  • @roquefort88888 Remember the emporer never had any real power. right now the power is with the diet, before the diet the militarists, and before them the shogunate. The emporer is now and always has been the spiritual leader and prime representative of japan and it's culture. He has never ruled japan. Japan is a constitutional monarchy with a parlaimentary type government, just like Great Britain. He has great influence over his people, and that is power itself, even if not pro.

  • And the crowd goes wild

  • They are related in about half of the cult.

  • I think,,,Although it is difficult to compare, the Emperor is similar to Pope His Majesty.

And he understands completely that self is also a constitutional monarch.

  • the emperor would be pleased with you!

  • HEY HIROKO u passed by Uniclo that s a cool and in expensive i live that store

  • Банзай! ))

  • Hiroko, what are your views on the emperor and what would you think of a political group that wishes to place him back in charge?

  • So many japanese paper flags. There should be folding fans, too.

  • @ingram9mm

The real Korea king is living in 済州島

He is the Chief of the AINA ethnic group.

  • @ingram9mm

Korea had been slave country of China before empire of Japan won 清dynasty in 1895.

  • @ingram9mm

History education in Korea is only a joke to non-Koreans.

    Koreans are natural born slaves.

    ---1895:slave of China

    1896---1945:slave of Japan

    1946--- slave of America

  • @ingram9mm

At first ,Korea was a colony of China.

  • @ingram9mm

kudara was a colony of Japan. King of kudara is a Japanese from Kyushu district.

  • @MsCrunktastic I think to avoid diseases. :)

  • Thank you, i will subscribe to your channel right now :D. I like very much this kind of videos showing those daily stuff. Greetings from southamerica, Chile :P.

  • wait where do you live, is this in tokyo???

  • You comment about many countries around the world are patriotic about their own country. My opinion that japan is not is because of the history of what the flag meant during ww2. The flag represented the totalitarian military dictatorship that japan exercised over other countries in Asia. Just like Germans were not proud of their flag because of the badness of Hitler. Growing in USA with Latin American roots we are so proud because they teach us to passionate and respect and value our history,

  • ah that awesome feeling when you turn back and see all those people waiting while you are at the top smiling at them :D

  • 人が多いですね!すごいね。。。

    天皇はロボットのように話しているんですがだれも笑いませんでした。面白かったと思いますけど発言は早かった。:/

  • The gate where u entered to see the emperor is the most expensive land on the face of this planet...great video , your so pretty btw :)

  • The old man who emigrated said from Japan to U.S.A. in a childhood.

The Japanese does not know that it is the nation which Japan is easy to live on peace for to a cuttlefish.

U.S.A. denies racial discrimination, but U.S.A. is a country of the racial discrimination.

In Japan, even a white man does not discriminate against even a black.

  • That looks pretty cool. Where was it?

  • Anata wa kawaii desu :) Ganbattemasu!~~

  • 日本に帰りたくなった~T□T

    ちなみに天皇陛下と美智子様に会いましたよ~

    握手までしてくれました^^

  • Is that all the Emperor of japan can attract, such a small crowd. Iron Maiden can attract a 1000 times more fans than the Emperor of Japan.

  • @macktheknife888

    Lol Hilarious.

The Iron Maiden Part LOL! :)

  • That is incredible, it just makes me think my Grandmother getting to meet the Emperor when they visited BC in the last 2 years or so (cant remember exactly when) even that more significant.

  • WEEABOS!

  • sugoi!!!, i really love such video!!! keep posting more vids about important events in japan!!! it's make me sooooo exicited!!! nihon e ikitai,,,,,

  • 創価のCM音声さえ無ければ、本当にいいビデオだね。

  • can foreigners do this?

  • O HAY! I remember being greeted by the emperor in new years 2008! Good memories.

  • "You thought that the line for Final Fantasy was crazy. This is even crazier."

    I LOLed. xD

  • I've never seen those who enter inside of the imperial palace before.

  • 天皇陛下万歳!

