest studies in physics (cosmology) as far as "nothing can create something" - from which it still does not follow then therefore a superior being of some kind must have done it ;-) A few readings from respected scientific publications should do it, or at least give you food for more thought. Honestly, I think you are a non-believer already, but I might be wrong :-))) Cheers.

freedomland11 7 months ago 5
@freedomland11 I don't believe in a higher power, i believe in the infinite energy and matter and the laws of physics and nature. Everything is man made, even "freewill" Stephen Hawking said there's no such thing as free will, because we cannot bend the laws of physics or nature no matter how much we want, we will still get hungry no matter if we want or not, we have to go to the toilet if we want or not. Religion tries to say human is more special than anything, but we are really just animals
ScandinavianEmokid 7 months ago
@ScandinavianEmokid....There is no real way to define "infinite"...Any scientist you ask "if the cosmos is infinite?" they will not give you a "yes" but a questionable theory on what the cosmos(universe) is. Again, you cannot justify A higher power as religion, didn't u read my comment below?? religion is Man-Made, and science is what IS!! I mean, look at the word you used "Higher Power" that in itself is "Science" physics can be different, just like you can float in H2O and not on land!!
NYC!
freedomland11 7 months ago
@freedomland11 Energy can not be created, nor destroyed it can only change form, that is infinite. Science isn't a higher power, science is investigation of questions, testing and retesting. Science is a Latin word and means knowledge. You cannot call it a higher power. Science is also man made...lol, it's just that people that were into science were murdered by religious fanatics earlier
ScandinavianEmokid 7 months ago
@ScandinavianEmokid..Glad you wrote back! Your right, energy cannot be created, but lets withhold our thought of some skygod. There's lots that we don't know, but that doesn't mean that every flagellant claim should be thrown out there. Science is man made. such as the E=mc2. Science is knowledge, and is tested. We cannot test something that we know nothing about. The problem with religion, is that it tries to understand how the universe works, and that I do have a problem with!
Queens, NY!
freedomland11 7 months ago
@freedomland11 i agree, but one thing, religion never tried to find out how the universe works, there are still people today denying there's a universe. If the pope had gone out and said that the universe isn't real, guess who many who would agree? ALOT. That's my problem with religion, all the evil and justified murder and rape and genocide done within the religions. You know what the Muslims pray to in the desert? Mecca? It's a black rock, that landed in the dessert..you probably get my point.
ScandinavianEmokid 7 months ago
@freedomland11 the higher power thing is completely unnecessary. it's such a vague concept, it practically claims nothing, other than that the universe as a whole is very awesome and far beyond our understanding, the only claim it really seems to make is that some sort of consciousness or being created all the matter in the universe. You must see that this is a stupid thing to say, how would this being fabricate the matter, what would it's raw materials be? Why would it do this? etc.
thesearewarningsigns 3 months ago 4

Also, probably one of the more difficult questions to ask:
What being created this being that created the universe? (If you believe that everything needs to have a comprehensive start and end. I can't say I really do).
Mayflyification 4 weeks ago
@freedomland11 i dont mean to sound like a jerk, the so called "belief" in some sort of higher power just seems like a very cowardly way of hedging one's bets on the god question, while trying to appear above religion, but still sensitive to it. There was a time when we didn't understand how the sun rose. God got that too, till scientists proved what was really going on. Religion is too readily used to plug the gaps in our understanding, when in fact its very inclusion raises more questions than it answers.
deviates 10 months ago
@british123able - this conversation was not boring at all but actually very intelligent and very true in regard to how serious people worshipped the deities of ancient Greece as if they were real but now no one prays to them so what makes the other religions more real. And there is no such thing as respect towards another religion if you are religious only secularist have the ability to treat all religions to an equal standing.
ThePublicIsInsane 10 months ago
@ThePublicIsInsane i find it easier to believe in god than believeing "the universe just happened" it just "sprung into existence from nothing- (literally nothing) and thats the leap of faith you take when you say that
british123able 10 months ago
@british123able..I agree with you with that, but you also have to agree that Faith is just a coin toss..."I have faith I'm going to win the lottery" same concept as "I have faith that my friend will get better" its a guess with a beautiful name...The is sooo much energy in space that there isn't such thing as a "NOTHING"....you get me?

I really connected with his statement about a "self-made" religion. When I was a child, I had my own kind of prayer and imagined my dead grandparents were watching me, though I did not care much about jesus or god.

