I'm glad my money could create a cool car (built in Finland) for hollywood liberal loons like Leonardo Dicaprio. Tell us Fisker - did you pay Al Gore a consulting fee too?
IMAO , this car is the perfect one, it has 4 doors, it is a sedan, a sport car, electric powered, gasoline powered and ... looks 10 times better compared to any other beautiful car. It's the best !
403 hp and 900 lb.-ft. of torque with a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds. That's fucking piss poor.
The Porsche Panamera weighs a pound more, has only 400 hp with 369 lb.-ft of torque, and makes it to 60 in only 5.2 seconds.
And don't bull shit about the better mileage, I'm talking about power. With 400 horses, and 900 foot pounds cranked in an aerodynamic vehicle, it takes 5.8 seconds to reach 60 mph, it's a pile of trash. The power measure is skewed. It probably dynoes about 200hp 300 lb-ft WHP.

You seriously are comparing this newly designed hybrid to an already existing company which has always made luxury vehicles which costs twice as much probably more and complaining about a .6 seconds of difference ? I just can't help but LOL. They've started a revolution.. Luxury Hybrids!! i don't see much difference in the Panamera. it has style, power, beauty and its easier on your wallet big time! its a sedan get over it they are not meant to be race cars.
Look at all the "new" vehicels that kick everyones ass in terms of speed. Gumpert, Ascari, Ariel Etc. It's not the .6 seconds that you have to notice in fact if they were the exact same the point would be exactly the same. It's the fact that they state it puts out 900 Lb-ft, and anyone who's experienced would know that in a Petrolium engine (Gas, Diesel) if the car had 900 Lb.-Ft the 0-60 time would be around 3.9.
We're also talking about a car that runs mainly electric not about power. I would buy this car because of the convenience in it being a hybrid i don't need a car to go from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds when you can't even push it to the limit with the speed laws... this is a luxury sedan made for daily commutes not to race your fellow drivers. sleek outer design but with that price tag like that they could have done better on the interior. Just look at the 2010 Jaguar XJ interior!!
All I meant to say was you can't look at electric power the same way as Gasoline/Diesel power. Because the specs look good on paper but they don't perform on the road. It must have something to do with the method the motor actually creates the power.
@MrBangass Amen Amen Amen.... I dont get why people first of all cant afford these god damn cars anyways, but they' sit up on youtube yelling off specs and calling highbrids shitty. Then, the funnier aspect, is that speed limits do exist. So yeah I guess we all do need race cars to commute to work in, makes plenty of sense to own a car that can get to 60 in 5.5 seconds and that has a top speed of 250 miles per hour, because you know, there isnt a SPEED LIMIT or anything :)
403 Hp 900 lb.-ft. of torque and 0-60 in 5.8? That's fucking piss poor
The Porsche Panamera weighs a pound more, has only 400 Hp and 369 lb.-ft. And can go from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds.
And don't bull shit about the better mileage. I'm talking power here and for 400hp 900 lb.-ft that aerodynamic vehicle and 5.8 seconds to 60, Jesus fucking christ. Electric motors don't produce rear power. I wouldn't be surprised if Fisker fucked up the power measurment.
The energy to run electric cars is more than 80% coal = FAIL. The environmental damage done producing the batteries for electric cars = FAIL. I'll stick to my 50mpg 4 cylinder.
true, what about wind mill energy company - charge less - no coal needed. So not damages done producting the batteries for electric cars. Or even solar system on the hard top.
@oXe2 of course you don't. they are, probably, about the mechanical stuff. i guess they mean the powertraine systems only. still i don't think it was SO SECRETE, so remarking "military techs" is just an advertising trick..
I would only complain about the gas thank in the middle of the sits that isn't smart specially , when you have a girl inside and you need the whole back sits, haha everything elses about this car us cool. Peace.
I understand where that kid is coming from. Because I love the sound of a nice european engine, but electrics where its at now. And once it's perfected, the performance will eclipse that of gasoline cars. Electricity is instantaneous, and not as many moving mechanical parts are needed to move it.
I sat in this at the 2009 NY auto show...very nice..the solar panel is about 200 watts so if it charged the battery when parked in the sun you'd get a couple of miles extra per day at best...
The interesting thing is I just read that he (Fisker) re-adjusted the estimated mpg to 67.2, which is also exactly the average world life expectancy of a human.
I like the solar panel roof concept. The cars coming out today, with eco technology is an exciting time to be around. I wonder how Mini Cooper is going to respond now? I wish they would start developing their efficiency designs now.
Eventually this technology will become affordable to everyone but you have to start with luxury products as the batteries for EVs and series hybrids are very expensive due to low volume manufacturing volume.
Eventually in the near future we'll see something the price of a Charger or Camaro.
But, we really NEED NOW electric cars to be available for all pockets, the planet cannot take it any longer. Hopefully, a sensitive company (with this matter) will rise from the shadows to solve this need, this demand. I wish our automotive companies would be more commited with the planet putting all these nice and green cars at everyone's reach.
I think it a stuning car, totally green (it's exactly what the planet needs now on these days), aerodinamic without losing interior space, great style, sporty, good gravity center, low weight, great technology. In one word: AMAZING!!
And as always, there is a "BUT": THE PRICE!!
In my opinion it is still HIGH
It should be 50k at least.
But I guess this issue will be solve with time, as always. New technologies cost more at the beggining, later they decrease in price.
Well... looking like an Aston isnt a bad thing. They do win design awards for every single car they make. However I dont think this looks too much like an Aston Martin.
this is coming from someone with a pink profile. lol. You have no education, and you have no class, so you would not know quality when it hits you in the face. Your idea of bling bling is a White Lambo like the rest of the dumb rappers.
why cant they just make an all electric car?? These hybrids are worthless. I do like the look of this one, but common... enough with hybrids! I want something that I dont have to put gas in at all!
