Actually, that's not true. Many of the things MacFarlane depicts in his comedy are things he enjoys or endorces. Two good examples: he opposes any violence or intolerance towards gays, yet we have many Family Guy episodes depicting these issues in a sort of 'bad' manner. Also, his cousin suffers from AIDS, and because of that we see many themes jokes regarding this infamous disease. Not to mention all of the Simpsons and South Park jokes which is actually him showing admiration for the shows...
