  • Kindle 4 for me I travel a lot I'm 14 and I have to buy it myself and are adds bad?

  • nook color

  • when r u getting a kindle dx

  • where do you get your password from? I have been having a devil of a time getting this thing to work.

  • @1034martin You log in using your Amazon account, that's the password you use. Now if you're logging into your wireless network, you'll need to know the password to your wireless access point.

  • Does it have colour?

  • @HypnosKilla No, this is grayscale e-ink only. The Kindle Fire is a a color LCD tablet.

  • is the screen scratched easily??

  • @ktiame No, it's quite durable.

  • does it supports hebrew fonts ?

  • @danny2dolce The Kindle only supports languages that use the Latin alphabet.

  • @DetroitBORG NOOK TABLET IS BETTER THAN KINDLE FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey is it really worth buying a kindle......are the books cheaper??

  • @harittube The idea of the kindle is more 'carry books everywhere' as opposed to 'cheap books'. That said, the ebooks on amazon are generally cheaper than the paperbacks.

  • @harittube cheaper than paper, yes.

  • thx i am thinking about geting this

  • Amazingly vivid demonstration...... very very help ful........Thanx a lot for uploading...looking forward for more..............

  • @AYANROCKS1 Excellent feedback, thank you!

  • I've charge my touch for almost 3 hours and it still doesn't turn on, help!

  • I wish I had disposable income

  • thats only wifi or also cames with 3g ?

  • @DJjeffer92 The Kindle Touch is available in WiFi or WiFi+3G. The version I'm testing here is WiFi only.

  • Thanks man. You convinced me to buy one ! And everyone else, i made a video my name is crazedllama365! Please watch

  • Thanks!

  • What do you suggest: a)Leave it in Sleep mode or b)Turn the kindle off. What´s best for the battery? Thanx

  • @tomnikond600 i believe it is essentially the same thing due to the nature of the e-ink. but definitely turn off the wifi and/or 3g for the best battery life.

  • @tomnikond600 I find that WiFi will drain the battery even if it's in sleep mode, so power it down completely when you're not using it, or turn off WiFi/3G.

  • @octilichious the whole point of the E ink display is that it doesn't have a backlight. It's supposed to be just like reading a book and it doesn't hurt your eyes if you read it for a hour or so. Having a backlight would defeat the purpose of the E ink display and would make your eyes tired no matter the display

  • @octilichious No Kindles have backlights. E-Ink readers need some external light source.

  • excellent review man, thanks

  • @rawadom Thank You!

  • good review! bdw can you listen to the radio on this?

  • @juvedbest1897, no, you can't listen to the radio on a Kindle. A Kindle is for people who just want to read books, nothing more and nothing less. If you want an e-reader with some fancy features, then I think the iPad 2 is more up your street!

  • @juvedbest1897 No, there is no terrestrial radio or online radio apps.

  • @DetroitBORG ok tks :) I got the Kindle 3 tks to your review and I love it. tks for all your help and dedication to these reviews

  • good review video, thanks

  • Hey kindle users check out this great new ebook Shadows of the Jungle

you can look for it on google

  • the fire is the newest kindle right

  • Comment removed

  • I personally think that the kindle keyboard is the way to go if you ask me if they make a new one with the same features like the kindle keypad where the screen doesn't have to refresh until every 6th page, it will be by far the best

  • thanks very much!!! i'll take your advice and buy a kindle touch.

  • when i use the mp3 on my kindle touch and it plays through the speakers even when i plug in my headphones

  • what's the mic for?

  • @TheSlipKnot981 it does not have a microphone--I believe you're referring to the headphone jack or the speakers. The headphone jack is for listening to mp3 files, audio books, or the text-to-speach feature. The speakers can be used for the same features as the headphones when you don't have or don't want to use headphones.

  • @nero314100 I know exactly what i am talking about. Watch th video, when he goes over the ports, he will say, the micro-usb, the microphone, the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the LED light.

  • @TheSlipKnot981 And I know exactly what I'm talking about as I have this. There is no microphone on the device or LED light. If you have the leather cover for the kindle with a light then you would have an LED light, but there is no LED on the kindle its self.

  • @nero314100 when you unlock or lock your device, a green led light on the bottom of the kindle flashes. The led is there for sure. Watch the video, and he will explain that there is a microphone on the bottom.

  • @nero314100 The port next to the power switch is an LED charging indicator, the port next to the micro usb is an inactive microphone. The 3.5mm headphone jacks in the center. The Kindle Keyboard also has an inactive microphone.

  • @TheSlipKnot981 I watched the video again and he does say microphone, but it is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, not a microphone.

  • @nero314100 he says both the 3.5 mm headphone jack, AND he points out the microphone, therefore he could not have confused the two.

