@RandomDCE I saw Angry Joe's Rant on UmvC3. While he did bring up some good (if rather loud) points, I was like “Well what did you expect, Joe? Capcom's got to have...Money!” Besides, I want my Vergil, Nemisis, Ghost Rider and Iron Fist, and no angry fanboy is gonna stop me buying this game!

I personally love it when crossover's have obscure charcater's. Hell, that was my biggest complaint about MKvsDCU, that they played it too safe with the charecters. (Even though I hated Dc at the time with a burning passion, as my first dc comic was countdown tto infinite crisis.)

I'm getting this game, only because I never got the original MvC3 released LESS THAN A YEAR ago. I'm pretty people aren't getting it because Mega Man is STILL absent, granted, i would like Mega Man in my Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but i'm still buying it.
Canceling MML3 notwithstanding, isn't this kinda of a kick to the balls of the people who originally bought MvC3? I mean, really Capcom?
They said it was because the tsunami & earthquake crippled their production schedule, buuuuuuuut then wouldn't it make more sense to release the DLC than go with a full retail release? Doesn't it take more production time and effort to make discs and ship them out than to charge for DLC?

@kaihedgie If they want to release this as a full retail title, that's fine. But I don't see why they're not also releasing it as DLC, since 12 new characters is effectively a DLC pack. Not only is it a courtesy to people who already bought the game, but it makes playing between those that bought the original and those that bought the new game much less problematic. I'm just saying if I bought the original game for $50 or something, I'm not going to pay another $40 for 12 more characters.

@kaihedgie And that's kind of a sleazy business model that Capcom has abused before with Street Fighter II: addressing problems with the first game and then re-releasing it for roughly the price of a new game with some new additions. I can see that backfiring when people realize they can just wait for the next Super Arcade Edition to come out.
And just for the record, I never bitched about DLC. I thought MvC3 was fine as-is, especially WITH DLC.
Also, Angry Joe also said that the whole "champion of the gamers" thing was something said due to 2 things at that time.

As far as the whole DLC thing goes, it definitely makes more sense, since fans can simply pick and choose which fighters, areas and features they want, rather than having to go out and buy another disc that makes the original disc that they paid $60 for about nine months prior completely useless (unless Game Stop would pay a fair price for it. As if).
As far as all of the old school re-releases are concerned, things have changed in the last 10-20 years. DLC replaces the need for them.
Wouldn't it have been cheaper for them to make it DLC rather than covering the manufacturing costs of the discs?
Besides, I can honestly say that I didn't buy the original because I figured this was going to happen and while I will likely purchase it. I can definitely understand why people who bought the original feel ripped off.
I think Capcom should have put more time into the development and made Ultimate the original, if this is what they wanted it to look like. What's another 9 months?
@kaihedgie That's exactly why I see the whole disc release to be odd, considering the damage that those disasters caused and the amount of money it would take to repair their facilities. Besides, if this is indeed the reason, why not just be honest with the fans and say that DLC was coming but it would take longer because of the tsunami? Any fan with half a brain cell would have understood and waited patiently.
@con8bit Because the update UMVC3 is far too large for just a simple patch. What's happening here is not only just a facelift with the HUD, but this game is also offering new online modes which include Spectator, tweaks on all of the pre-existing characters and on top of that, adding twelve whole new ones as well
@kaihedgie I know the entire package is too big to be a single patch. I was saying that the features in this update should have been a series of separate DLC releases spread out over time. Although, I think the cosmetic changes are kind of pointless, as I dig the look of the original. But that's just me.

I certainly did wish they didn't cancel Legends 3,it was a pretty nice part of the megaman franchise. I think the reason why this was the final straw with fans because capcom said that they were going to provide this game with support. two character DLCs (that were already on the disc) and a whole bunch of shadow battles that no one cared about later, capcom announced MVC3 ULTIMATE EDITION.

@RandomDCE its actually a reverse thing when you think about it. While Capcom fans hate it when they release the same damn game again and again, Sega refuses to give fans the same damn game. Me, I personally enjoy the sonic games. Sonic 2006 was awful but after that, Sonic seems to be getting there with Unleashed, Sonic 4 and Colours.(the fairytale saga games are shit but they're spin off's).

@RandomDCE its probably because there was no internet around to bitch and moan about it. The idea of Capcon constantly re-releasing Street Fighter 2 with different tweaks was because there was no other way around this as there was no online service to provide DLC. Throughout the 90's Capcon exploited the hell out of this. Then came Xbox Live and Playstation Network to provide these services of updates and DLC, making things cheaper and simple. Capcon, refuses to go along with this trend.

