So true. The latest statistics on Divorce are around 44 percent in the UK and 51 percent in the US. Compare that to the 1950s where Divorce was around 8 percent. It is correct its the pressures on marriage mainly financial that make it unworkable. Love itself is of course unnaffected.

There are alot of reasons for divorce, but I really believe that many women back in the day stayed around for survival purposes, those who wanted to leave and couldn't becasue they were being taken care of by their husbands. Have you noticed for the last 40-50 years, there has been a gradual breakdown of the family unit. I believe this is systematic and has been done on purpose. It is a moral decay in society, right before our eyes. My father could afford to work, keep my mother at home, have kids, pay a mortgage (pay it off), have a car, and still save money for annual vacations. Those days are gone (for the average family living on one income).

Your right, divorce is a plague. Yes, financial pressure is a contributing factor but I believe the main cause of divorce is people do not know how to be good at being married. The divorce rate in the USA is almost 50%, think about that the next time your out and about. One out of ever two people you meet or see has been impacted by divorce. What if you both did both? The man of today isn't necessarlilly inept at domestic chores. I can cook, clean, do the laundry, iron and have worked with kids and for some reason children always like me (I'm a big kid myself). Our society grew into 2 income households after WW2. During WW2 women were the main work force. The prices of everything just slowly went up so that 2 median incomes were needed just to keep pace. Religion also kept people together and overtime had less influence to do so. Devorce became acceptable and common. Stress levels of a two income household, kids and adults who had to have everything instead of just being happy living within their means. Welcome to the new Corperate America lol.

I like you Samaurrii, but i have to disagree with you here. In my opinioin a wife should ALWAYS be willing work and take care of the kids as well. Its 50/50. Thats all part of being a wife(and adult for that matter). Not doing so shows a sign of weakness. What if something happens to your husband? You would have no choice but to do both. I have no problem with taking care of my wife and children, but i do have a problem with my wife not feeling the same way. You cant avoid struggle, thats LIFE.
I would also add that there is nothing that prevents the woman who stays home to work from home... so the idea that both couples have to work to support the family shouldn't be a big issue so long the couples don't have an appetite for luxury that extends beyond their financial capabilities and so long as the wife exercises the option of working from home.

So true. The latest statistics on Divorce are around 44 percent in the UK and 51 percent in the US. Compare that to the 1950s where Divorce was around 8 percent. It is correct its the pressures on marriage mainly financial that make it unworkable. Love itself is of course unnaffected.

I don't know if you believe in God or not, but if you trust Him, He provides for your needs, including having a spouse and kids.

There are alot of reasons for divorce, but I really believe that many women back in the day stayed around for survival purposes, those who wanted to leave and couldn't becasue they were being taken care of by their husbands. Have you noticed for the last 40-50 years, there has been a gradual breakdown of the family unit. I believe this is systematic and has been done on purpose. It is a moral decay in society, right before our eyes. My father could afford to work, keep my mother at home, have kids, pay a mortgage (pay it off), have a car, and still save money for annual vacations. Those days are gone (for the average family living on one income).

Your right, divorce is a plague. Yes, financial pressure is a contributing factor but I believe the main cause of divorce is people do not know how to be good at being married. The divorce rate in the USA is almost 50%, think about that the next time your out and about. One out of ever two people you meet or see has been impacted by divorce. Husbands and wives need to make it a priority to model healthy marriages. If they don't we will continue to see the cycle continue for generations.

I want a partner, not a dependant. Even if I made £80 grand a year, I'd tell her to get a job at Burger King or SOMETHING. Imbalance? What imbalance? Seriously, you wouldn't be a good wife because you had a job?!
Well, it's nice to know jobs are the reason people don't stay married. I mean, it's not like millions of people find some way of dealing with work stress... Like oh I dunno... Talking to your partner. I mean, it's not like they'd love you or anything, right?

@mesmorino ok well if your wife gets a job and if things are 50 50 then you also need to cook and take care of the kids. If youd force your wife to work if you mad 80 grant a year then you should also be able to take care of the newborn and cook 3 course meals and clean. 50 / 50 everywhere.

@MrsBooker100 There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, it's idea that *only* women can do it that I do not like. I too would like to sit around at home all day and hang out with kids (with the wife working) but that's just not practical. Unless you're filthy rich, BOTH parents *need* to be working, and BOTH parents *need* to contribute to raising their children

Our society grew into 2 income households after WW2. During WW2 women were the main work force. The prices of everything just slowly went up so that 2 median incomes were needed just to keep pace. Religion also kept people together and overtime had less influence to do so. Devorce became acceptable and common. Stress levels of a two income household, kids and adults who had to have everything instead of just being happy living within their means. Welcome to the new Corperate America lol.