  • @nero314100 The Kindle Touch has an inactive mic, as does the 3rd generation Kindle Keyboard.

  • @TheSlipKnot981 As far as I'm aware, the mic has not been enabled. On the Nook, it's used for voice annotations.

  • does it have any "bookmark" options?

  • @WOLPHIEchan, The Kindle automatically saves your page when you turn it off. And when you turn it back on, it resumes the page you were on before. Also, if you leave your Kindle lying on it automatically switches itself off to save battery power.

  • @pianoflutelover18 watching youtube from these devices wouldn't make any sense; e-ink displays are very slow to refresh, not to mention everything would be in black and white. it would not be practical at all.

  • @pianoflutelover18 - no you can't and even if it did work, your stuck with an e-ink screen that has slow refresh rates. It would just wouldn't work properly. They struggle with a little bit of animation on websites and the whole screen has to refresh every second.

  • I just got mine today and its awesome

    im very pleased

  • I getting the original kindle on friday can't wait

  • Your the best reviewer! You answered everything i wanted to know :D

  • Great review. thank you. One question, can I turn off the 3G? It seems to have difficulty connecting to my home WiFi and reverts to the 3G.

  • Very helpful! Do you know when the kindle touch will be made available in the UK?

  • @MissWatson4eva i live in canada and also can't get the touch through amazon. However, I was looking on ebay and found a really great seller, with a lot of brand new kindles touches. I just bought one and it should be here in a few days. Its the first thing that comes up when searching "Kindle Touch".

  • @JillBiebs Any idea if it might be released in the UK/Other countries beside US? I ordered one on ebay too however, mine will not be arriving for some time unforturnately. A pretty good deal though - has your Kindle Touch arrived? How is it working in Canada?

  • Extremely clear and helpful!!

  • its funny how he has all the kindles but really only uses one so what does he do with the rest

  • Wow thanks very much! This is the best kindle review I have ever watched. You made my decision to buy the touch edition.

  • @DetroitBORG does the regular kindle have that x-ray feature like the kindle touch has?

  • Do you think that there will eventually be software that would show the web in landscape? Portrait is too narrow and it is frustrating when you try to read your e-mails or browse the net.

  • if we tap that...lol

  • if tap that...lol

  • i prefer the kindle 4 so easy to use and carry around <3

  • Please Help! I need to decide weather to get the Nook Simple Touch, Kindle ($79) or Kindle Touch??? Please help AY-SAP!

  • @HollisterSupporter kindle touch

  • Would you recommend the kindle touch for reading research papers? They are usually in PDF format that needs to be converted to be used on kindle.

  • ANother excellent review. Thank you very much.

  • Can you get kid books on this, because my kid want's to read dairy of wimpy kid?Can you do that?please write back.

  • @famdegreer i think you can

  • is it big or small>

  • does this have the twitter integration like the basic?

  • Why do you prefer the B&N nook simple touch? I have wanted this kindle for quite a while, but I want to know why I should get a nook instead.

  • @emilicious356 expandable storage, and you can side load books from your computer, which you can't on the kindle

  • @techdude6693

You certainly CAN side-load even non-Amazon books from the computer to the Kindle. Furthermore, you can DOWNLOAD them from websites, direct to the Kindle. The Nook has no web browser so that isn't possible with the Nook.

  • @anieb actually, the nook does have a web browser. type a URL in the search field and it opens it up in a browser. BTW, a web browser is pretty stupid on a an e-ink display. The nook touch is better, because its better at being an e-reader. That's what more important than having extras. Also what you fail to mention is that the Kindle touch at $99 has Ads. and to get one without ads you pay $139, whereas the the nook has no ads no matter what.

  • @techdude6693, The browser was hidden and omitted in B&N's specs because it was a built-in Android feature that needed customization to work right. Googling got no results or a crash. With the latest update, they CLOSED the 'backdoor' to the non-functioning web browser. The Kindle Touch web browser is effective enough now that Amazon won't be paying anymore for free 3G web browsing forTouch models. if you're cooking or driv'g you can use text to speech on the Kindle.

  • @techdude6693 The Nook devotes the bottom half to ADs in recommending books you don't have, which is to sell you books you might not even want to see on your Home screen. The AdsKindle includes about 50% general discount offers at Amazon, such as 50% off items large or small, books & household goods. Local too. Some like it, tho' I don't generally like ads. So, after this last Nook update, re-try that Search field you mentioned, Your reviews are presented very well otherwise.

  • @anieb Recommended reading is not the same as a blatant ad thrown at the bottom. Its tailored to what you've gotten before. Not to mention you wrote 3 long comments over the web browser. Have you actually owned a Nook Simple Touch?? I replaced my Kindle 3 with one and I like it so much better. That said though, I still prefer my Kindle Fire to the NookTablet

  • @techdude6693 I should add that the new Kindle Touch web browser (quite fast for text lookups and w/ text-article views in readable mode) is still available via WiFi -- and Wiikipedia is always available for free via no-charge 3G, globally.

