  • pretty sweet, love that atmosphere

  • Does anyone know why they closed down?

  • fighting game thing fighting game that -_-

really there was WAYYY more then that going on in there ----________----

  • Henry Cen is starting up Next Level but the focus is more about fighting games rather than the whole arcade scene

  • I Hope that it resurface sin a new location. When I think about video games, I think about Chinatown Fair.

  • I visited Chinatown Fair when I was on vacation in NY a few weeks back, and I'm from Sweden :p Had a good time

  • This brings tears to my eyes, spent my childhood there. The last thing I could ever remember is I won the ipod touch off Lighthouse 6 days before closing. I guess that is my momento of my broken childhood

  • Ayee! What it is by Automattock :D

  • Wow, This is sad :(. Im going to miss this place for sure, used to play DDR,ITG2 here. Hopefully they can find a new place.

  • Don't worry everybody, the new arcade will be open within the month, but it won't be in Chinatown. Stay tuned to eventhubs or SRK for more information.

  • Damn. And to think I was going to come her for my first time this summer. It sucks ass. The east coast Arcade scene is pretty much non existent (I'm from Boston and our last two major Arcades closed down within the last 3 years) with this being the last major one that was around now gone. :( If only I could have actually been part of the community before it died.

  • I will miss that place. ;'(

  • Excellent video Seb! Arcades have always been a dying scene since the upcoming of the consoles.

  • Definitely will miss Chinatown Fair.

  • I was there a few times, years ago. I can't say I cared for the place much. It was too msall and I found it hard to really enjoy myself considering, well, I don't get out to arcades much. So whenever I did, I got my ass handed to me. Not my idea of a good time. I called the place the "broom closet." That said... It was an arcade. Losing any arcade hurts. So I'm torn. Really torn up. I didn't think I'd be sorry to see it go, really... But I am. God help me, I am.

  • 2:36 fail.

  • Passed by the joint today, and it was empty, the machines all hauled out. Sad day indeed, folks.

  • I started coming here around my Thanksgiving break last year, and I completely fell in love with this place. The competition was brutal, I loved the fact I got to socialize with so many people. In this day and age that we have AIM, Facebook, texting etc etc. it felt good and actually interact with people face to face and make new friends. It made me fall in love with fighting games even more. I for one will miss this place tremendously. My only regret was not going there earlier :(

  • akuma is sad chinatown fair is gone, lolz

  • Does anybody know if ctf is still up?

  • I really hope it doesn't close. I go down there for bubble tea and to kick ass at MVC3!

  • now that the beast arcade in the whole world now im going to save all my money & find every penny on the streets to buy a plane ticket to nyc and go toChinatown Fair b/c its way better & funner than comic-con

  • niggas at home... apparently they think human interaction is overrated.

We need more members for Team NAA (niggas @ arcades). =(

  • wow im speechless

cf was a second home to me when i was back in 94- through 2000. it will definatly be missed

  • damn thats sad :(

  • I wish I could go back in time and be a part of the CF arcade community. This is my lone regret as a gamer.

  • Lol I always walk past this arcade when I looking for something YGO related. Never knew how much history this place had and how much it meant for people. Now there will be less people hanging around =(

  • i like how when they talk about some people not getting along they put the camera on akumahokoru. i dont know, i think its kinda funny...

  • Move to queens or long island

  • This is too bad; I always planned on visiting this place if I ever went to New York. Hopefully by the time that happens it won't be too late.

  • all money going to microsoft

  • That shot of akuma's game over screen was perfect at the end

  • @helgenx shut up and get with the times Online gaming ))))))) Arcades

  • @ElectricSteve1 Yeah man, meeting people and making friends is a thing of the past. Just like how internet porn and cam chatting is better than a real girlfriend, too, right?

  • I am 27, and I been going to CF for over 18 years, since my parents used to take me here to play tic tac toe with the chicken. I will tell you, this is the place for youth in so many different types of communities, as well as adults. If you were a gamer, a goth, a hoodlum, a punk, a nerd, a geek, you would always have a friend here, no matter what type of person you were. This place was more powerful in the aspect that it brought people together, regardless of their differences.

