The worst thing that happened to us is the abolishing of our the Igbo cultures and all this new stupid Nigerian movies. We ought to teach the children of today the evil the white man did to our precious culture.
Some of these Assholes are ignorant. I can't believe the things some people are saying, obviously they dont understand the culture and ways of others and dont want to take the time to try. I thought this and the book were amazing.
@RisaME31 you're just ignorant, and probably stupid if you think the book didn't make sense (not scence). take this as a lesson; don't read books or watch videos about books that are beyond you're mental capacity.. they often lead you to making idiotic comments on YouTube.
ADDED TO FAVORITE! I UNDERSTAND THAT FOR MANY ON THIS CHAT THIS IS IN NO WAY APPEALING BUT I UNDERSTAND AND TAKE NO OFFENSE AT YOUR IGNORANCE. FOR ME IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES AND FORMS A PIECE OF WHAT I CALL HOME OR MY CULTURE AND HISTORY. NOTHING STAYS THE SAME, THAT IF NOTHING ELSE IS ONETHING I AM ABSOLUTE SURE OF. AND ONE DAY, IN OUR TOMMORROW WHEN WE GET THERE WE WOULD BE SO GLAD THAT WE PROTECT THIS PIECES OF OUR HISTORY. LOVE NDIIGBO, NIGERIA FOREVER!
some comments here are so un-educated. this is africa scene before hd and knowledge of filming tech and ability. when did colored tv got to western world. Hollywood is too fake and heroless that why the characters in their movies you can not say they are true heros because they have nothing you can relate too. what is superman or batman?
Common folks this movie was shot in the 80's I believe by African. At the time I'm sure the technology for better video quality wasn't available to them. The cinematography is even better than the current Nollywood movies. I loved "Things Fall Apart" back in the 90's; all 6 parts. Classic Nigerian movie i must add.
Ok, Spike Lee, why don't you do the Malcom X to Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart", come on you can't let Tyler Perry steel all the thunder although I love ya both dearly!
This was made in the early 80s,and it was quite a hit when it came out,I remember watching it for weeks, well they only had one new episode a week.thanks for posting.
@birouteo That is why reading a book is always better coz you can make out your own character with your imagination even make out a street and the houses. The things you read about and imagine can't disappoint you. I always thought he would be ugly like a WWF wrestler, you know like kamala or yokozuna..lol
@birouteo Yeah! Like James Bond...or Jason Bourne. I bet you imagined him also rocking a rolex and rolling round them villages with swagger, no? To hell with your baseless preconceptions, his name's Pete Edochie (check his wiki), a giant of Nigerian cinema and he's pretty good-looking; shame you think otherwise.
Maybe the drama could have been done in Igbo and translated just to make it realer. Afterall, the book & play has been translated into many different languages for the local people.
@birouteo in the book itself it says 'He was tall and huge, and his bushy eyebrows and wide nose gave him a severe look.'. He is correctly represented in the video I think. Moreover, it is not a question of beautification.
@iinsanebaby i disagree. why djimon hounsou? there are nigerian actors who can play the part well and are internationally acclaimed actors just like him. I am a nigerian so i prefer to see a nigerian do this part.
@BlackPride1000 watcha mean bull@#$ nigerians? i can't even type such vulgarisms. this is a clip of a legendary series based on a classic nigerian novel, of which 50 cent's movie bears the same name by coincidence. so what?
one of the greatest books ever written....I iv'e read the book and it's awesome....anyone reading this comment...PLEASE READ THINGS FALL APART BY CHINUA ACHEBE
things fall apart and never be the same again. i like to see we the Nigeria defend one another and save one another, and things will never be the same but better and better all over the world. coss the Nigeria name is being dislike by the other nations all over the world especialy the White. it is soo painfully to me when i heard that the nigeria coach who has been with the club from the begining of the world being taking away over a White man. i was sad and not happy and they failed.
OMG.. my mother told me about this movie am soo glad i have the chance to watch it .. one of pete's first movies.. he has always had it in him .. i love you tube and whoever posted the mediafrictv i guess.. :)
@MsChidinma I hate Okonkwo. I can barely get through the book. I'm fine with Chinua Achebe accurately describing African, or rather, Nigerian culture at that time, but Okonkwo is just an unreasonable douchebag.

I loved the book. The book was great! I didn't even know that there was a film depicon of it. I typed in "Things Fall Apart" regarding the movie that 50 cent would be doing, based on a football player who was diagnosed with cancer. Then this comes up. Great! I can now note the differences and similarities between this film and the book. Bravo!
I never appreciated Africa until i left her....i was such a fool! Her beauty and wonder calls to me every single day and more than any thing, i want to go back. BTW, her cuisine is totally awesome!!
