I cannot resist to add a remark that, Violetta is supposed to be dying of tuberculosis, and too weak to even put on her dress; but how can she sing so many technically-demanding arias without any difficulty? This is hilarious. No offense to Verdi --the music is great.
@wawa314159 Jajaja Lol! My grandmother thinks exactly the same!! Jajajajaja, wierd! :D But how would it be if she really act like she dying of tuberculosis? xD It wouldn´t be the amazing it actually is!! jajajaja
What a concept! The stage setting, the lighting, the actors and especially Netrebko and Villazon make for an outstanding performance. Unbelievable. All in all the best Traviata that's ever been staged so far. Gives me goosebumps.
I have no idea what the story is about, but this performance was beautiful, and did enough where I still felt the emotions of the characters even though I have no idea what they've been through. I love opera!
Ahhhh! It is so sad! She dies alone in the book... It is tragic, but I love that the act was staged with her dying alone. It's perfect. Amazing. Ahhh!
Although I am not too fond of Salzburg's more modern take on productions, I must admit, this was done absolutely beautifully. I really understood the emotions behind the characters, and they all did a brilliant job.
this production is one on the best which existed. I have the DVD and i cry all the time in particular in the final because Anna is pratically the one to do a dead perfect...
She has tuberculosis. She spurned Alfredo, because his father asked her to. (She's demi-monde, a whore who falls in love.) Now that she is dying, his father relents and writes her a letter of apology. But, it is too late, and she dies in his arms after a brief moment of joy.
@louiseduvee, Thanks for your answer, I know a plot of "Traviata" very well and my comment was ironical, I wanted to say, that Anna plays a madwoman, instead of dying from a tuberculosis (these people practically cannot move), and that Anna's playing does not convince me as the spectator.
I saw this one in Amsterdam, where I had seen another one previously....this one best by a long chalk: extremely emotional, well-sung, well-acted, great orchestra: astonishing
Pravo! I enjoyed the modern staging of it - it conveyed such a sense of deep meaning while it promoted not only their vocal abilites but their acting talents as well. The greatest of my compliments goes to the conductor and his orchestra - the intensity would have been all but inconceivable without their emotional playing and his brillant interpretation and immaculate sense of detail. This was astonishing!
I can't help it, I cry everytime! Especially when she is leaning her head against the doctor's shoulders smiling, then when she sings "O Joy!"...im sobbing.
thank you sooo sooooooo much for this! i've been looking for this for so long! absolutely heartbreaking- beautiful, beautiful acting, on all of their parts, but especially netrebko

I hate these sets. They stink. I could get the stage that bare in 5 minutes. Spare me avant-garde designers with their half-assed ideas.