The problem with an ALL electric car is reality. How are you going to drive 700 miles in your all electric car? Stop every 300 miles for a day? You forget to charge your car and need to go to work in the morning, what do you do? Hybrids let us get the good from both. Since the car runs off an electric motor charged by gas it will be easy to replace that power souce with something better in the futer, like hydrogen, with out a major change that has to happen all at once. Hybrids are the future
Also, they are the future because they are cheaper. Being "green" is not it. They also have more potencial for preformance than even gas. The limiting factor is battery power. We need a way to charge a car in under 30 min, and not destroy the life of the battery. Also, there actually IS an all electric Sport car; it is call the Tesla, 3.7 sec 0-60 with a 200 mile range when driving calm. Tesla is now profitable, so there IS some demand. It is a very fun car, but it is only fun, not practical.
I did not mean to type regardless in the post below.
Right now americans have a cheap option that works, and everyone understands, I think the change would be too hard, and not enough would be willing to "maybe" have fuel for their car for the next 20 years, that was not the case back then, there was no option as good as gas cars. The reality is that most americans WANT clean option, but function and price tend to win. That is my opinion.
lol I never drive 300 miles in any given day. The most I ever drive is 15 miles. The EV1 could drive 90 miles between charges and that was with the old style lead acid type batteries. That car was built in the 1990s and since our battery technology has advanced considerably. The reason why we have hybrid cars is because the US is basically owned and ran by the oil business.
lots of americans drive on road trips, why shoot yourself in the foot? With a plugin hybrid you can never use gas until the day you need to drive 700 miles, for you this car is perfect. Regardless
true, Americans take road trips, but not so often these days. with the price of gas, most people r more concerned about affording the trip to work and back. I dont think the change to an electric would be to great for Americans to accept. After all, many people accepted the Prias even if it is a new technology and part electric (not to mention ugly as hell). I think most r more concerned about gas prices to really care about what they drive as long as it is cheap to operate.
100mpg is pretty damn good. an all electric car like the tesla takes 12 hours to charge and only goes about 150-200 miles. this car keeps going on just a sip of fuel.
yes I like the car, but give credit when its due...the Tesla is zero gas, and that means a lot....zero versus hybrid ....gas one day will be history same as dinosaurs, whether we like it or not, so we'd better start advancing in the zero gas projects....and by the way, Tesla do 300 miles per charge, which is a lot, 0-60 miles in 4 second, that's even faster than Ferrari...so what you talking about....both cars are cool, but I would side with tesla because of the zero gas
I can see why you don't like hybrids but think about it, say you driving from Seattle to LA are you going to stop every 200 or so miles to charge your Tesla Roadster for six hours then keep going?
didn't think so. the hybrid's give you the convenience of fuel efficiency so you don't get stranded in the dessert. I drive 30 miles daily mainly to work and home, I would never pay for gas just a bit more on my electric, until I decide to goo see my family =) in Boston. 300Miles North.
Wow their Fisker your not the first "cool" invironmental vehicle. That award belongs to the Tesla Roadster. You do come in at an elegant second place.
Go electric. Better efficiency and more torque from electric motors. The relatively low top speed is probably electronically limited for safety. That means that it probably isn't hard to find someone to disengage that safety. And who actually goes over 125 mph? Better yet, go full electric like the Tesla model s. Electric has better maintenance costs, but not when you pair it with a gas engine.
They have promised that batteries will last 100,000 miles before a reduction in performance. after that you will see reduced performance but they will be functional. Researchers believe battery capacity can be doubled or tripled based on current technology not counting nano engineering and new air anodes. within a decade, the cost of a replacement battery will be cheaper than a transmission replacement, engine rebuild and combustion engine maintenance that you require now. Electric is the future
The problem with litium ion batteries is that you have to carry twice the capacity that will never be used so it can last longer(unlike a cell phone). Other wise, if you use more than 50-70% of its charge all the time, they won't last 100k miles.
Yes, that is a good point. Though for all their problems, Li-ion batteries are still the best choice given their energy density and superior weight advantage over other battery compositions. This is true for today. As for tomorrow........ I don't know if they will be the best. Engineering the anodes may resolve the issue of not charging/discharging completely. Another possibility is that increased capacity will render that argument moot. Thanks for the civil reply, have a good day.
The Cobalt shares the same 2.0L Turbo Ecotec motor, why not buy that and use the leftover $55,000 to pay for gas, YOU HAVE MORE FUN DRIVING THAT.
turbocharged Cobalt 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in a class-leading 5.5 seconds, and a quarter mile time of 13.9 seconds at 102.5 mph (165.0 km/h). top speed155 MPH!!
Despite its eco-friendly background the Karma features a 125 mph (201 km/h) top speed and is capable of reaching 60 mph (97 km/h) from a standstill in 5.8 seconds.
Big oil has been destroying our enviroment for too long, Terrorists funding is tied to oil profits. Smog is their fault also....When an accident happens (Exon valdese) Big oil is NOT responsible...And cleanup is just on the surface.
Electric's will show these JERKS how to sit on their TOXIC waste .
Electrics dont need WAR to run,
Solar is a home based , NON polluting, run your car for free source of energy..
DO YOU SUPPORT TERRORISM.??....Then stop buying their oil
It's because of companies like these and Tesla motors that I will NOT MISS any of the "Big 3" automakers. Chrysler, GM and Ford .... YOU CAN ALL GO FUCK YOURSELVES!!!
@Ctrl952 update: Fisker autos will also be built in a reclaimed GM plant in Wilmington, Delaware. (Good idea to avoid Euro fluctuations while getting production closer to largest potential market.: the Karma's 4-cylinder gasoline on-board recharger is a GM motor, even when the chassis are assembled in Finland.)
Ford is the only one of them that hasn't gone bankrupt, and that's only because they got enough money from selling Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin.
The man behind it is the artist who drew the pictures and chose to be headquartered in the US. The engineering and design is being done in Pontiac by Americans from the American car companies.
He was hired to design the body for the first version of the Model S, and spent most his time trying to sabotage the design while moonlighting on this hunk of crap.