  • @helgenx True words bro I actually found you on videos because I love the japanese culture and didn't know you came to CF until I added you on my ps3 lol and I was like you go to CF nice. I was 16 when I found CF now I am 19 turning 20 you could of been an alien and you would find friends lol I met alot of really good friends because of fighting games and found people that love japanese culture like myself. I am going to miss this spot Fare well CF BUBBLE TEA DUMPLING=CRACK OF CF. INSIDER PEACE!

  • @helgenx i agree, that's the cool thing about video games

  • @helgenx Damn Tic Tac Toe Machine -_- I always lose to the damn chicken

  • wow i'm actually in this video from the last day. Sad to hear it closing down....just when i started going there.

  • @RSXemperor arcades are dead nearly everywhere unless you live in japan or korea . It was bound to happen in to usa soon so take your head out of your fucking ass stoping crying like a little pussy you and the rest of these no life loser faggots and move on . Oh and what does ps3 / xbox have over arcades ? hmm i dont know maybe you can play whenever you want you dont have to sit next to some smelly tramp and wait your turn you dont have to travel spend money on food) internet gaming THE FUTURE

  • @ElectricSteve1 I'm not here on youtube trying to start no drama, but do you really mean what your saying?Sure theres assholes at arcades, but playing them in person is a better feeling than playing them online.Online, you get whiney 12 year olds, you beat them, they talk shit, beat someone at an arcade, you get that satisfaction of pissing them the fuck off, thats a feeling every gamer loves.Online gaming does have its perks, but overall many people, myself included, would rather play games at an arcade

  • @ElectricSteve1 your a faggot like everyone else .. online gaming is shit compared to arcades i played online ... been on xboxlive for years now and i would take an arcade over xbox live anyday! yet your sitting here being a internet gangster like your used to doing on xboxlive or psn

  • @Kuroki go tomorrow!

  • @NerdoYoshua

Thanks, I really want to support this place. Was planning on tomorrow, but I don't think weather would allow it. Thunderstorm possibly.

  • I want to visit this place this weekend. Can anyone confirm that it is still opened? I don't want to waste an hour long ride and train tickets to find out that it is closed.

  • for everyone who feels arcades are dead, quick question, what does ps3 and 360 have over any the arcades?

  • Anyone who's ever complained about the arcade experience usually probably never had a girlfriend and got stuck playing Counter-strike in their basements till they were 18 and had to get a job. Thats why all Counter-strike players are pale skinned and probably need counseling before they shoot up more schools.

  • One of the few things I miss about NYC that still remained. And now that's gone too, huh? Man, there are no arcades left. AND there's only the pizza to remind me of how awesome NYC was when I lived there. That's sad.

  • USA are now going to be more free

  • @valk4lfe i couldnt agree more arcades are a thing of the past online gaming is the way forward all these sad losers crying about CTF closing big deal so what , just get your ethernet cable plug it into your ps3 / xbox and you've got an experience way better then arcade ever could be

  • @ElectricSteve1 Sorry we actually like to go out unlike you faggot. We have something called FRIENDS. REAL PEOPLE. NOT FRIEND LISTS. YOU STUPID PIECE OF SHIT.

  • @ElectricSteve1 Wrong... You also probably never attended a tournament and did well.

  • West coast arcade kingdom Arcade Infinity. East coast arcade kingdom Chinatown Fair. BOTH are closing down... wtf is goin on?

  • that guy at the end looked like he was gonna cry lolol what a retarded pussy . The pig at 2.56 not only will you lose a place in your heart but hopefully you'll lose alot of that weight too you discusting dog

  • gotta put another STARBUCKS next to that mcdonalds is all... hopefully CTF will survive.

  • they are appealing the eviction because they did not receive a 60 day notice, it may survive. just believe and go out to support them.

  • why is it closing down?

  • @valk4life wow, you sound like you have some serious social issues, arcades aren't that bad.

  • @valk4life Arcades had a variety of games whereas you probably play CoD and take a break from that to play Halo or whatever other stupid space marine game there is. Also, douchebags like you got destroyed at arcades by people with real skill or no one would talk to you because you obviously got a problem with people. Yeah, arcades were social places. If you were antisocial, you stayed home anyway and played games by yourself in your underwear in the dark like you do now. Fuck off, loser.