  • do you want to know something cool if you go to your amazon account to manage your kindle and you bought the one without ads you can turn on and off ads for that kindle for free

  • can books still be side loaded on the kindle touch?

  • @LivingDeadBeat99 Yes, you can still sideload even non-Amazon books (true for 4 years) on any Kindle. Best you can use WiFi and download them direct to the Kindle through its web browser. PDFs can be too large so those have to be done via computer and emailed to your Kindle. Word docs are converted by Amazon at no charge to send to your Kindle and they sync them on devices and back up your notes if you want.

  • Nice Review! But i don't agree with you. I have a Kindle 3 with Keyboard and a K4 Touch, and i prefer the K-Keyboard. For me, The D-Pad, The Next-Previous Page Buttons and The Keyboard provides a good experience with the gadget! More than the touchscreen interface that provide the K4 (And the extreme slowness)

  • one question i dont know how to delete books... so i hold the title of the book and the screen pops up but there is no delete button except the archive? help anyone?

  • I have the kindle keyboard and i love it!!

  • @lukeloo1994 It really boils down to whether or not you want a touch screen. If the answer is yes,get the Touch. If no,then get the Basic Kindle and save a few bucks!

  • Did you get your case? Could you possibly show us what it looks like and everything? Please??

  • The battery does not last for two months. Amazon calculates battery life by reading 30 MINUTES per day for two months. That's 28 hours of actual reading. Now, when we read, we read for more than 30 minutes...

  • @Sumfera What you say is true. Amazon calculated for 1 hour per day, for the last 3-1/2 yrs but B&N changed the calculation to use only 30 minutes per day for its comparison sheets, so Amazon adjusted theirs to make a comparison using the same time basis. The whole thing is silly since few read for only 30 minutes a day.

  • what password do you have to put in?

  • Love your review! I thought it was very in depth and helpful. I know you said in the video you would prefer the touch over the other kindles but in one of your comments I saw you said to just stick with the basic kindle. Between the Kindle touch and the $79 kindle, which do you prefer?

  • What happens to all the electronics you get? I keep imagining your place littered with expensive stuff. :P

  • @Vivian5694 You'd be surprised how little space this stuff takes up if you keep organized. I eventually sell off gadgets as they get older and unused.

  • I refuse to buy an ereader until they make one that smells like a book.

  • @jjjjjokerface LOL, I'm not one of those people ;)

  • Enough with Steve Jobs already.

  • Ugh... Twilight...

  • R.I.P Steve Jobs. He has changed our lives.

  • Do you find that the Kindle Touch has the "flash" refresh screen or is it fast like the Nook Touch?

  • @Tuckle The Nook Touch is significantly faster, I should have done a comparison video...I may yet do one.

  • Hi,

Which kindle should I get just for the reading purpose and dictionary sometimes between the Kindle touch, the Kindle 4, and the Kindle keyboard ? I tend to read 4-5 hours a day.

    Thanks

  • @2425tu If you like entering text for the dictionary function, I'd recommend the Kindle Touch or Keyboard. My preference overall would be for the Kindle Touch however.

  • I heard you mentioned in the video that the txt to speech function only works on authorized books. Will it work on those free classics or pdf, txt that I put into the kindle touch? Thx Mine is still on the way.

  • @jzarkcn Yes, personal docs can be read by the Kindle voices. They are programmed oddly in that they don't tend to stop at sentences or chapter endings! But they can surprise with decent stretches. Not my favorite mode of hearing a book but useful sometimes.

  • @MissWakalaka OHHHHHH sorry! My YouTube thing didn't tell me you did that other comment with the whole,"ahem ahem ahem" thing! My bad! Now the world can continue turning round, everything makes sense!

  • @EasternPancakes77 Thanks a lot for helping! I agree with you that the Kindle Keyboard would be a good choice. I bought a Nook Simple Touch and tested it out. But that was a while ago, and I just returned it to the store and said that there was a problem with it and I got a Kindle Keyboard for good. Back Then, I've never heard of a Kindle 4 coming out, So, after 2 days of having the Kindle Keyboard, I emmidiately returned to BestBuy and got a full refund. So I'm gonna take the Kindle Keyboard :)

  • I'm not sure weather to get the Nook Simple Touch, Kindle Touch or Kindle Keyboard 3G... Please Help!

  • @HollisterSupporter Maybe the Kindle Keyboard 3g would be a good choice. I'm getting the Touch because I like touch screens, and I REALLY don't like the nook. The Nook Simple Touch doesn't have anything fancy (like web browser, cool features, etc.) it's just an E-Reader. The Kindle Touch doesn't have THE most responsive screen out there, but hey! It's an E-Reader,not an iPad. In my opinion,it boils down to whether or not you would like a Touch screen.