Well... looking like an Aston isnt a bad thing. They do win design awards for every single car they make. However I dont think this looks too much like an Aston Martin.
Janusha 2 years ago
@Janusha
Aston Martin looks like crap. Don't care about biased opinions of some stupid design awards.
f00kumofo123 2 years ago
Well that just makes you a really uneducated person that just dont know any better.
Janusha 2 years ago
@Janusha
What the hell has education anything to do with stupid cars? And why is it every moron tries to personalize fucking crap around?

this is coming from someone with a pink profile. lol. You have no education, and you have no class, so you would not know quality when it hits you in the face. Your idea of bling bling is a White Lambo like the rest of the dumb rappers.

This sounds like an intelligent bunch. Can one of you tell me why recharging can't work off a dynamo system like on a bike light kind of arrangement?
svdpsy 2 years ago
why cant they just make an all electric car?? These hybrids are worthless. I do like the look of this one, but common... enough with hybrids! I want something that I dont have to put gas in at all!
LordSamuelJ 2 years ago
The problem with an ALL electric car is reality. How are you going to drive 700 miles in your all electric car? Stop every 300 miles for a day? You forget to charge your car and need to go to work in the morning, what do you do? Hybrids let us get the good from both. Since the car runs off an electric motor charged by gas it will be easy to replace that power souce with something better in the futer, like hydrogen, with out a major change that has to happen all at once. Hybrids are the future
njfife 2 years ago
Also, they are the future because they are cheaper. Being "green" is not it. They also have more potencial for preformance than even gas. The limiting factor is battery power. We need a way to charge a car in under 30 min, and not destroy the life of the battery. Also, there actually IS an all electric Sport car; it is call the Tesla, 3.7 sec 0-60 with a 200 mile range when driving calm. Tesla is now profitable, so there IS some demand. It is a very fun car, but it is only fun, not practical.
njfife 2 years ago
You know, the same statement was also said about early gasoline cars. Time and technology was the answer to that.
LordSamuelJ 2 years ago
I did not mean to type regardless in the post below.
Right now americans have a cheap option that works, and everyone understands, I think the change would be too hard, and not enough would be willing to "maybe" have fuel for their car for the next 20 years, that was not the case back then, there was no option as good as gas cars. The reality is that most americans WANT clean option, but function and price tend to win. That is my opinion.
njfife 2 years ago
lol I never drive 300 miles in any given day.
LordSamuelJ 2 years ago
What do you have to say about the european car makers than? There supposed to be 'superior'....
chelsea4life11 2 years ago
lots of americans drive on road trips, why shoot yourself in the foot? With a plugin hybrid you can never use gas until the day you need to drive 700 miles, for you this car is perfect. Regardless
njfife 2 years ago
true, Americans take road trips, but not so often these days. with the price of gas, most people r more concerned about affording the trip to work and back. I dont think the change to an electric would be to great for Americans to accept. After all, many people accepted the Prias even if it is a new technology and part electric (not to mention ugly as hell). I think most r more concerned about gas prices to really care about what they drive as long as it is cheap to operate.
LordSamuelJ 2 years ago
100mpg is pretty damn good. an all electric car like the tesla takes 12 hours to charge and only goes about 150-200 miles. this car keeps going on just a sip of fuel.
sintetsu 2 years ago
yes I like the car, but give credit when its due...the Tesla is zero gas, and that means a lot....zero versus hybrid ....gas one day will be history same as dinosaurs, whether we like it or not, so we'd better start advancing in the zero gas projects....and by the way, Tesla do 300 miles per charge, which is a lot, 0-60 miles in 4 second, that's even faster than Ferrari...so what you talking about....both cars are cool, but I would side with tesla because of the zero gas
art33556677 2 years ago
@LordSamuelJ you're looking for Tesla Roadster or better.. Tesla S!
heartbreakasam 1 year ago
i dont like hybrids.. you have to go full electric like Tesla so we can stick it to the oil barons :)