  • Oh wow, such dedicated people. That must really suck for them especially since it's been around for so long to just possibly close out of no where. D;

  • Stupid online mode taking the magic of face to face play away!

  • @valk4life Seriously? We're sad it's closing because we can't buy crack? Now I've seen a lot of ignorance in my life but you take the cake as the most ignorant.I'm guessing you want the arcade to close down cuz you got threaten but one of those guys and you got scared.Making people mad was one of the best things about the arcade,if I beat someones ass and I see them mad,I slept with a smile waiting for the next day.Theres no fun online compared to the offline arcade

  • @valk4life The arcades are a social thing bro. Plus its more likely that GOOD matches happen because people are actually skilled. Plus no lag. Online is good but its rare that I find enjoyable players to play. And like I said you meet people and lots of these guys probably hang out on a regular basis.....

  • im going to NYC in april.... i dont even want to go anymore :L

  • I live in Scotland, and when I visited New York last year I made Chinatown Fair one of my top priorities. I waited outside it on a sunday for about an hour for it to open. I went in and played a shit tonne of games and got chatting to some locals. Chinatown Fair was more impressive to me than any of the traditional sightseeing attractions the city had to offer. Long live CTF.

  • @TheIdea should have just flown to japan instead and experienced a decent arcade instead. Who the fuck wants to go to some stuffy yanky arcade full of niggas and crack dealers. The only reason these faggots are upset it's closing is because they can't buy their crack from the premises anymore

  • @valk4life Wow what the fuck happened to you?

  • If you can make it in New York, then you can make it anywhere. But if you can NOT make it in New York, I guess you can NOT make it anywhere.

Just how big is Chinatown Fair for the NY SF scene? Is this such a major blow that it will be hard to compete with the West Coast?

Arcades all over Earth are going bankrupt just like Chinatown Fair. I blame the internet.

  • =(

  • West Coast here...my heart goes out to CF. Keep the dream alive, East Coast!

  • I took my first trip to NYC and my friend brought me here. Played a few games of SFIV and people were really nice and cool. Glad I got to go here at least once.

  • Man that's unfortunate. I had plans to visit CTF when I am going to be in the area.

    Great video.

  • great video. Go HENRY!

  • I hope it doesn't close I've been going there since I was like 12.

  • I hope they move to Brooklyn. But if they do it won't even keep the name Chinatown Fair. That name is legendary.

  • sad to see a big part of the east coast scene dieing. first guard crush and now this.....damn

  • I came to CF last year as I was coming back from looking at colleges. At the time I hadn't really played fighting games aside from a few sessions of 3S with a friend but my dad was cool enough to swing by NYC and take me there around midnight and I played until 2am on SF4 and 3S. After leaving the arcade I felt as if that was where I belonged, something just felt right about the arcade. I hopped across the street and got Chinese with my dad before we left and it was godlike. CF got me into FG's.

  • Spooky looks like the Penguin out of the Batman Returns movie

  • the best places and funnest places get shut down thats just terrible... ps 2:03 new york's theme park lights lol XD

  • @vakaholic There are a lot of memories in this place, if you never step foot here. You would just say oh it's just another place for fighting games. EVERYONE THERE HAD SKILL! If you could beat the guy next to you in Third Strike The Other Dude behind you would take you to school in Blazeblue. And the people there are amazing and aren't Cocky like most of the new generation of The Fighting game community. Chinatown Fair was and forever more will be the place to be!

  • @vakaholic Fuck you dude, get outside and make social ties. Meet people, hell other people that SHARE A COMMON INTEREST... You obviously have no friends if you troll YouTube all day.

You probably play something gay anyways like Super Smash Bros or CoD. When you want some hype hit the scene, you might learn something/like it.

  • Comment removed

  • @vakaholic It doesnt matter if it's relocating,it doesnt matter if its just an arcade. This place has alot of memories for alot of people, myself included. This place has history for alot of people. If this place closes or moves,it wont be the same. The sheer amount of memories this place has in my heart alone is enough to upset me,and I know thousands of other people feel the same way.

  • It truely is a tragedy that this place even MIGHT close down.

  • I was looking into this and one of the managers (Valentino Ventura) stated that it's not closing down but if they don't settle a dispute with the landlord that they'll move. I'm sure that a move would ruin some memories but at least it isn't closing down. Search Google News, you'll find my sources.

