  • My wife and I danced to the Keller Williams version of this song as our first dance as a married couple. I have been looking for this version for a long time. I just want to say thanks for posting it.

  • "Then down fell an angel renegade

    Her halo read "Morning Star"

Wounded by the doom of a comet tail

She was sealed with a scar"

(thanks for sharing such a beautiful song from a very talented man...

    r.i.p. Michael)

  • This gets more amazing with each listen. Michael keeps surprising.

  • He truly was a musical genius...

I grew up with two of his younger sons in Mendocino... both very talented musicians also. Perhaps following in their father's footsteps???

  • wow.... very cool.

    but what happened to him?

I love this song. I wonder what it meant.

  • hmm.. looking at some of the song titles over here on the right .. not too positive. very weird.. kind of like he knew.

  • when I first got turned on to his songs on here, I found out he was dead... why do the good ones go.. must mean my time is near.. lol... but seriously I love this song.

  • no doubt about it.... the guy was a genius.... i am a new musician and his stuff really inspires me. Really sad that he died... still had a life ahead of him.

  • this is one of my favorite songs.... I don't know how he passed... but I thank him for some great music...

  • Michael was killed in an auto accident in '97. His car went off an embankment

  • One other thought: do get his "Torched" CD. He was working on it when he died. An amazing collection from this genius!

  • Thank you for posting this poignant piece by the late and great Micheal Hedges. I think that C, S & N did a wonderful job with it, since he wrote it for them to play. I feel certain he'd be pleased with their results. Their trademark close harmonies and accoustic guitars are perfect.

  • Thank you for the flowers.

  • for all the guitarists, I tried to tab it: verses are like this: On the (Bb) last naked (Am) day of (Gm)winter On the (Bb)eve of a (Am)fauteuil (C)thaw I was (Bb)imprisoned in (Dm)frozen (Am)pieces Of heart-broken (Gm)laws and chorus like this: Then a (Bb)sweet (Am)lichting (Gm)struck And the (Bb)earth (Am)opened (Gm)us Like (Bb)spri(Am)ng (Gm)buds the little intermezzo is: Dm Cm Eb Gm Dm Cm C This is what I make of it, the keller williams version is half a note lower! Love
  • WOW!

    1) Who wrote the song?

    2) Who all is singing the song?

    Thanks for the post.

  • 1) Michael Hedges

    2) Hedges, Crosby and Nash

    Thank you for your comment!

  • WOW again!

    What a treasure!

What a joy to hear this for the first time.

    Thanks again.

  • My god....how wonderful to find this....mmmhhhmmm.

  • Thanks for the post!

Loved Michael from the first time I heard him...

Do you know if there is any footage of the three of them ever playing this live somewhere?

    That would be a gem!

  • I know that the recording of this song was finished by Crosby and Nash after the death of Michael. I don't know if they play it in some live concert.