People just get married for the wrong reasons these days and most of the time it's for financial security and some people get married too damn young at 20 something with so many opportunities there is no reason to get married. Your 20's are the time to figure out your career, go to school, and have fun then get married in your 30's.

In 2003 , I was the bread winner with a wife and four children. My wife didn't work she stayed home and took care of the children. Needless to say she needed company cause I would work at night so her female friend would come over after I would leave. One year later she was a full flegded lesbien and thus divorced followed...

Your eyes so beautiful, My parents been marry for 14 years and divorce, my mom been divorce twice, However if i marry you, you could stay at home all day if you want ill treat you like a queen. Plus lot of young people practice cohabitation that's another reason too especially in the hood as everyone may call it.

We're always worrying about what is out of are control instead of dealing with what is in our control. Its like when someone has a car but doesnt tune it up regularly but then wonders why it stops running:/ All I can tell you is dont give up hope. I think the reason divorce is some common nowadays is because we have made our lives so complicated. Everything is so fast pace. We dont make time for our spirits/souls thus, as a complete being (body mind and soul) we're imbalanced! We dont make time to pray or meditate, we dont eat healthy, and we dont live in the moment.

The reason there is so much divorce nowadays is the same reason the world as a whole is all messed up; God is being removed more and more form our culture and society when He was the one who created marriage and it was meant to have the couple look to God for guidance. God is the architect of marriage, and He's the manual, but when the couple does not use the manual, they have no sense of direction and split up. Does not mean it will be perfect, but with God , you can make it through the storm.

Divorce rates were low 50- 60 years ago because it was considered taboo and it was something that you just couldn't do. trust me, most of those women were not happy. You husband could cheat, hit you, undermind you, etc and you just had to take it. There are many factors that contribute to the divorce rate including, money, cheating, spouse abuse, child abuse, child molestation, difference in ideas, desire, and personality, and more.

So, money is not the cure for divorce.
Excess money is actually a cause for divorce.
Keep in mind that divorce is mainly a American/European epidemic. There are societies that are able to sustain a marriage. Its not rocket science, marriage requires discipline, generosity, and mutual respect. All rare traits in our culture, which is why we fail.
We want instant gratification.

I like you Samaurrii, but i have to disagree with you here. In my opinioin a wife should ALWAYS be willing work and take care of the kids as well. Its 50/50. Thats all part of being a wife(and adult for that matter). Not doing so shows a sign of weakness. What if something happens to your husband? You would have no choice but to do both. I have no problem with taking care of my wife and children, but i do have a problem with my wife not feeling the same way. You cant avoid struggle, thats LIFE.

I would also add that there is nothing that prevents the woman who stays home to work from home... so the idea that both couples have to work to support the family shouldn't be a big issue so long the couples don't have an appetite for luxury that extends beyond their financial capabilities and so long as the wife exercises the option of working from home.

yeah... no probs suzi. like I said before, the work that you do as a stay at home mom is INFINITELY more important than some cushy, high-salaried office work that brings a lot of prestige. As a matter of fact, the work is even MORE important than the job of the presidency.
The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world... a child raised by his/her parent(s) is far different person than a child raised by the government (public schools) to be what the Gov want us 2 b

Actually, it is quite possible for the man to work and the woman to stay at home with the kids, but it's a matter of the couple choosing to live practically, and within their means.
The proliferation of divorce within this society is but indicative of the decaying value system in this society. Couples today tend to value selfishness over service, independence over inter-dependence, pleasures over duties and obligations, etc.... in other words, as imsatindoll just stated people are too SELFISH.

divorice....in my opinion....happens due to selfishness which is the opposite of love...if you love that person and want to marry the person you claim you love...you dont divorice...you dont do stuff that leads to divorice...cheating, abuse, choosing to not work out parenting, financial, and other silly issues....its suppose to be for better for worst, richer or poorer, sickness or health.....but everybody have a whats in it for me attitude and love doesnt work like that.

@BigC83Boss ...This is incorrect. The idea behind the feminist movement was indeed spurred by corporations and politicians. But, the reason was to get women into the workplace so they could generate more tax revenue and buy more product. Separating the family was the only way to accomplish that. And, women were more than happy to play along because they could not read into the real agenda. Notice, whenever politicians want something they go after women to get it. Women can't see what's in store.