What, and get stuck a hundred miles from anywhere. I will take my oil thank you.

@sjwhite73

Go electric. Better efficiency and more torque from electric motors. The relatively low top speed is probably electronically limited for safety. That means that it probably isn't hard to find someone to disengage that safety. And who actually goes over 125 mph? Better yet, go full electric like the Tesla model s. Electric has better maintenance costs, but not when you pair it with a gas engine.
trekgeek1 2 years ago
Tell that to the people making a killing on oil sales. Too sad that big money will try and cush the little guy.
I'd love to see all electric cars. Only problem would be if the electricity went out for a week. I'd have to have a regular car to get to work.
HunterXray 2 years ago
And when your battery packs finally die, like REALLY die and won't hold a charge, you're fucked.
420witchdoctor 2 years ago
They have promised that batteries will last 100,000 miles before a reduction in performance. after that you will see reduced performance but they will be functional. Researchers believe battery capacity can be doubled or tripled based on current technology not counting nano engineering and new air anodes. within a decade, the cost of a replacement battery will be cheaper than a transmission replacement, engine rebuild and combustion engine maintenance that you require now. Electric is the future
trekgeek1 2 years ago
No, NUCLEAR FUSION is, lol. Nah, I agree, I love electric cars.
420witchdoctor 2 years ago
Nothing like a coal powered car, that makes you feel green!
Lamnont 2 years ago
For sure, lol!
420witchdoctor 2 years ago
The problem with litium ion batteries is that you have to carry twice the capacity that will never be used so it can last longer(unlike a cell phone). Other wise, if you use more than 50-70% of its charge all the time, they won't last 100k miles.
3089280288 2 years ago

Despite its eco-friendly background the Karma features a 125 mph (201 km/h) top speed and is capable of reaching 60 mph (97 km/h) from a standstill in 5.8 seconds.
super00su 2 years ago
$80,000 with a top speed 125 mph
no thanks i take a hybrid V8 that get 50 mpg
and can get to at least 150 mph
if i got $80,000 i don't give a shit about fuel economy.

@Ctrl952 update: Fisker autos will also be built in a reclaimed GM plant in Wilmington, Delaware. (Good idea to avoid Euro fluctuations while getting production closer to largest potential market.: the Karma's 4-cylinder gasoline on-board recharger is a GM motor, even when the chassis are assembled in Finland.)

I don't understand why the big 3 automakers aren't doing things like this?
nerox2006x 2 years ago 4
That's why they aren't the "Big 3" any more !
Ford is the only one of them that hasn't gone bankrupt, and that's only because they got enough money from selling Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin.

If the man behind it isn't American its not American to me...
g9baracuta 3 years ago
The man behind it is the artist who drew the pictures and chose to be headquartered in the US. The engineering and design is being done in Pontiac by Americans from the American car companies.
VenisonFajitas 2 years ago
Well you've ruined it for me, i don't like it now
Much better if it was Danish, they got style - as we can clearly see in the design
g9baracuta 2 years ago
There is no "style" in engineering...the styling is done by Henrik so you should be just fine if style is what you care about.
VenisonFajitas 2 years ago
quite the opposite, thats what has put me of, style is important but far from the most important, i had hoped the engineering was done in europe :(