@kaihedgie Its more to the point of how SOON it happened. Came out in February and after when people bought it, they announce a new version of the game coming out in November of the same year. At least with Street Fighter 4, they waited over a year before releasing the newer version. What more, it was Street Fighter. It's expected with said game, they hardly done this with any other game series and it kinda hurts fans that after waiting a decade, Capcon is pulling this bullshit on MVC3.

Besides, Capcom and Marvel are more concerned about fans of many of their franchises, not just their milked ones. It gets people familiar to play and read more than the stuff they already know and helps to expand fanbases
Shuma-Gorath is a veteran because he was in the previous game. When capcom announced him, People went "OH HEY, IT'S THAT TENTACLE RAPE MONSTER THAT WAS IN THE PREVIOUS MARVEL VS CAPCOM GAME! HOW NOSTALGIC!"

@MentalMyles When I mean Veteran, I mean way back, not just because he was from the previous game and I heard a lot more people go "Oh my god, Shuma's in this game! I loved him in Marvel Super Heroes/MSHVsST". Memories tend to resonate more fighting game wise in the 90s.
They didn't have a choice because as I've said plenty times before, there wasn't enough support for those games. How many people do you know actually gave a crap about Universe and what about the anti-3DS crowd?

@MentalMyles When you're doing crossovers, don't just think about the most popular franchises. I mean, if you want your X-men and Street Fighter-centric tastes, just go play X-Men Vs Street Fighter. The whole point of "Marvel Vs Capcom" is a clashing of Marvel and Capcom properties. This means any and every franchise is up for grabs. It's not just about Street Fighter (Ryu, Ken and Akuma), it's not just about Spider-Man (Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage), it's for EVERYONE.

Thing is, those you mentioned are collection games that are on different generations of consoles. Those things I can get behind because they're intended for those that used to play those games back in the day or if they missed out the first time or don't have that games console that the game played on
I sympathise with the MM Legends fans and I'm pissed about Megaman not being in this but I have a friend whose a Phoenix Wright fangirl, Firebrand looks fun to play as and whoever Rocket Racoon is I don't care what anyone says I can't wait to see what he can do!
Personally, I won't be buying UMVC3 or not until a much later period in time. Releasing two versions of the game in the same year was the most off-putting part for me, making me feel like I've spent $70 on beta testing. I don't care if other people are excited for the game for whatever reason they have, unlike BlackBusterCritic telling gamers that developers should be sucking their balls (the fucking arrogance of that statement), and people shouldn't support the release. To hell with him.

First, Trigger was kinda slow and you needed to change weapons all the time,
Second, I just can't imagine a moveset for X, again
Third, Zero is a protagonist in the X series and he has his own megaman series: Megaman zero, so him alone can be allowed in MVC3
Megaman X or any megamen would probably fit in Smash Bros, and I hope he appears in the upcoming Wii U smash bros and I would like zero to appear too, cause he is an interesting character

Why are capcom fans bitching megaman not in the game all the time, it really becomes annoying.
They say: "OMG! CAPCOM CANNCELED ML3 ANDZ BLAMEZED ON THE FANZ!!!!11!" Well, I've gone to the MML3 Developing forums and to be true.....It was quite empty.
And I think Zero is more suited than X, I can't imagine a moveset for X, only trigger and the original megaman, and in tatsunoko vs. capcom it was kind of boring to play as trigger.

I honestly don't unerstand the complaints with the original roster (except for Tron, Phoneix and Sentinel.)
I personally love it when crossover's have obscure charcater's. Hell, that was my biggest complaint about MKvsDCU, that they played it too safe with the charecters. (Even though I hated Dc at the time with a burning passion, as my first dc comic was countdown tto infinite crisis.)

They said it was because the tsunami & earthquake crippled their production schedule, buuuuuuuut then wouldn't it make more sense to release the DLC than go with a full retail release? Doesn't it take more production time and effort to make discs and ship them out than to charge for DLC?

@kaihedgie If they want to release this as a full retail title, that's fine. But I don't see why they're not also releasing it as DLC, since 12 new characters is effectively a DLC pack. Not only is it a courtesy to people who already bought the game, but it makes playing between those that bought the original and those that bought the new game much less problematic. I'm just saying if I bought the original game for $50 or something, I'm not going to pay another $40 for 12 more characters.

As far as the whole DLC thing goes, it definitely makes more sense, since fans can simply pick and choose which fighters, areas and features they want, rather than having to go out and buy another disc that makes the original disc that they paid $60 for about nine months prior completely useless (unless Game Stop would pay a fair price for it. As if).
As far as all of the old school re-releases are concerned, things have changed in the last 10-20 years. DLC replaces the need for them.

Besides, I can honestly say that I didn't buy the original because I figured this was going to happen and while I will likely purchase it. I can definitely understand why people who bought the original feel ripped off.
I think Capcom should have put more time into the development and made Ultimate the original, if this is what they wanted it to look like. What's another 9 months?