  • this 1 sucks

  • Does it has any problem about accidental page turn? I am waiting the answer. Thanks

  • @BeBeBaBaBuBaeBoo I know I'm 3 months late, but I have had less accidental page turns with this one than Kindles with the side-mounted buttons.

  • what do u do with all the ipods, tablets and computers do you get?

    u use all of them?

u buy them or the companies send to u to make reviews??

  • I wish the Kindle Touch had the look and feel of the Kindle Keyboard and Fire. I like the soft touch backing because it feels nice and is more resistant to scratches.

  • @DigitalFreedoms The new Kindles also have a nice tactile feel to the back plate, and they are lighter so I still recommend this over the keyboard.

  • The very first "snippet" that is shown when you select a character in the X-ray feature is a Wikipedia-type article.

    An otherwise great review!

  • the nook simple touch is a lot smoother than this. also, if you get it refurbished from the BN website, it's only $70, with no ads. I'll admit, I think this looks better, but the simple touch wins at everything else.

  • @TheSlipKnot981 Have to agree on all those points.

  • Вчера получил свой Kindle. Идеальный девайс для чтения и проверки е-почты.

  • I would laugh if a Kindle got Nook advertisements xD

  • @kayspace1 Ha, they don't even sell the Nook on Amazon ;)

  • @DetroitBORG

Actually, Amazon sells the NookColor and e-Ink nooks on their site. Have for quite a while and I have links to them on my webpage for about 1.5 years.

  • just me that hate this flashing when entering in menus or getting out of them? better get the fire instead..

  • @pnetwork12 That's typical of e-ink.

  • My package was "lost" days ago but it looks like it may have turned up and is being delivered tomorrow. I certainly hope so...

  • I just got my kindle touch and I absolutely love it, kindle all the way!

  • Is there a possibility that the screen would be prone to a lot of fingerprint marks on it?

  • Amazing video!

  • Is it possible to reconfigure the page-turning zones?

  • @jeremyisweary Not that I'm aware of.

  • You could've just tried m.cnn.com. How do mobile site look on the Kindle?

  • do you reccomend the kindle touch?

  • @musicfan1ful Not really, the Nook Simple Touch is better, but for Kindle I would just stick with the basic Kindle because it's so lightweight.

  • @DetroitBORG why do you like nook better? is it faster? also, if you could comment on the speed of writting notes to the text id really appreciate it, im buying one of those and for me thats my main concern. thanks! great review by the way

  • Nook simple touch v kindle touch differences please?

  • @themApples14 That will be in a future video.

  • is your password detroitborg?

  • @capnbly7 Ha, nope!

  • This video would probably be half as long if the touch screen responsiveness wasn't so slow!

  • Hi cool review, but what about PDF that is a huge deal for me, how does it handle the adobe format? please tell us.

  • @muertomaniaco i know you weren't asking me, but thought i'd provide my input. i have a kindle dx, so not sure about this particular model. anyway, you can email documents, including pdfs, to your kindle device. if you put "convert" in the subject line of the email, amazon will convert it into the kindle format. like you, i work with a LOT of documents (usually Word documents and pdfs), so this was a big deal for me also. i've got hundreds of documents i've emailed to my kindle

  • And how about turning page speed? Is it faster and smoother than kindle keyboard? I'm considering a new one. Thank for good video

  • It's not very fast :-/

  • why isnt it availible in UK!!! HURRY UP AMAZON TO GET IT TO THE UK SITE!!

  • Can you do review on how pdfs work on the device. Some people are saying the kindle touch is not able to go into landscape view for pdfs

  • @cbcboy77 People are right that the Kindle Touch does not do landscape currently (customer reps have said they're working on it but that can take forever). However, a nice Android feature is that you can pinch-zoom them or double-tap to get larger fonts while expanding the text-body to fit the width of the screen.

  • I got my nook tablet two days ago, so sweet! I am not liking anything from Kindle at all...

  • @MissWakalaka Ahem ahem ahem! Then WHY would you be watching a vid about KINDLE PRODUCTS?!?!?!

  • @EasternPancakes77 LOL what kind of question is this? I am subscribed to DetriotBorg so obviously I want to watch his videos and give him my own feedback. AHEM AHEM AHEM!

  • @EasternPancakes77 Lol whoops misspelled his username XD

  • @MissWakalaka Who's username? What on earth are you talking about?!?

  • No UK release of this device!

Britons are really getting a raw deal of e-book readers at the moments: no Nook, limited Kindle range and Sony being absolutely crap... great

  • awesome Detroit thanks :) cant wait for mine now

  • @DetroitBORG Must the screen flash?
