  • @ninau1 he is one of letterman's band

  • Before 9.11.

    Before Iraq.

    Beautiful.

  • JUST saw her this year and it was a REAL treat; she can NEVER go wrong!

    BRAVA!

GO USAF and Marie Mindnich (1:56)

  • GOsh, she reminds me of a female Springsteen!!!

  • This is definitely one of the better vintages. Can't wait to hear this year's.

  • Folks,

Why aren’t Darlene Love's entries numbering in the Millions? We have Folks dancing amongst the cubicles here in Honolulu!

  • I wish they would put out a collection of all of Darlene Love's appearances on The Letterman Show over the years.

  • WOW!

    WOWOWOWOWOW!!!

I had never seen that one before!

    SPECTACULAR!

  • This one is my favorite too. I'm so proud of all those young men and women backing up our own beloved Darlene Love. Baby it's not Christmas without Darlene!

  • Folks,

Something Extraordinary happened soon after this performance. We are being Tested. There was a Time Before, there is a Time Now, and There will be a Time After. This.

Hold fast to what brought you to where we are now. As a Touchstone, I conjure up sequences like the above. Easily.

    We'll be Ok.

    From Kailua, with Aloha.

    Stephen.

  • This performance and the one from 2005 are my favorites, though I do like them all. Darlene is fantastic! Powerful voice. The Singing Sargeants adds just that touch of extra special .

  • I never miss Darlene on Letterman...this is a great performance...can't say which year I like best though...kinda like picking which child you love more. She has owned this song for years.

  • The Phil Spector Xmas album was released on Nov.22,1963..the same day JFK was murdered...and it basically sank

without a trace..but now it's become a CLASSIC...and this is the best song on the album!!!

  • this is a great Christmas tradition! Thanks Dave merry Christmas to the Late Show staff writers and everybody who makes it happen!

  • Darlene's annual Christmas appearances on "Late Show" are always a treat. This one, however, tops them all, I think. As Dave would say, she blew the roof off the dump!

  • I grew up on the music of the fifties and sixties thanks to my parents, and lookin' back there simply never will be a better time in music.

Darlene you move my soul every time i hear you sing.

  • Awesome Wow!

  • Putting lights on the treessss

I love Darlene every single year but this

    is my favorite,

  • oh I love this song, thanks for sharing Heartbeat :-)

  • Its never really Xmas until I get Phil Spectors Xmas album out and play it about 100 times. Darlene we look forward to seeing you this year on Letterman, hopefully with as many servicemen as possible. Now Pres Obama get this damned war over and bring our men and women HOME!!

  • Hi...I just got a message from Darlene;s agent, They say that Darlene dosen;t. Have a say about the format of David show, So we have to ask for the military show.;

    Tom

The first ever Ronnie Spector & Darlene Love A Christmas Gift For You live shows -Dec.11 Parilla Pac Montgomery College Rockville MD and Dec 17 The Count Basie Theatre Red Bank, NJ.

  • Please email The Letterman Show to have have Dave do a Military show like 2000 with Darlene Love.. It would be a great boost to all of us.

    Tom

  • Darlene is the Best...Dave's show have the Troops on his 2009 on his Christmas Show like he did in 2000.

    Tom

  • ADD A MILLION STARS FOR THE GREATEST FEMALE SINGER EVER. You can put the other trash in the dustbin.Darlene 4 ever!

  • What a shame, just think 3 years later, wonder how many of the brave voices are still alive or still equipt with all four limbs. Burn in hell President Bush

  • They were all proud to serve. And those following the current administration (the Barack Obama administration) into Afghanistan will be just as proud to serve.

Some gave all, but all gave some. I am extremely proud of those in uniform.

  • The worst administration in US history...Dick Cheney's shredder must be working overtime!!!

  • The number of men and women Bush sent to their death is an abomination.

  • The single greatest Christmas song of our generation by the goddess of rock 'n' roll..

  • making my Christmas brighter , wonderful

  • Whew! The tears.....I can't wait for tonight's performance!!!

  • Can you post her performance from 2008? I was not able to see it in Germany, since CBS is not on TV over here! Merry X-Mas!

  • It's up! I typed in Darlene Love 2008.

  • This is obviously a moving and great performance of the greatest Christmas song ever...the 1995 prformance is is simply mindboggling. Watch Letterman TONIGHT!

  • Darlene is performing on Letterman this Tuesday evening, December 23rd.

  • In 2007 David didn't have Darlene sing because the show was in re-runs due to the writer's strike (I believe). LOOK WHAT HAPPENED in 2008. Please please David have her back for Christmas 2008. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS ALL! p.s. This is a great video.

  • ooh, this song sang with this voice can melt the hardest of souls. My goodness!

  • Just realised that we must say a great thank you to all our armed services personel who won't be with their loved ones this Christmas. Hope you all keep safe and will be back with your families soon.We are deeply grateful for all the good work you do for humanity. God bless you all.

  • Wow, love his handfuls of bells at the beginning.

  • Look forward to Ms. Love's appearance on Letterman every year . . . to not watch this blessed event would be SINFUL!!!

  • this one´s not bad, even great. but 1995...wow!!!!

  • Hey, while 1995 is certainly the best, listen to 2000..the singing seargents,,,must be 50 or more .true they amplifiy some more than others ,,but she stood her ground with a 50+ piece backup chorus ..i will be there this Christmas eve !!

  • What is Christmas without Darlene Love singing "Baby Please Come Home", on Late Night with David Letterman. Kudos to NBC for running the 2006 Christmas episode this year on Christmas night. The Christmas season is now complete. Darlene deserves an award for the performace of the year. She is unquestionably a shining star !!!

  • Correction: Kudos to CBS !!!

  • I can't thank you enough for sharing this! This is my favorite x-mas song & album ever! Me & my mom (r.i.p.) would listen to it over & over. Thank you! :` )

  • I think that this version is absolutely fanstastic. I enjoyed comparing the several letterman years of Darlene, but this one is definetly the best!

  • I think 1995 is the best, but this is close.

  • yes 1995 is the best....just exceptional!!!

  • This yearly event reduces me to a puddle every time. This one version especially, with the live cuts to the troops overseas served (no pun intended) to remind us that the song was written as a love letter to a Vietnam era soldier.

  • cannot be bettered - absolutely awesome

  • Of all the times she has done this (and they were always great), I believe this is the one definitive performance where EVERYTHING came together. Paul and the chorus were absolutely in sync. Darlene was just flawless. This one should go in the time capsule.

  • God Bless Ms. Love. And to the Singing Sergeants, HOOAH!

  • I've always loved this version of Darlene Love with the USAF Singing Sergeants!!!!

  • Wow, is that really the US Air Force on backing vocals?

  • Yep ;-)

  • A brillant, goose bump performance. How this woman performed for decades without achieviing superstar status escapes me.

  • In 2 words: Phil Spector. He had her locked into a long-term contract & rarely used her except for some occasional back-up vocals. She also was the lead singer for the Blossoms who were the female singers on Shindig! in the 1960's. If you view old videos of that show, she is the one in the middle with the blond wig. FYI: she also sang lead on the hits "He's a Rebel" & He's Sure the Boy I Love". Phil put the song out by the Crystals; that is Darlene on lead vocals I assure you.

  • Man, even in June this is completely amazing. The one show I always tape of Letterman is when Ms Love is on. So great to see it here.

  • I've watched all of Darlene's videos on YouTube, first time (May 2007) I've seen this one. What a great singer!
