  • ALL TRUE. all true.

  • I love this. I grew up in Pittsburgh and remember the BIcentennial celebration well. My Dad worked for an engineering firm that worked on the moving mechanism for the Civic Arena. Now my daughter, who grew up all over the country, lives in Bloomfield and loves it.

  • Dear America,

    You're welcome! Love, Pittsburgh

  • thats insane! i love pittsburgh..never wanna leave :)

  • latrobe and uniontown is part of the pittsburgh metro area...thats why those inventions hold salt. to say latrobe and uniontown arent 'pittsburgh' is like saying brooklyn or long island isnt 'new york city'. metro areas count more than city proper people....geesh. altho to be honest...uniontown and latrobe is sorta pushin the boundaries lolol

  • The first posion control center was developed in Pittsburgh by a Pharmacist in a small hospital.

  • But, where are, " Yun's Guys"?

  • wow i idid not no all of that

  • i'm from n.c. and i can buy beer at the grocery store and the gas station.

  • Wow congratulations. Thanks to us, we invented the first gas station and grocery store. Also the highways that took you there, also the jeep that you rode on that highway. The aluminum can that the beer is in was invented in Pittsburgh...I could go on and on!!!

  • the turpike was invented in pittsburgh.

  • Dear Mr. Trucker : I am sorry that you lost a mirror, but it could have happened in any city. Don't blame our great city. I believe they call your disorder "displaced aggression".

  • stay classy, pittsburgh

  • They forgot Bret Michel of Poison : ) Poison are from Pittsburgh : )

  • they need to change "steelers became the first team to win 4 super bowls" to 6!!!!

  • I was born & raised in Pittsburgh in whats now known as the North Shore area. Lived somewhere else for 23 yrs & finally moved back home 3 yrs ago .. LOVE this city

  • Pittsburgh may be great for tourism, but it's not fit for semis. Thanks to the jerkoffs with the crowned roads and leaning power poles, I lost my right side mirror on sr 51. Either you Pittsburghians need to make room for trucks to get around or quit bringing us into your crazy city.

  • haha.. some roads r crazy

  • i was born and raised in pittsburgh...i woudlnt live no were else

  • That makes 2 of us. I'm a true blue Pittsburgh boy.

  • @Ilovemibaby99

You can tell you're from Pittsburgh, you're grammar tells all. ( I wouldn't live no were else ) I'll allow for your misgivings, I'm betting you listen to Terry Bradshaw a lot because he talks like that ! lol

  • I would just like to say on behalf of all picksburghers "Yinz are welcome world"

  • An excellent tribute to my hometown! As much about our city as you can fit into such a short time period. There are many more books and things you can use to get deeper into our labor history, which is phenomonal. This was a great all around look at the whole city and its accomplishments. Makes me proud to live here.

  • A guy from Uniontown invented the Big Mac.

  • The guy that started the Big Mac was from Uniontown.

  • I am pretty sure ain't originated here too...

    I love Pittsburgh! :-)

  • Our pride in our city is evident, particularly with our Steelers and Penquins. Now - let's use it to "red her up" and respect her. Stop littering!!! We are too classy for that!!

  • Pretty Cool!

  • Proud to be a Yinzer as well !!!

  • I have lived from Manhattan to San Francisco and all parts in between, one thing I can say without hesitation is... Pittsburgh is Americas Best Kept Secret and most livable city. If you haven't been to Pittsburgh don't wait, don't hesitate come today you may find yourself calling Pittsburgh home.

  • wow i live in Pittsburgh it has changed and not much to say but i love it lol

  • I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, I live in Pa but I'm going home to Pittsburgh in the year 2012 and I can't wait to go home!!!!!!!!!!!

    I love you Pittsburgh!!

  • This guy forgot to mention the 3 inclines. The Mongahela and Duquesne Incline as well as the Johnstown inclines, the onliny inclines I know of.

  • Go and search Pittsburgh Fireworks and search for 250th birthday fireworks! I have never seen such a display and I watched it online! I had to work that day!:(

  • I am so proud of Pittsburgh and yes! We do rock!!!!!!!!!!

  • you rock PITTSBURGH!! I always knew thats why I moved here!

  • Pittsburgh ROCKS...what a cool gritty place!

  • i love this city with all my heart!

  • Pittsburghs my place...even though I'm in NY =)

  • Pgh. 250 yrs. CORRECTION: I live in Latrobe, PA. video says, Pgh was first to create banana splits, WRONG,the banana split was the creation of Mr. Strickler of Strickler's drugstore in Latrobe. Pgh. was NOT the birthplace of national football, Latrobe is the birthplace of national football with the first paid player. Steelers still practice in July at St. Vincent's College. Go Steelers.

  • WOOO PITTSBURGH!!! im glad i was born and raised there. i currently live in germany but when i leave here where do you think im going? yeah back to pittsburgh! GO 'STILLERS'

  • Holy crap he said Carnegie right!!

  • wrong he said it wrong it pronahnced CAR-Ney-Gee, n'at

  • yenz is quite the inovationers. busted the cartridge in my knee then had it fixed in pixsburgh.

  • They forgot that Pittsburgh Fire Bureau Is Local #1 where fire unions all started!!!

