@davidls11 I don't understand your logic in you reply to brizeey. How can stimulating your child's brain by teaching them how to read words at a young age not improving their skills? This is no trick!

It is easier to teach your child/ren good habits when they are young rather than trying to break them out of their bad habits when they get older

If these parents stay involved in their babies education and do the best they can with what they have then praise them they a winners!!!

@Da1UdReAmAbOuT I got it for my niece when she was 5 months old. She is now a year old and has been watching it practically everyday since we got it. She is already showing signs of word recognition. You should go for it.

Your child will grow up with a lack of ability to read words and retain them. You are teaching based on memorization and not phonics and that is why.

@macwild1234 That is the concept of kinder. Sight words are just that, words they can recognize by just looking at them. They are drilled into the kids until they are memorized. The phonics doesn't come in until first and second grade. Sight words are a perfect foundation. Some kids I've worked with in first and second grade can't even recognized the word "the" or "me". Any advances a parent can make are a godsend.

30 minutes out of the day is not going to kill anyone or deprive your child of other activities. you can either spend 30 mins playing with blocks on the floor or 30 mins singing and playing with cards together. My mother did it for me and it was just another game, not a forced chore. When i got bored or wanted to play something else we did, simple as that.
