This is the absolute first appearance of this song; and Aaron kinda wrote it on the spot. Show some respect, cause historically, it's Fred Durst's name that gave the song the required exposure
such an amazing song ,verry good lyrics , great music, just beautiful man really , verry nice voice 2 , it's been brought with powe emoticon , it's just so good , grtz from belgium
no dislikes. now thats good music. if you ever come across a song wtith no dislikes.. thats a good song. regardless. like this is you like REAL MUSIC!!! see how many people like true music instead of gay pop and rap
I like this rendition of "Outside" WAY better than the studio version on "Break The Cycle." This still wouldn't compel me to buy any tickets for any FVT shows. I am NOT & NEVER will be a Fred Durst or Limp Bizkit fan. I might go see a Staind show at my state's fair provided FD isn't at that show.
What if Staind joined OzzFest in 1999 instead of the FVT which will ALWAYS take a backseat to OzzFest? There is NO major rock fest bigger than OzzFest. Absolutely NONE & Fred Durst knows it!!
I prefer this version most of all. You hear such Raw, emotional Power from his voice here. In the Studio version, He just sounds dull. It's like in the Studio version, they put the power into the Guitar. This version, best of all.
i have never care about durst words... y know... it's part of a live song... unexpected changes.... maybe his comment wasnt the most smart thing to say at that moment but who cares?? i still love the song... and this is the best live version of this song in my opinion.. peace bro's let the hate creep somewhere else
I got to see the family value tour in 1999 in pittsburgh pa at the civic arena and i will honestly say that it was the best show i have ever been too.
man.. I aint the grammar police or anything but pls..when you wanna post something..make it easy for heads to be able to read. A full stop here n there or at least a google on a word that you are not sure of spelling would make others bother to actualy read through properly of what you said, instead of doing what i did and giving up after a 19 jummbled words. peace if you're liking this vid tho man n good vibes..on the whole.
@Yunecronical I believe so. I think that was the last stop on that tour and his first time playing it live. One of my first, and probably favorite concert I've been to so far. It's just to bad system of a down didn't get to play though.
Durst is such a small part of this song yet there are always people pissing and moaning and whining about him. He doesn't ruin anything. I'm not saying this as a fan of Freds... I could care less if people do or don't like him, but there's no reason for all of the negativity towards him in this tune. (none that I can see/hear).
@Lynchstah People piss and moan about it because he IS a small part of the song yet he tries to soak up the limelight. He should have just kept his mouth shut and showed some humility and just let Aaron do his thing.
@Lynchstah I am not a fan of Limp Bizkit, frankly I've always felt Durst was kind of a douchebag. But I do prefer this version of the song, with is backup vocals. For that matter, I'm not a big fan of Staind, though they have some great acoustic songs, much like Godsmack.
@Waderman117 lol dude, it's a romantic notion and all but notice the background; it's break the cycle cover - this tune, outside, was on that record. =)
@ifneeed I think you're confused.... Aaron wrote this song while in the band "J-CAT" but it had different lyrics. Then on this performance he used the chorus and possibly some parts of the verses, but the rest he came up with on the spot.. Break the Cycle was released in 2001, a year after this song was released on the Family Values Tour CD (2000), and 2 years after this performance (1999).
@ifneeed and if i were wrong explain how the song Waste, a song about a boy that hung himself TO the song Outside, is on the same album as Outside itself?
@Lynchstah IMO, Durst is non-existant in this version. The whole reason i even listen to this version is due to the feeling Aaron puts into this version. I am a fan of Limp Bizkit and have no problem saying this. The MINOR role Fred has in this song pales to the raw emotion of this song
@Guinters I get the same way from the song "Where did you sleep last night" live by Nirvana. The last 2 lines or so are so raw and emotional, i cant help but have a shudder run up my spine every time i listen to it
Story I heard was, Aaron was not ready to perform the song live yet. Fred Durst was telling him that he should do it. Fred basically said "Come on brother, I will go out there with you, lets go!" He was being a good friend, Fred Durst style. Dont quote me on any of this, but its what I can remember from when it first came out.
You know, I'm not a Staind fan. I never really liked the "numetal" thing circa 2000. But this song really sticks with you. I actually believe the singer means what he is singing, or at least he did at the time... which is a rare feat in contemporary music. So I'll give him props for that.
But why, WHY, did he let Fred Durst participate in this song? My god, when Durst started chirping, he should have stood up and smacked him in the face with his guitar. Durst is such a sychophantic leech.
It seems like yesterday but it's about 11 years ago when happened that. The bands like this one are the best we can remember with years. They are writing the music's history even if they 're not recognized as they have to. I hope you still doing the same favour for us. Thank you so much for this kind of music n' live Morocco y la puta leche k nos dan d mamar.
Is the tuning of his guitar normal and what chords exactly is he using?