  • Thats true! Pittsburgh I.A.F.F. #1 and Chicago is #2.

  • That's very informative. I didn't know that's why they called it da'burgh

  • WOW! Pittsburgh is FULL of incredible and amazing important American history!! More than I knew!

  • hahaha

pittsburgh steelers are beating the browns

im watching the game right now

its 10 to 0 right now

    GO STEELERS

oh yeah and i luv pittsburgh

i grew up there but then i moved to florida and now im in the middle of nowhere IN

so yeah i wish i could go back

  • I don't care about the Steelers or the Penguins and I live in Pittsburgh.

  • is guess that explains your name

  • Cool I am proud !

  • Great video, very interesting.

And it is nice to hear someone who knows how to pronounce "Carnegie" correctly!

  • dahn ere in da burgh we make the best steel on earth n'at

  • ahh Pittsburgh, how i love thee! :)

  • He forgot to mention about all the yinzers that live here.

  • ITS THE BURGH THING GO STEELERS PHIL C

  • All interesting facts but the Jeep was created in Butler by Bantam Motors and Drake's well is in Oil City. Neither is even remotely part of da Burgh. Anyway, lots of reasons I moved away and will never return - weather, people, dirt, gangs, etc

  • Kludge must be from Cleveland, or Rio Linda. What Mr. Masich said was that Jeep and the oil refining process were both invented by someone from Pittsburgh. He made no claim about the Jeep being made there, or oil refined there.

Try to keep up. Maybe you felt intimidated and had to leave DA BURGH!

  • yeah man !

  • Kludge you are a moron, you left America's "Most Livable City" lol. You must be from Cleveland or something.

  • WE don't need you in our City ANYWAY

  • Yuns rock N@

  • Loved it all, except the fact that Westinghouse was given credit for the lighting of the World's Fair, with no mention of Nikola Tesla and his Alternating Current who made it all possible! Congratulations, Pittsburgh.

I loved playing my clarinet on the field with hundreds of specially selected high school band members from all area schools for your 200th Anniversary, our Bicentennial Celebration. Also still have my "Chappy" badge noting the same! Pittsburgh Forever!

  • That's quite an impressive resume; we have much to be proud of!

  • This is why Pittsburgh, PA is the best city in America! I am tearing up. We rock!

  • Although I only moved here from Upstate NY, seven and a half years ago, I can honestly say that I love it here -- with the exception of how people drive, that is! Making imaginary lines in the streets of Brookline do not make for a two-lane street, but other than that, it's been great watching the Steelers play, visiting all of the museums, checking out all of the great restaurants and making a lot of friends! Oh -- by the way, it's time to red-up for dinner. J'eat Jet? ;-)

  • beer we go steelers beer we go!!!!

  • History of Pittsburgh? What a farce. There is only one passing mention of Pittsburgh's incredible labor history. Don't workers and their families count? For an inclusive and highly readable history see "The Point of Pittsburgh" by local historian Charles McCollester, to be published on September 13th. It's magnificent.

  • Let me guess; you are in a union, right? This video is praising Pittsburgh's accomplishments and you want them to mention the Homestead strike? Get real.

  • It's astounding the History Center has just one passing reference to workers and labor history, an integral part of any history of our great city.

Missing: the bloody 1892 Homestead strike or the many struggles that brought a decent living to workers and their families.

The AFL, CIO and AFL-CIO were born here.

To better understand our true history see "The Point of Pittsurgh," a magnificent book by Charles McCollester, being released September 13th.

    Interesting facts, incomplete history.

  • Don't be a twit! It's astounding you've found but a single reference to Pittsburgh's labor history in the museum! Where do you live -- Philadelphia?!

  • Here we go Steelers here we go!!!

  • Great! Much information I did not know as a Pittsburgh native.

  • another vote for the Klondike ..

  • Pittsburgh is a great place to live...too bad the rest of you can't be here!! Kudos to Pittsburgh!!

  • Most significant first my vote is the Klondike

  • Same here, I grew up there, and didn't know most of that!

  • Awesome place to be, but darn glad I moved to Colorado.

  • Westinghouse did not create the first lightbulb with A/C current, Nikola Tesla did! He stole it from Tesla and never paid him the $10,000 he promised.

  • Ya'll got your birthday present early when the NFL gave you your last Superbowl win. Gave, as in "not earned".

  • LOL! I'm still reaping the benefits of that victory (*). The asterisk represents a single tear, one of billions shed in Seattle.

Oh well, thanks for giving Franco a chance when he was washed up. That was nice of you guys.

  • Seattle Whine: Made from the finest sour grapes, poor special teams, horrid clock management, one crushing interception and tears. Vintage 2006.

    GO STEELERS!

  • I wonder if the seattle fans will ever stop crying.

I think I'll just put that trophy with the other five. Thanks

  • No Seattle was owned!

  • It has an H like Edinboro?

  • Edinburgh Scotland

  • no, like Edinburgh, UK

  • Holy Crap...I have lived here all my life and did not know some of this stuff.

  • Pittsburgh is an awesome place to live!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always knew Pittsburgh was an awsome place to live!!

  • Great video! I didn't know Pittsburgh was the birthplace for so many inventions.