  • is there any way it wont close down? am sad 4real

  • Every age comes to an end but from its ashes a new age begins. Respect to Henry's last statement.

  • I'm so intimidated by the arcade fighting scene. I love street fighter, but I seriously can't imagine playing with serious pros lol

  • @FIGHTFANNERD3 You need to shut the fuck up and DIAF. How are these people not grown up? Most of the people in this video are over 20 years old. You wouldn't know shit about how it feels to love and arcade and be a part of a scene that you love because you sit at home playing online only thinking you are hot shit but you are just pure pringles and are most likely rage quiting left and right online scrub.

  • @Qweets Insult of the day XD

  • @FIGHTFANNERD3 Fuck off.

  • So dumb. They've got all the new shit (even custom Marvel 3 stations), all the old games you'd want to play, bringing new people and tourist in left and right along with regulars that got their foot in the community there... just for this. Hopefully something good comes out of this.

  • Puzzle Fighter FTW

  • This is so serious, years full of great times and great people man. Steve totally lookes like he was gonna cry!

  • Isn't that blonde dood that puzzle guy from ultimate gamer?

  • damn im from norcal and i dont even go to arcades but this makes me so sad

    bruh like actually

  • @yrsmilekillsme

Haha foreals. Cant find anymore arcades up in norcal.

  • Who's the guy @ 0:12 2:30 2:45 3:08 and 3:27?

  • @ggxxslash megaman steve lol are you his new fan?

  • @monkeypower

No, I just never saw him before.

  • I truly will miss this place. I visit New York during the summer to see my family and the first thing i really wanna do when I get off the plane is get in a cab and go to CTF. It truly is one of those placed you fall in love with if you are a gamer. Maybe a good prayer would be necessary for it to stay open just a little while longer.

  • If you guys really liked this place so much and supported it then it wouldn't have to close down,

  • @SideshowBob44 Fuck you dude... What more could people do then pump THOUSANDS of quarters into those machines?!

  • @Huitzel Then why is it closing down?

  • @SideshowBob44 If you knew how to read you'd know that the LANDLORD is LOSING the property and all the land, its not anyone who owns CF or anyone who goes theres fault... Fuck dude... Try and keep up okay?

  • @SideshowBob44 go watch the archives on the team spooky justin tv channel Henry tells all the details of why cf is closing.

  • If they relocate that'll probably be better. Most of the people that go there smell like ass. If people enjoyed taking showers more I would have liked the place more. Like I know people are gonna flame me, I like Chinatown Fair, but it looks like a dump. If they relocate to a dif place that's better cuz it'll be a change of scenery and the culture will still stay alive. Just my main complaint is that people need to learn to shower.

  • @xxmuraxx you do realize that it's not well ventilated, it's always packed w/ people wearing their coats & worst of all there is all those emo/goth kids playing DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION right next to the damn TEKKEN Machines. I don't know if you're from NY or just visited, but the look of it kind of added to the coolness of the place. It wasn't that overly glitzy tourist trap on 42nd street that shut down after a couple of months or dare I say it:..........Dave & Buster's! BTW, FUCK D&B's!

  • @kakuichi nah man I'm from NY, and all the stuff you stated is exactly why they should relocate to a place with better ventilation. Like I said, I like chinatown fair, and it's definitely a cool place, they have like every arcade game you could want to play, but smelly emo goth kids that don't believe in showers are not cool. I definitely agree that it shouldn't be a glitzy tourist trap either, but better smell and less grime would be a plus!

  • @xxmuraxx yea, of course. Honestly, that was one of the main reasons I stopped going there for a while. But, it's really a shame because I could remember when times square had like 3-5 regular arcade rooms, but they all got phased out thanks to the "cleaning up" of the area.

I had to say goodbye to the porn stores, arcades & all the other cool relaxing grimy NY shit to f'n toy stores w/ carnival rides, ridiculously overpriced dave & buster's games complete w/ a-hole security guards! CF, L8r!

  • hey... it's RELOCATING not CLOSING.

  • people know that they are moving not closing right?

