  • The worst thing that happened to us is the abolishing of our the Igbo cultures and all this new stupid Nigerian movies. We ought to teach the children of today the evil the white man did to our precious culture.

  • learning imperialism in humanities

  • I've been reading the book. So far, the book is boring as this movie :P

  • Some of these Assholes are ignorant. I can't believe the things some people are saying, obviously they dont understand the culture and ways of others and dont want to take the time to try. I thought this and the book were amazing.

  • the movie is as bad as the book

  • I wish I knew about this a month ago

  • Anybody else watching this to not read the book for an assignment?

  • Thumbs up if u think that these scenes should have English-subtitle

    I don't understand a crumb! :O

  • Aw, what the fuck!? This ain't 50 cent.

  • oh gosh i couldnt even watch this it was soo boring

  • @321reball

Idiot!!!!! You call an international award winning book stupid!!!!! How ignorant of you.

  • @321reball the book is not stupid. your acctually being disrespectful to another culture.

  • @TiannaEwing No offense, but Chinua Achebe is a crappy author. Conrad was a much better author all around.

  • @HangetsuHozuki :) well i read i book by Conrad. I still love Chinua Achebe

  • What a nice video

  • it would be much better if it was with subtitle !!

we are studying this novel as a novel subject in Saudi Arabia

    thank you all

  • awesome. thanks for posting

  • This classic needs to be digitally remastered in High definition to save it for the future generations

  • thumbs up if you have to do an assignment on this...

  • its so hard to watch... might as well read the book in this time....

  • thank you for putting dis up......

  • wow, pete edochie classic, its been years

  • omg i have been looking for this movie all my life

  • Where's the 720p option?.....haha

  • 50 should get an oscar for this... haha

  • Music is the best food for a good spirit!

ps: how come 22 ignorant people came across this video? they wouldn't understand Chinua Achebe's work if it would hit them in the head!

  • I cant get jiggy to this shit

  • HORRIBLE.

  • we know about this scene that Okonkwo is a hard working man and he is not like his father Unoka, lazy .

  • i imagines him bigger with a six pack and a harder face

  • only few people will know about this...#retrospective drama. i REALLY APPRECIATE WHOEVER DOWNLOADED THIS DRAMA. IT'S OVER 16 YEARS I WATCHED IT LAST.

  • @RisaME31 you're just ignorant, and probably stupid if you think the book didn't make sense (not scence). take this as a lesson; don't read books or watch videos about books that are beyond you're mental capacity.. they often lead you to making idiotic comments on YouTube.

  • What the hell is this? O.o

  • I thought this shit would be helpful tf!!!!

  • I didn't recognize this scene until I realized that they were putting the flashback to Okonkwo's dad's life first.

  • @RisaME31 The book did make sense!

  • Una dey mad! All of una wey dislike this DRAMA. U must all be sick. U people wey no get culture or even history. Its not meant for you.!diots !

  • ADDED TO FAVORITE! I UNDERSTAND THAT FOR MANY ON THIS CHAT THIS IS IN NO WAY APPEALING BUT I UNDERSTAND AND TAKE NO OFFENSE AT YOUR IGNORANCE. FOR ME IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES AND FORMS A PIECE OF WHAT I CALL HOME OR MY CULTURE AND HISTORY. NOTHING STAYS THE SAME, THAT IF NOTHING ELSE IS ONETHING I AM ABSOLUTE SURE OF. AND ONE DAY, IN OUR TOMMORROW WHEN WE GET THERE WE WOULD BE SO GLAD THAT WE PROTECT THIS PIECES OF OUR HISTORY. LOVE NDIIGBO, NIGERIA FOREVER!

  • the fuck?

  • Black slaves everywhere

  • what a waste of time! fuck!

  • what tha fuck is that ?

    !

  • hahahaha :P get out a here

  • some comments here are so un-educated. this is africa scene before hd and knowledge of filming tech and ability. when did colored tv got to western world. Hollywood is too fake and heroless that why the characters in their movies you can not say they are true heros because they have nothing you can relate too. what is superman or batman?

  • @kuroyoroki Godbless u, tell them. i wonder if they were expecting to see people jumping from sky scrappers.

  • The set honestly looks exactly like I imagined it when I was reading the book. How strange.

  • Thumbs up if you thought this was 50 Cent's movie scene

  • @wildcat2k6 No i did not lolll I knew this wen i was a kid.

  • i remember watching this in nigeria in the 80's.

  • love that flute guy who needs to work when you can be smooth lol

  • budi ca budi ca budi caaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Common folks this movie was shot in the 80's I believe by African. At the time I'm sure the technology for better video quality wasn't available to them. The cinematography is even better than the current Nollywood movies. I loved "Things Fall Apart" back in the 90's; all 6 parts. Classic Nigerian movie i must add.

  • wtf is this

  • damn, shuld have read the book

  • where's 50 ?

  • fuck off dont have time to waste

  • I came here reasearching for a book I have to read for HS and I find this.....Wtf

  • they should remake this movie :)

  • shit quality.... damn it!

