  • worldwide!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • say a clip of Gensis on the sevens age of rock, there awesome!!!

  • my parents met up at a genesis show

  • never thought this was ever filmed.....

  • I'm 13 and i just saw the musical box live with my dad. Genesis is briljant music.

  • Genesis (with PG) got me through my late teens and turned me on to music generally. This is wicked all round, tune and performance. However....

I watch things like this and can't help but think what a lucky little fucker Phil Collins is/was. To think that a band with the same name went on to make "The Squonk" makes me feel quite ill.

  • Waw saw them live in the Montreal University back in 73-74 and I am 55 now and still groove on their music

  • the end is pretty fucking trippy

  • I think Peter was definately into some good acid back then.

  • fantastic music, great composition, amazing live performance. All band members ROCK and Peter Gabriel - he is the MASTER of ceremony.

  • This is not the Genesis I grew up with (on MTV). And I'm glad.

  • Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke.

Fans of this song should read the book.

  • Best Genesis song. EVER!!!

  • Johnnyrosso- you should put in the description that this is from the "midnight special" performance rather than the Shepperton one so people can know there are two videos of this great song performed on youtube ^-^

  • se gli alieni fossero così incredibilmente sexy...vorrei essere invasa ogni giorno !

  • The introduccion of this song is the best i had ever listened with the introduccion of Firth of Fifth. Tony Bank `s piano are THE piano. the things that he do with it are excellent

  • That moment when the top two comments are from a young and old person who both love Genesis. :D

  • They were a great group light years ahead....

  • I want Peter Gabriel to still act like this.

  • @TheOneEyedHound

he should do the Old Man without mask

  • @TheOneEyedHound Me too.

  • Eu tenho esta jóia em vinil. Escuto sozinho.

  • I have this on DVD, Gabriel looks decidedly creepy, at the end of this live he always kinda freaks out and screams like the lost alien he is supposed to be.

  • @peteyguitarguy

Where do I acquire the DVD?

  • Judge not this race by its remains. thank you to the poster myc

  • gamato

  • just saw musical box perform lamb a few hours ago. no words to describe, simply amazing - shut your eyes and it is 1974. all of lamb, then musical box and watcher as encores.

  • @ZourkaMoog Dude! I was there too! Ridgefield Playhouse! AMAZING show. Funny how you see a great show and jump on YT and start looking for clips, lol...Saw them perform TotT twice but LLD was simply awesome!

  • @ebealienhead - wild! saw tott too and that was great, but lamb is on another level. was looking to see if anyone posted clips from the playhouse show.

  • @ebealienhead dude, jlaox1111 has about 4 vids up from the show last night. check it out.

  • I saw this same show Cincinnati in 1973 in small club, incredible

  • @westrokker

    LUCKY >_>

  • where can find good mescaline now..?

  • We will never see anything like this again.

  • this song is absolutely incredible.

  • i jerk to this...esp edit @ 7:18

  • I saw Genesis at the Reading Festival in the early 70's and they did this piece. I'm not sure if any footage of the gig still exists but I remember there being a pyramid structure on stage which gradually rose up in the air (on hydraulics). Then the four sides opened and there was Gabriel staring out at us! These early gigs had some awesome props.

  • @Vandertop

Wow someone who was at the reading gig in 73. I was there as well. The gig was amazing as there was nothing like them at the time. The pyramid was used only once which was at that particular gig. I remember at the end the set there was a stunned silence for a while which transformed into an eruption for them to do an encore.

  • Can't think of one male rock vocalist with such a beautiful, muscled, masculine voice.

  • @2012endofanerror Heard Michael Gira?

  • Great song ... Genesis is one of the best bands in the world

  • I saw this tour in '73. The vision of Gabriel coming up to the mike in his costumes and Rutherford on the keyboards behind him is still etched in my brain.

