I'd recommend doing a google search to read as much about them as you can before you actually get one, they are fantastic animals but they have specific needs and you really have to know all about them to take care of them properly, like knowing their vitamin needs, housing needs, medical requirements.. I'm sure I could explain it all but it would take forever, so I think you'd be better off just reading all those pages that are already out there that are dedicated to guinea pig care! Good luck!

Timothy hay, Lettuce, pellets you can buy, but avoid getting other seed like sunflowers mixed in with them because they can choke, apples. Google for more info. Don't ever feed them meat.

i don't think that guinea pigs mined that much. I mean there are thousands of guinea pigs eating videos, but its not like there all on 1 guinea pig. i don't think guinea pigs mind being video taped every now and then.

Why do you put fleece in the cages, if they're just going to make a mess & potty on it? O.o

That's the point, the fleece keeps the cage dry. If you put newspaper underneath, the moisture goes through and the pig isn't sitting in pee all day. I clean my cages every day so it's not a big deal, but some people use wood chips or other stuff so they don't have to clean it everyday.

It's not a shirt. I put fleece in their cages so it absorbs their pee, and that's what he's eating on. Even if they do poo on something, all you have to do is pick it up. I hope you meant to say 'on' a plastic bag... Anyway he poos less when I have him out than he does in his cage.

well, in that case, you guinea pig is very well trained. Mine poops everywhere without any control. THat's why I blow into a clear plastic bag while he is in there and tie it so the poop and pee doesn't come out. It accually works!! Though the pig tends to get very smelly....

Is it really safe to leave a guinea pig in a bag? What about when they chew on it? And my pigs don't pee much out of their cages, but if they do it's not really a big deal. You just clean it up. I'd rather clean up a little pee and let them have room to run around than keep them in a bag anyway.

I put my guinea pig in a plastic bag and after I blow in it to poof it up, I put the pig in there then tie the bag so it's like a ball. WHen he moves forward, the bag goes forward too. When they poop or pee, the stuff stays in there with him. He has once bit the bag before, but he doesn't like to because the pee and poop is everywhere.

They don't chew on the bags becuase it probably tastes bad. I just leave my guinea pigs in there lopng enought for me to clean his mess inside the cage.