  • 50 cent ???

  • Ok, Spike Lee, why don't you do the Malcom X to Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart", come on you can't let Tyler Perry steel all the thunder although I love ya both dearly!

  • this movie is gonna save my exam mark thank god ! <3 even thu it looks like turkey shit

  • :D

  • Is 50 Cent playing in this movie?

  • @eytyxios94 hell no

  • @116gaara Oh! I heard he is playing in a movie with the same name!

  • @eytyxios94 no he's playing a football player with cancer, in my opinion they should change the name

  • This was made in the early 80s,and it was quite a hit when it came out,I remember watching it for weeks, well they only had one new episode a week.thanks for posting.

  • i thought the book was boring. WTF

  • i pictured mustafa from old spice as okonkwo lol

  • 12 people are heathens.

  • I like the novel better. I also imagined okwonkwo to be different.

  • This opening song goes hard....

  • where is fifty????

  • @DimisWargame Wrong "Things Fall Apart," my friend. That's another movie, lol.

  • Lol. This novel deserves better.

  • where can I but this DVD...?

  • when was the video made and where can i get the full movie

  • Pete Edochie!!!

  • One of those wrestling dudes look like one of my friends from summer camp..... -.-

  • aww man, i imagined okonkwo to be hotter and actually good looking

  • @birouteo BAHAHAHA!

  • @birouteo where expecting him to look like brad pit? well am sure the women in his culture think he is very attractive.

  • @birouteo That is why reading a book is always better coz you can make out your own character with your imagination even make out a street and the houses. The things you read about and imagine can't disappoint you. I always thought he would be ugly like a WWF wrestler, you know like kamala or yokozuna..lol

  • @birouteo Yeah! Like James Bond...or Jason Bourne. I bet you imagined him also rocking a rolex and rolling round them villages with swagger, no? To hell with your baseless preconceptions, his name's Pete Edochie (check his wiki), a giant of Nigerian cinema and he's pretty good-looking; shame you think otherwise.

Maybe the drama could have been done in Igbo and translated just to make it realer. Afterall, the book & play has been translated into many different languages for the local people.

  • @birouteo in the book itself it says 'He was tall and huge, and his bushy eyebrows and wide nose gave him a severe look.'. He is correctly represented in the video I think. Moreover, it is not a question of beautification.

  • They should make a remake with Djimon Hounsou as Okonkwo

  • @iinsanebaby i agreeeee.

  • @iinsanebaby i disagree. why djimon hounsou? there are nigerian actors who can play the part well and are internationally acclaimed actors just like him. I am a nigerian so i prefer to see a nigerian do this part.

  • Im definately washing this for a school assignment!

  • @Coraboo23 me too. you go to rcc? lol

  • I can't understand what they're saying. I wish I could. :(

  • I thought this was 50 cent's shit, Bullshit Nigerians.

  • @BlackPride1000 watcha mean bull@#$ nigerians? i can't even type such vulgarisms. this is a clip of a legendary series based on a classic nigerian novel, of which 50 cent's movie bears the same name by coincidence. so what?

  • @BlackPride1000 lol nigerians happen to be black.your statement is really contradicting the meaning of your name, dumbass.

  • how many people clicked on it thinkin it was the 50 cent movie

  • @rowin09 I did :P

  • @Yapiej me too lol

  • things fall apart and never be the same again. i like to see we the Nigeria defend one another and save one another, and things will never be the same but better and better all over the world. coss the Nigeria name is being dislike by the other nations all over the world especialy the White. it is soo painfully to me when i heard that the nigeria coach who has been with the club from the begining of the world being taking away over a White man. i was sad and not happy and they failed.

  • where can I watch the Trailer to his movie ?

  • i am almost done reading the book. wow, our custom harsh and unreasonable.

  • @MsChidinma I hate Okonkwo. I can barely get through the book. I'm fine with Chinua Achebe accurately describing African, or rather, Nigerian culture at that time, but Okonkwo is just an unreasonable douchebag.

  • I loved the book. The book was great! I didn't even know that there was a film depicon of it. I typed in "Things Fall Apart" regarding the movie that 50 cent would be doing, based on a football player who was diagnosed with cancer. Then this comes up. Great! I can now note the differences and similarities between this film and the book. Bravo!

  • Why are they speaking in English :S

  • @PERSONIFICATIONOFYAY what da fuck do u mean by asking that question

  • @chichi23ful No need to swear son - I was merely wondering why they would speak English considering the context of the story.

  • @PERSONIFICATIONOFYAY This movie is based on a novel and if u read the novel it was written in English.

  • @PERSONIFICATIONOFYAY Can you speak or read igbo?.......thats why it was written in English

  • yams mean sweet potato

  • @butterflyreem. no! not sweet potato more like a white potato with no flavor thats why they are soaked in palm-oil and drinked with palm-wine

  • The Fifty Cent film is nothing to do with this and in the novel it is cowries that are used as currency. Anybody taking a test on the book, I would recommend the Cliff's Notes to you.

Regards, a secondary English Teacher with too much free time.