  • 100% fantastic. I miss your beautiful country. Thank you for taking me there for 8:12 minutes :D

Keep up the good work Hiroko!! *Subscribed*

  • Nice video, Hiroko. The Japanese emperor sounds like a good man during the event. I just hope that Japan continues to put more good rulers into power. Because your emperor might just be my emperor in a decade or so.

  • Why these monarchs are hiding behind bullet proof glass I thought japans are the most monarchy supporters on earth?

How many billions of tax payer money do they consume per year?

  • Can I have that Japanese flag for the world cup, please?.....LOL...Always support Japan...has well has England.

  • 5:25 You look a little bit like Marina Watanabe there.

And that's crazy with the whole emperor thing. Japan is so organized in and clean in everything. I kind of wish I was raised there.

  • hiroko chan,

your videos are great.. i never really thought about it before, but the fact that you use intermittent japanese and english really helps my nihongo study. My japanese is not yet good enough to follow when you speak entirely in japanese, so the fact that you speak english in between helps me follow the topic and helps me guess/understand your japanese which is great practice. Thankyou.

  • Japan looks like a really nice place.

  • What's wit the masks?

  • Come on... You have this SALE plague, too? America is conquering the whole world!!!

  • Nationalism is dangerous. There are so many things to love in your country, to be proud of... why a emperors, politics, commanders, flags, armies?

Who is the emperor? what he does? whats his merits? what he teaches? its just image. Why greeting someone who you don't know nothing about?

    "Imagine there's no countries..."

    Peace!

  • @ZackaryEntertainment

Perhaps, I think that it is an influence of influenza.

  • I like the Emperor how he is very nice :)

His face is soo relaxed & conforting lol sounds wierd but he looks so harmless xD

  • Hey! I was there too! we went for the earliest appearance though, and we got pretty close ;)

  • I'm sorry you have mistaken me for someone who cares about your crazy rambling. What are you about 13? That stuff happened to your great-grandparents, probably great-great-grandparents. YOU never experienced any of it so shut up, jkiller100, and grow up, little child.

  • great job on this video. The greeting ceremony was so interesting to watch.

  • XD was funny when the video sped up!

  • He is a Good US governor

  • Hiroko, you haven't deserted us, have you?

    Where are you?

  • Just about to publish another video. ;-)

  • Whew, just in time. XD

  • very lively

  • I still don't get why he is still called "emperor" in English. Japanese imperialism was over 60+ years ago and Japan has no subject countries now and he has no political power.. He doesn't fit the title "emperor" by every definition.

  • in fact, its a mistake call him "emperor" ,the formal title of the monarch of japan is "tenno" or heavenly ruler, and thats has a historical background in the ancient japan and the shinto beliefs.

  • good point there. ;-)

  • don't blame the Japanese - that's an english translation of tenno and they were called tenno and referred to as emperors by english historians way back to the 7th century when the Imperial court didn't even control the whole of Honshu

  • 2:25 was the best part of the video. Nice looking shepherd. I didn't know the nihongo no keisatsu used them as well.

  • Those trees are all green, what are they??/

  • If you want to see some serious shopping then you need to watch some of the "black friday" videos of Americans shopping for christmas the day after thanks giving. Theyre pretty ruthless. People get trampled.

  • I'm uploading my video of the Emperor's speech right now. I linked your video in the sidebar because my camera sucks and you got a way better shot of him! Plus your video also has translation!

    Happy New Year!

  • new years sale rocks! :D

  • Why some people have white mask on theyr faces? O.O?

  • because they're ill, even if they only have a cold they wear masks. people over there are very respectful that they take this precaution to not infect other people.

  • thank you!

  • @ZeroJohn

i totally agree with that policy, when i watch a sick person in my country, people don't wear masks, its so risky to be infected.

  • @ZeroJohn does a mask rly prevent the illness from spreading? i highly doubt that

  • @ZeroJohn I wish people would wear those masks here in the UK, instead they just cough & sneeze all over the place.

  • there doctors.. lol

  • Great video. Always enjoy your take on Japanese culture/events.

  • Hey I went there too! The number of people that went was amazing but it was well organised. When he came out there was so many people that forgot to actually wave the flag and instead just stood there crazily taking pictures! lol Amazing!