@VincentBrooke1
here's a question to help you redeem yourself if it's not already too late for you: ; Why does the same mass media that peddles 9/11 official account also fervently push aggressive secularists such as Dawkins in particular? Any suggestions?
kennyznewpal 5 months ago
@kennyznewpal Which media specifically, because for example the BBC has had pretty much nothing on either 9/11 or Mr Dawkins in ages and ages. So clarify if you will. Also, Dawkins is about as aggressive as a sedated kitten, you're just over-sensitive I'm afraid...
VincentBrooke1 5 months ago
@VincentBrooke1
Dawkins is a global media pundit.
kennyznewpal 5 months ago
@kennyznewpal You know, I like McEwan for the honesty and originality of his early books, his later aren't so good. I myself am a writer and I admire his early style. As for Dawkins, I like the way he speaks against Islam, not in a general sense, but in the sense of its unfair indoctrination of children, and also how he makes accessible the argument for the environmental subjectivity of religious belief; the easiest to understand and most comprehensive argument against organised religion.
VincentBrooke1 5 months ago
@kennyznewpal I don't really have a great deal of interest in 9/11, truth be told. I'm more interested in anthropomorphism as a literary technique, not only as a character shaping device, but also as a perspective device. Also, the philosophy of Individualism is something I've only just dipped my toes into. I like IDM music too. If you want to talk about that I'd be happy, but I'm afraid I'm a bit wasted on 9/11 and all that jazz...
VincentBrooke1 5 months ago
@kennyznewpal The reason I thought you were a troll was because according to your history you do a lot of these 9/11 kinda things, and the fact that you should pick on me to answer questions I have little interest in is a little trollish. Maybe I'm over-reacting; maybe when you go to work or school you talk to your friends about 9/11 and conspiracies, which is fair enough. I'm just not that interested, sorry. There are lots of other people you can talk to though. Plenty more fish, etc.
VincentBrooke1 5 months ago
@VincentBrooke1 Now looky here, to disagree with somebody on a public forum is hardly tantamount to picking on them, unless it done in abusive fashion of course. All comments are fair game for response. The point being that somebody in the public eye who promotes one of the greatest falsehoods of our time ( used as a pretext for enormous bloodletting and official encroachment on personal space etc) doesn't deserve to held in high regard.
kennyznewpal 5 months ago

You know, judging by that standard of fiction you could do for the Noble Literature prize what Obama did for the peace prize.
kennyznewpal 5 months ago
@kennyznewpal Firstly, it's Nobel; there's nothing noble about Nobel. Secondly, I don't respect the Nobel prize at all, or any other literary prize. McEwan won the Jerusalem Prize (sure you've got something to say about that) a little while back and he took the opportunity, not to talk of his books, but to talk of the conflict and he crticised both Israeli and Palestinian governments. He visited a peace and equality group and donated his prize money to them. That's how evil and biased he is. :P
VincentBrooke1 5 months ago
@VincentBrooke1 your best chance of prize might be for the 'Internet troll who accuses his critics of trolling' award. Since I didn't say much about McEwan -(other than he's wrong about 9/11 and doesn't deserve credit for that) the information is interesting but superfluous . Can imp, lying that you can solely decide what constitutes criticism of the Zionist Entity be as big a thrill as being able to correct somebody's typo online- i mean even better than that much deserved award?
kennyznewpal 5 months ago
@kennyznewpal About the typo; I was making a joke about my opinions of the award. Anyway, I can't be bothered to get into a silly debate about 9/11 with you, but seeing as your channel is now mysteriously 'not available' I'm clearly going to have to put up with more of you trolling, right? I don't mind replying, it only takes about minute, so go ahead, troll away... :P
VincentBrooke1 5 months ago
@VincentBrooke1 You 'reply' but your critics 'troll' . . So 9/11 is 'silly'?. Dawkins is responsible for pushing the official account as he did on this piece which has been used as a false pretext for war and infringement of liberties . No amount of snootiness is going to alter that fact. Neither if you evade the issue while making gross generalizations about skeptics in particular will entitle you to a free ride, get it? it is strange that you act as though it should.
kennyznewpal 5 months ago
@kennyznewpal Yes, you're a typical troll. You've backed me into a corner with your boring arguments about 9/11 whatever... I frankly am not interested, pick on someone else. Or better yet, check out some videos which debunk 9/11 myths, or ones that don't, or whatever. Why come to this video, to me, and ask me the questions which you know I don't have the answers for, and on a topic of which I could not give more of a fuck...?
VincentBrooke1 5 months ago
@VincentBrooke1 except i i didn't pick on you, i made a point about the video and you responded by immediately attacking - that was the course of events that anybody can see. After that was mostly your attempts to justify your actions and then resorting to attacking yet again. If you don't want your views challenged you should be more careful about publishing them in an space where they are fair game. You obviously need to go somewhere you have total control, try your own blog maybe.

