dave may bring kurt back to life through his music. he should know the condition are econemys in. so meny broken hearts so meny people suffering they need something to latch on to. maybe one day it wil happen
for those of you who feel like Kris should be in FF, i'm not sure it would effect Pat as much, but Dave? Kris and Dave are still great friends, but can you imagine how heavily that dynamic would weigh on the band? Dave and FF have grown over the years, and to throw Kris into that boat, having to work in this already tried and true monster of a band that Dave oversees? i don't see it. But in a new band?? Hmmmmmm......... now THAT would be something to see...
This song means so much to me. My mom is an ex-alcoholic and she was very suicidal in those years. I remember thinking everyday I came from school that I hope my mom isn't dead. This happened when I was 4-15 years old. I'm 18 now but it left a mark on me that is never going to fade away. It still irritades me 'cause she found jesus and all but doesn't really understand what I had to go through as a kid.
I think to myself... and realize that it's true... so much to know about the human mind than we know. Krist playing the bass for that song... makes a difference. If we can't accept the most simple things, we get nowhere and it means something for Krist to be playing bass. I'm like a cat: half into how people are today and half out... trying... TRYING to GET real. I HAVE To get up... and fucking sleep.
Why do people keep on having to bring up Kurt Cobain when it comes to their songs? "Oh, I think this song is about Kurt!"
The guy died 17 years ago, and yeah it's great he lives on in peoples minds, but doesn't mean all the songs Dave Grohl write are about him. Next people will be saying that Them Crooked Vultures Spinning in the Daffodils is about Kurt.
Move on with your lives people, love the music they do now and appreciate what came before, but realise that things have changed!
@tattoodfreeek This song is actually about kurt though. Dave had been planning to finish this song for years but said he found it too upsetting because he really 'should have known' something was going to go wrong. I do see your point about fans saying every song is about him and it gets annoying, but this time its true. Seriously dude check out the recent interviews
@Libertinedreamful And where in my original comment did I say it isn't??
Every time they release a more thoughtful song it's gotta be about Cobain! It's like saying that every song that Paul McCartney wrote after John Lennon was shot was about him! But they don't! Yeah, Cobain was a huge influence on music, but I think that it's come on far beyond his contribution! Yeah this song was, but why make such a big deal about it?????
@tattoodfreeek the comment just comes across as dismissive that was all. I dont know why they always mention it, maybe fans are still looking for answers or believing they can recover something that could reveal why he threw it all away. Truth is we'll never know and we should appreciate the band for being there in the first place.
@Libertinedreamful See, unless Kurt Cobain himself comes back from the dead and says why he did it, then no one will ever know!
And yeah, we should appreciate the band, if it wasn't for Nirvana I wouldn't have started listening to anything other than popular shit! But I find the fact that people and so called fans still go on about Nirvana when talking about Foo Fighters somewhat disrespectful to what they have achieved regardless of Nirvana
I don't think this about Kurt, I think it's about a friendship they once had, or maybe it might be about Nirvana ending.
That's my two cents, but I don't think it's neither, just a thought that pops in my head when I hear it. Also, the song itself is fantastic, the bass as a really fierce punch in the bridge.
good to see novoselic coming back to old times with dave and pat. hes such a stand out bassist, and the volume raise at the end of the song really brings out what he has that nate doesn't. But to people who are saying novoselic is better than nate, i wouldn't go that far..
@ShadowgownGaming Of course not you silly xD I was just trying to say something stupid and funny, I never desliked a vid, if I dont like something I wont watch it , and I pressed "like" on this vid a million times xD
I think it's ridiculous that people STILL say Dave got his career off the back of Nirvana. They are two entirely separate bands with one thing in common... Dave. Can we all please respect Kurt's death and not use it as a way to argue about Foo Fighters any more? This shit is petty.
Also, yeah Nate wrote the bass part for this so people saying he should be put out of the band are absolute idiots. Krist is incredible but so is Nate.
Krist is awesome and has a damn big bass sound but if he were in the foo fighters there would be too much distortion. They alredy have 3 guitarist and I think that it would be a little blury if you'd add that bass sound there in my oppinion. But Krist in this song.. pure awesomeness!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
sounds soft and CRAP sorry kurt cobain is dead but he was mayor badass this is just fluffy crap dave...nice though you got a selling boost because of your nirvan carreer....i know ouch trueth hurts..
@bustsomecaps you know what else hurts? People who talk shit, but can't spell and still use caps to emphasize a point. Sorry that not all musicians decide to keep doing the same thing over and over. Soft? You obviously haven't heard the rest of the album. White Limo rocks hard enough to blow your tiny balls out of your sack. Have a wonderful day!
your right, Dave Grohl was in 'nirvan' and that did greatly help Foo Fghters but I don't really see what your trying to prove by saying that the 'trueth hurts' your insulting for being in one of the biggest bands in the world and paying respect to the man that started his career
please... WANT KRIST ON FOO.. cuz Nate SUCKS!!! he plays bass really calmy and booring.. Krist puts a really deep, funky and heavy bass sound on all the songs in the plays in it. Cheers from Mexico.
people laughed at me when i said my bands is gonna record on cassette, but i was really surprised on how good the quality was.when your in a band you do what ever you can to survive and get your music out there. I respect dave and foo fighters decision to do analog recording, just shows you can make a big impact and still keep things basic
The part where the bass comes I get a feeling which I rarely get listening to new music but this is absolutely the most badass CD for a very long time and I would hope that more young bands started record their music on tape not autotune
2:53. Krist's bass coming in strong- ff could always have needed/used it. I love it. No offense to Nate. But that was sweet and for like 30 seconds or so you could hear the true badass-ery of 20 years ago.
At first it was a great Foo Fighters track, then it got to that part and I was in the early 90's a little all of a sudden.
Foo Fighters would be even better than what they are now had Krist been there from the start with his bass, but then it would have pretty much been a second Nirvana, and that would at the same time suck for so many different reasons.
@DaveGrohled Grohl can never admit he dances around the Cobain legacy thru the whole Foo Fighters career. ie. Butch Vig and Krist being on this song. He's torn, he'd never have this chance without that fateful phone call by one Buzz Osborne. It's all just questions in the end, enjoy the music.
The first FF song that actually conveys strong feelings in years...