  • BTW, I have to ask Hiroko, are you really 4'11"? Your obviously not tall, but you don't look that small in your videos. Maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks on me.

4'11"...man...my cat is taller than that. ;)

  • that's kinda ignorant she can't help her height

  • I didn't say it was good or bad. Only meant as a light hearted comment anyway...no offence meant Hiroko.

  • lol i know.

  • sorry it just seemed kinda blunt but now I know what you mean. thanks for cleaing it up :D

  • Heh, blast my sardonic English sense of humour, it's always getting me in trouble. I've already bashed the French in just this thread alone. I only hope Martyn has schooled Hiroko in this.

*Sigh* It's like Marmite. You either love it or hate it...or you're an American and you just don't get it. :D

  • hey I'm an Asian American!!! :p

  • Spectacular Video.

  • Great enjoyable as always. I'm curious though, why were so many people wearing face masks?

  • It is just normal to see a bunch of people with face masks during the colder seasons in Japan...

They wear masks if they get sick in order not to pass it to other people...

  • usually because it's the cold season in the winter so people wear masks as to not spread germs.

  • i wonder what it is that drives people to a man who has no importance in the government, and dont give me that royal blood bs.they arent better than anyone else in japan

  • you'll never know...it is not about royal blood or importance in politics...

it is simply loving ur emperor...

  • Comment removed

  • Japanese people really do love their lines don't they ?

    :)

  • You're videos are always so cute :P

It looks like that security was just for show, as far as I could tell, there were very few police compared to the size of the crowd.

    hehe 4'11"

  • super interesting video : D

    That sucks that you didn't get to see anything XDDD I'm short, too, so I definitely know how you feel~! Crowds make it so I get lost easily ;_;

    haha Thanks for sharing, hiroko!!

  • すごい。おもしろかったね。ありがとうございます。

  • Wow, really thanks for sharing this video! I hope I will be able to go there myself next year.

  • Tsuyoshivić ?!

    ウサヴィッチ好き?

  • I don't know what you said, but I was wondering who this "Tsuyoshivić " guy was. haha

  • @6663000

I believe it's her cameraman. She introduced him several videos ago.

  • 6663000,

Usavich is a fictional animated bunny rabbit in a Soviet prison. Search YouTube, there should be clips somewhere.

  • Tsuyoshivić likes Stojković, so it's nothing to do with Usavich! ;-)

  • すごいビデオですね。日本人はそんなに

    愛国心を思っていると知らなかったです。

I once heard this Japanese kotowaza but now

I can't find it. にきびは愛の印。Have you ever heard that kotowaza before?

  • I love your vids ! Keep posting ! Thanks !

  • your so small! but really cute sill :P

make me just want to hug you!

  • She made me feel like I was actually there! Great vid hun 5*****

  • Thanks for showing.. haha you're so cute.. poor you went out of your way to go see the royal family and didn't even see anything (except the emperor's hand hahaah).

Thanks for showing.. always a pleasure watching your videos.

  • Reminds me of our royal family in the UK. Just wish we could skip Queenie and Charles, and get straight to young William.

When I think about it, England and Japan have a lot of similarities. Both island nations, both have royal families, both drink tea (:P), both have feudal histories, we both hate our continental neighbors (:P)...I could go on and on...

  • AND, both of the police security guards ride horses. :D

  • yeah but your neighbors are much nicer than ours..

  • Haha. The Germans aren't too bad I suppose, but I draw the line with the French. Poking fun at our cheese eating neighbors is a national pastime. After all, the only good thing to come out of France is the ferry to England. ;)

  • u forgot french fries lol

  • The only difference I can think of is Cannibalism during WWII.

...and not covering their mouths when they cough.

  • what do you mean they are worse than everyone else?

  • I meant, You are right they are no better than anyone else in Japan, and In my opinion they are worse. The Royal Family in UK & Japan are parasites.

Sorry, I deleted that comment after I sent it, as I figured it would not come across clear enough.

  • i wouldnt say they are parasites , and i have no gripe with them specifically,i just hate royalty and what it represents, which is, hey we are better than you guys, god said so ,therefore praise us.but really the queen of britain is much worse.