@VincentBrooke1 In truth this exchange is boring me I was hoping you'd have signed out posts ago.- you were merely one of many i discuss with at a given time anyhow . kennyznewpal 5 months ago

Do snooty accents work better at spinning propaganda do they think?
Kanezert 4 months ago
@VincentBrooke1

Thankyou for this interview.
goodvideos101 1 year ago 4
McEwan's lucidity is inspiring....I imagine he prepared somewhat for the interview, but most people would have to prepare long and hard to phrase their points with the same eloquence he demonstrates speaking off the cuff. Not all mega-successful writers deserve their success, but he certainly does.

AchillesEightyThree 1 year ago
Athiests are wary of stirring up debate about Islam because they're scared of the reprisals -- namely, a death sentence issued by an indocrinated nut-job who believes he has the authority to act the executioner in God's name. The aggrogance, to think oneself justified in extinguishing another human being's LIFE for speaking his mind in a free and democratic society. This, more than anything else about Islam, sickens me. How can any right and moral religion endorse such evil? Think! Break free!
AchillesEightyThree 1 year ago
"Realist" would be a good word to replace athiest if it didn't already have a more general meaning. It seems appropriate to me, as atheists believe in what they can touch, taste, smell, hear, see and prove using practical, unbiased scientific methods, and it's not as condescending as "bright". I agree with everything you say, Mr Dawkins, but c'mon, "bright" is never gonna fly! You might a well make giving priests and rabbis the middle finger atheism's holy salute while you're at it. lol
AchillesEightyThree 1 year ago
@AchillesEightyThree How about "Reasonist" as in Sam Harris' Project Reason?
SPACON08 1 year ago
I cannot dispute the idea that something beyond us, that we could label as God, may have created the universe. This thing may or may not have interest in this universe, as this universe may be a by-product for something larger or it specifically set the laws in motion for a certain end purpose.
What I can dispute is the idea that this God focuses entirely on a single planet, loves a random species in the evolutionary tree of all life and wrote a book to explain itself. That's just retarded.
boosie007666 1 year ago 2
@boosie007666 you need to listen to Mr Dawkins' talks about the origins of the universe. Logic dictates the opposite about the beginning of things. Simply put, things get more complex as time goes forward, so if you go back in time you will end up at a singularity, just before the big bang. This is simplifying things a bit, but if you think about it, a fully formed complex powerful omnipotent being existing before anything else ever existed isn't exactly likely or logical, is it. :)
faction455 1 year ago
@faction455 A fully formed complex power omnipotent being in our minds would be illogical. But it isn't logical to believe that there is nothing but our universe. That in turn opens up a range of possibilities beyond human understanding, a pretty massive range in which it is perfectly logical for something else to exist. Sadly, Dawkins isn't a physicist and so he is just as qualified to answer the question about the origins of our universe through speculation as I am.
boosie007666 1 year ago
@boosie007666 Perhaps there are other universes. There are scientists who have speculated on this, even. Again, you need to listen to Mr Dawkins talking about the origins of the universe. He doesn't need to be a qualified physicist to be able to discuss what we already know about the origins of the universe, through observation. He is just as qualified as you or I to discuss this - however, he is considerably more well-informed on the subject than you or I.
faction455 1 year ago
@boosie007666 You honestly think that because Richard Dawkins doesn't have the official title as a physicist your knowledge and understanding of the origins of the universe are exactly equal to his? You don't think maybe he's delved into it a bit more than you throughout his career? Or do you believe firmly that scientists can't grasp concepts outside of their specific fields, and therefore the average pedestrian has as much validity in their speculation as they do?
Smoochy44 1 year ago
@Smoochy44 You're making an assumption that I haven't devoted any of my time to this. I have a degree that covers this field and am a scientist. For my own interest I often branch out of my usual field to study other areas, mainly deeper aspects of biology. Thank you for your snap judgement though.

@stuntmanloco I think the only problem with any of this is when one person claims authority over another and this is usually done in the name of religion, not always though.