  • I saw this at the Tower Theater in Phila and was frisking awesome, One of the few concerts that tears rolling down my face for watcher of the skies and the sound was the best, and then of course had to see lamb lies down,

  • Frankly, I had no idea qhat the heck to whole Genesis was back then in Paris.... Thanks for sharing guys so much memories

  • Saw this when it aired on Midnight Special. I thought I was breaking the law as I sat there with my parents.

  • Growing up in western Washington and our famous bad weather makes us Watchers of the Sky.I love this music only Yes is better musically but cant match Peter G on vocals. All due respect to Jon Anderson.

  • Kedves Barátaim! Ekkor volt ereje teljében ez a csodálatos csapat!

  • This is the Midnight Special concert from 1973, pretty good stuff.

  • I was there (4th row, sitting on the floor) when they did their first North American concert at the University of Montreal in 1973. This was their opening number. Good memories !!!

  • You can accredit Genesis with the birth of progressive rock, but the bottom line is Genesis just fit's into no other category but it's wonderful own. Gabriel and Hackett still are innovators whom just cannot be copied in their styles. Wonderful upload

  • Peter Gabriel was and still is such a passionate showman and has one of the most distinct, soothing voices in the music industry.

There's no other band (excepting Pink Floyd) that chills me down to my core like Genesis does. You just don't hear music like this anymore. Or see shows this real, for that matter.

    <3

  • @JBJabbles2 I love Gabriel too and I have experienced those chills you wrote about!

  • @JBJabbles2 you should listen to porcupine tree probably the greatest underrated band of all times

  • @JBJabbles2 What about YES?

  • Possibly the most creative live perfomers.

    Ever.

  • Peter Gabriel - Better than your typical Doctor Who monster of the era!

  • Fantastic performance, unfortunatelly i was only 12 years old at that time,[1973] i started listening at Genesis music in 1976, never saw a concert of them, so i must say thank you for uploading this video and make me feel and live again some of my younger years pre anni di piombo. Grazie

  • This is better than Dracula or anything else in film!!! Great lads!

  • Hard to believe they were around 22, 23 at the time.

  • GOD i love theses vidz.... thanks to all who post these old vieos of CLASSIC GENESIS!!!!!!! F-N-A COTTON F-N-A!!!!!!!

  • always strange to be reminded that phil "the turd" collins once had a soul.

  • Creatures shaped this planet's soil,

now their reign has come to an end.

    Has life again destroyed life,

do they play elsewhere, do they know

    more than their childhood games?

Maybe the lizard's shed its tail,

this is the end of man's long union with Earth.

  • I remember

in R. Emilia (Italy) the sound of 10 finger's chords intro of hammond c3

    (not mellotron guitarguy)

was so loud that the audience was combing his hair.

    Or I do not?.

  • WONDERFUL!!!!

  • I'm 19 and I know what this stuf is haha

Learned the mellotron intro and know hackett's part. Fantastic song and such a great show, would have loved to see them live. Seen the Musical Box a few years ago.

  • @guitarguy940 I'm 14 and I know what this is too.

  • @guitarguy940 congtatulations for yr goods taste. Genesis are one of my favourite bands. I'm 51 ang got lucky enough to see them live twice, in 74 and 95. Different shows, same quality and respect for the audience.

  • @guitarguy940 i'm 13, going to do 14. and i met they with 12

    where's your god now?

  • @Shadic159 I'm 13, going on 14. I found out about them at 7. Where's your Grand Architect of the Universe now?

    (PS: Your grammar sucks...)

  • @Shadic159 what? how can you do 14? "met they with 12"? Your english is so horrible, I don't know what you are saying at all.

    No gods, no competition here.

  • Thanks god x making me bear in the far 1959, i could see but mostly listen to this and other equally great groups of the seventies era. Saw genesis in rome for the lamb lies down on broadway tour at eur palasport. I was there

  • @tepiegocomenasdraia I wish I had been there! :-)

  • @tepiegocomenasdraia I've seen them in rotterdam 1975 lamb lise down om brodway