  • Worse in which way? Because she is German ;)

I consider them to be parasites, as they are living off of us, the peoples taxes.

  • lol i didnt even know she was german.were talking about the queen of britain right? i dont like her because she is snobby i think. i was unaware of this tax thing.hmmm the tax thing is truly repulsive unless she actually does something beneficial for the state like every other frikn person

  • actually the british monarchy brings in a lot of money thru tourism and merchandising. And they pay rent. I know it's fashionable to scream down with the monarchy but a bit of research shows that the UK is better with them than without.

  • But is it not also true they don't have to pay taxes?

  • I think that's a misunderstanding...I don't think (at least Japanese royal family) they act like they are better than anyone else. Maybe the ppl who surround them (relatives) but not the direct family of emperors. I don't think princess Diana thought/lived like that either. It really depends, and it's too soon to make a judgement like that I think...

  • Diana was married into Royalty and not born into it, so that is a slightly different case.

The current emperor is just an old man, and I feel a certain amount of sorrow for them and the way they are forced to live. but Hirohito....

  • I mean, I feel sympathetic for the emperor and his family sometimes. Imagine being born in a place where you have no choice in life, you know? They are not even allowed to complain. Most people who showed up here don't even care about them but came just because it was something that happened on new years and it was free, and they now can say "I saw the emperor!"

  • I agree with you - I have spoken to many Japanese about this before and to them the Emperor is just a symbol of culture, but - to some people, the Emperor system is a symbol of hate, as long as there are Uyoku on the street, "Zainichi" Koreans and a long history of war crimes.

Anyway, I am against royalty in any country, its good for tourism...

  • i actually liked diana, its too bad what happened to her.but come on hiroko ,if an "average" guy with no credentials or any fame wanted to marry the japanese emperor's daughter(if he has one)do you think he would let him? i dont think he would

  • No, because he doesn't have any choice. The emperor is not the one who makes decisions on things. When i see him smiles, the way he talks, I don't see a "dictator" in him, but my grandpa figure. He is someone who were born in a royal family, accepted it, and making the best out of his path.

(I don't like those around him much....)

  • maybe my gripe is with the fact that we in fact have emporers and kings . to me all these things represent a symbol of 1 man being better than another man,and that bothers me

  • haha, yeah me neither. but it has happened for thousands of years long! Gave me another interest in looking deeper into this Shinto/emperorism system now! you got me excited! ;-)

  • hmmm ill look into too.thanks ! youve given me a great big boner for the past! oh sorry ! i forgot i cant say such to you like that ..your conservative! ahhh ..sumimasen !! hontoni gomenasai !

  • you got me. lol

  • lol ill stop lol

  • illyas1, well you SHOULD have a gripe with the very fact this is the 21st century and monarchies still exist. As a matter of fact you'd be a fool to NOT be bothered by this. Even if modern kings/emperors hold little political power, the very fact that they are given such titles is undemocratic and should not be in practice.

I think all modern-day monarchs (and their heirs) should be executed.

  • It sounded like a crowd of chipmunks were waiting to see the Emperor on fast forward lol.

  • Thankyou for sharing this occasion!!! =)

  • Kyo-wah Hiroko

Excuse me Hiroko for sounding like noob by speaking your language. lol

  • To clear things up a little for you, "kyou" just means "today". "Wa" is one of the particles that can be used in conjunction with "kyou" in a sentence, depending on what you're saying.

  • Great video of your visit to see the emperor...thanks for sharing!

  • Great video, thank you very much! :]

  • That was a great video, thank you for making it. :) I think I would like to go see the Emperor's message one day.

That shop line at the end was so long! Did you get in?

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • Great video like always. Grab bags are nice but im with you on size and color. But it some times makes it fun.

    Happy New Year!

  • At :38 Hiroko looks like a Japanese Princess Leah. I guess it was too cold to wear the gold bikini.

  • Cool nice to see people proud of there country nothing wrong with it ralling pride. that car in the background at 5:36 seen trucks like that with all anime art all over it forgot the name of the pratice thou. Good luck and good fortune to all japan this year.