  • I think that chinatown fair should relocate more toward in the middle of the city. This would help them have more traffic of people then canal and have more arcade; especially SSF4 AE and Marvel vs Capcom 3 =D.... Dante, Captain A, and Wesker!!! This is a hot game!!

  • Damn, I've remembered when playland on 42nd st closed. This hurts just as bad now

  • sucks it's closing down.

loving the AutoMattock track in the backround, though.

  • nerdjosh making me QQ with the comment about pieces of childhood disappearing

  • 3:25 That fade to black with Akuma collapsing....

    who's cutting onions in here?

  • I was playing ranked matches on MvC3 a couple of days ago and ran into MegamanSteve. I though "oh damn I already lost" but I managed to pull a lucky win. After that I thought "Maybe when I'm done with school I can move to NY and up my game." I hope they relocate cause this is really sad.

  • Deadass,I wanted to cry when i heard chinatown was closing down!new york aint gonna be the same anymore.

  • This gave me goosebumps, so sad.

  • :35 New York Educated Grammar at it's best =) FRAYYY!!!

  • I really doubt it's one of "the main tourist attractions in New York City."

  • omg i want to visit this place I'm from New York I live in Brooklyn lol I know where Canal street is I just want to come visit this place

  • This is pretty sad man.

  • @llz22 Cool story, bro.

  • @llz22 You just don't know jack shit, the fucking landlord isn't paying dues and is losing the land, its not CF's fault. Go fuck yourself.

  • @llz22 you're a fucking dumbass

  • @llz22 If it's apparently so easy to finance something like this then why don't you do it? I've seen a lot of ignorant people comment on youtube, but you take the cake. Fucking dumbass.

  • good stuff

  • I hope they relocate somewhere in Queens. :O

  • Seb.. I saw you filming on the Spooky stream yesterday, and to see this on your youtube channel the next day.. Damn! I am really impressed on what you put together! Mad props!

  • It's not closing.

  • Ode to Henry Cen's career.

  • @viraltastic how u figure ?

  • Long life to CF its never gonna end for sure.

  • It's not closing due to money. It's closing cus the owner of the building decided to evict them for some reason or another.

  • Visiting Chinatown Fair was one of those things I wanted to do at least once in my life. Even though I am fairly new to fighting games (about 3 years) I have really comes to love the culture of it and it was a dream for me to one day go here were the culture exploded and still lives on to this very day.

To think that this place will be no more is heartbreaking in so many levels.

  • @darkzack same here man, me and my friends were talking about going on a trip to new york just to go there... guess that wont happen :/

  • that's unfortunate guys, sorry to hear that. Now YOU know how it feels to be in europe...

  • what if people started a fundraiser to help with the rent? i know mad dudes would support that movement.

  • Chinatown is where I got my start. Sad to see it may be closing. So many players started on Mott St.

    :-(

  • great editing seb!

  • I've heard a lot of talk, and it seems like they're planning to relocate.

  • If its so popular why is it closing? Maybe just sell the less popular cabinets? I dunno I guess im no expert.

  • @lukesama

Lol They're NOT closing because of bankruptcy. The owner of the arcade lost his lease. Basically he doesn't have ownership of the venue/land the arcade rests on anymore.

  • Comment removed

  • Seb did you have to plant those people next to BBCS? :p

  • ARTURO SANCHEZ!!!!!!!!!!

  • a cabinet costs like what... few thousands? how much money does a cabinet bring in a day? curious.

  • @chipieb0i107

last night stream they said the ssf4 upgrade boards were almost 20K

  • @chipieb0i107 well its about 4-5 minutes per match counting, putting you dollar in, sitting down, picking your char et loading. so about $20/hour. The busy hours where the machines are being played non stop are from 4PM to about 9-10PM. So $20*6=$120 on average per day per machine. Not every day is busy but wed-sat nights are busy.

  • its sad :( they should have a fundraiser.

  • It's not good =/ at least you guys had an arcade to meet people. There's absolutely nowhere in my town.

Better to have loved and lost than to have never have loved at all eh?

  • Wait what they are going to close Chinatown fair oh no

  • Sad day.

    I hope it stays alive.

  • Aw man this is sad as shit. Hey Spooky and NerdJosh if you see this. I'm ShotgunJesus, watch your streams regularly, love you guys, keep it up.