@kaihedgie That's exactly why I see the whole disc release to be odd, considering the damage that those disasters caused and the amount of money it would take to repair their facilities. Besides, if this is indeed the reason, why not just be honest with the fans and say that DLC was coming but it would take longer because of the tsunami? Any fan with half a brain cell would have understood and waited patiently.

@con8bit Because the update UMVC3 is far too large for just a simple patch. What's happening here is not only just a facelift with the HUD, but this game is also offering new online modes which include Spectator, tweaks on all of the pre-existing characters and on top of that, adding twelve whole new ones as well

@kaihedgie I know the entire package is too big to be a single patch. I was saying that the features in this update should have been a series of separate DLC releases spread out over time. Although, I think the cosmetic changes are kind of pointless, as I dig the look of the original. But that's just me.

@kaihedgie I can understand that and I don't hate them (as they've been may favorite developer since I was 5) and I'm really looking forward to Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Street Fighter X Tekken, the Resident Evil HD remakes (XBLA and PSN) Street Fighter III online and Layton Vs Ace Attorney (Layton is too popular for this not to be localized).
But I just don't care for some their decisions lately. Like this, MML3 being canned, RE Mercenaries save system Edgeworth2 not being brought.

'Cause Darkstalkers and Mega Man are the only 2 franchises I care about (Street Fighter literally has like, over 9000 version each of the same game, so I don't really bother much). All they gave Darkstalkers is upgrades. Which is fine, but when the hell is the next game? At least a 4th game won't be in a 4th Era like 2 years ago (with every game that has a 4 in it)

I don't see why so many people are complaining. I can understand being disappointed that Venom and Mega Man were snubbed, but they got quite a few people that fans were asking for. They got Doctor Strange, Phoenix Wright, Strider Hiryu, and Frank West! I can understand Rocket Racoon getting some dislike, but at least he will play different.

I certainly did wish they didn't cancel Legends 3,it was a pretty nice part of the megaman franchise. As for the whole UMVC3 thing; this pretty much lends credit to my theory that you NEVER buy a Capcom game when it first comes out;just wait for the almost inevitable re-releases,especially if it's a fighting game

rereleasing a game with 12 new characters in just 10 months when the characters should have been DLC in the first place. The whole excuse that they couldn't because of the tsunami destroyed everything, so instead they will release the game again, screwing loyal fans off that were excited about the game the first time.

I think the reason why this was the final straw with fans because capcom said that they were going to provide this game with support. two character DLCs (that were already on the disc) and a whole bunch of shadow battles that no one cared about later, capcom announced MVC3 ULTIMATE EDITION.

@RandomDCE its actually a reverse thing when you think about it. While Capcom fans hate it when they release the same damn game again and again, Sega refuses to give fans the same damn game. Me, I personally enjoy the sonic games. Sonic 2006 was awful but after that, Sonic seems to be getting there with Unleashed, Sonic 4 and Colours.(the fairytale saga games are shit but they're spin off's).
If your talking about how sonic fans bitch about EVERYTHING, I believe its more of a defence mechanism.

The idea of Capcon constantly re-releasing Street Fighter 2 with different tweaks was because there was no other way around this as there was no online service to provide DLC. Throughout the 90's Capcon exploited the hell out of this. Then came Xbox Live and Playstation Network to provide these services of updates and DLC, making things cheaper and simple. Capcon, refuses to go along with this trend.

@kaihedgie Its more to the point of how SOON it happened. Came out in February and after when people bought it, they announce a new version of the game coming out in November of the same year. At least with Street Fighter 4, they waited over a year before releasing the newer version. What more, it was Street Fighter. It's expected with said game, they hardly done this with any other game series and it kinda hurts fans that after waiting a decade, Capcon is pulling this bullshit on MVC3.

@MentalMyles When I mean Veteran, I mean way back, not just because he was from the previous game and I heard a lot more people go "Oh my god, Shuma's in this game! I loved him in Marvel Super Heroes/MSHVsST". Memories tend to resonate more fighting game wise in the 90s.
They didn't have a choice because as I've said plenty times before, there wasn't enough support for those games. How many people do you know actually gave a crap about Universe and what about the anti-3DS crowd?

The whole point of "Marvel Vs Capcom" is a clashing of Marvel and Capcom properties. This means any and every franchise is up for grabs. It's not just about Street Fighter (Ryu, Ken and Akuma), it's not just about Spider-Man (Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage), it's for EVERYONE.

Personally, I won't be buying UMVC3 or not until a much later period in time. Releasing two versions of the game in the same year was the most off-putting part for me, making me feel like I've spent $70 on beta testing. I don't care if other people are excited for the game for whatever reason they have, unlike BlackBusterCritic telling gamers that developers should be sucking their balls (the fucking arrogance of that statement), and people shouldn't support the release.
