  • I am in no hurry to age, but I can't wait to reach retirement, so that I can play all day long, with cool projects like the ones you create! Thanks for sharing them with us.

  • @marshalllhiepler Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching and the comment.

  • hi, i am thinking of making a large scale put put in metal shop with a remote control rudder, how would a person make a large boiler(about 3 inches in diametor)

  • @charlesthedude Easy way is in my video "Easy Putt Putt Engine Build". Another of my videos shows many engine designs. Bigger is not necessarily better. Thanks for watching and the sub.

  • Probably. Thanks for watching.

  • This is awesome, would it go faster if the prop was smaller, on the back and in the water though?

  • a?

  • I think the next step is to make a bigger tank!

  • @Migueldeservantes Good idea. You can see it running in a larger tank in my video Part 15-RC Putt Putt Boat where it has the RC steering but not the prop. Looks like you have an interesting channel but it is really hard to read the print. Adjust opacity? Thanks for watching.

  • @puttputt4video Darrell You say you want more speed. Perhaps try the following: 1. Reconsider your 'action reaction' situation. You're probably sacrificing a lot of power to get the water back up in the system. Is that really necessary to qualify as a putt putt? And do you really CARE if you personally make the fasstest one? Or would you be interested in just mking a damn fas steam jet boat? The propulsion has LITTLE TO DO WITH RELEASING STEAM AGAINST THE WATER. Propulsion occurs because simila

  • @tommymorey Is part of your message missing? The challenge is making these engines run well and fast, comparatively. It is not a putt put engine if you change how it works. The steam does not exit the pipes. The water pulses back and forth like a piston. It is air pressure that moves the water back in. Conventional steam engines or turbines make a much faster boat but that is not my interest. Would you put an engine on your board and call it better? Learn more by watching my other videos. TTFN

  • @puttputt4video anyhow, with out really grasping the whole system like you have, still I offer the following:

  • @puttputt4video ok, you're hopping into a 6/8 or something to surf Tofino?!? YIKESSSSSS, I surfed Point Angeles a couple times and La Push ( actually trunked it and think I probably shouldn't have ' cause the very thought of getting into those kinds of temperatures sends me to hot shower down here in San Clemente by where I grew up, Laguna.

  • @Puttputt4video I really appreciate your patient replies. Why I asked is it seemed your speed demon wasn't putting, just zooming along silently. And with a bigboiler.

  • @puttputt4video I should clarify. Are you preloading the boiler with water, or is water being continuously sucked up... Boiled... Then discharged? Thank you. Over

  • @tommymorey Reply con'td.The cooled water vapour that is brought back into the boiler is then reheated into steam, and the cycle repeats. Once the engine is warmed up and "stabilizes", there is very little water, if any, in the boiler or the part of the tubes near the boiler. In pop pop boats with two or more tubes, the water is expelled from both tubes during the first phase of the cycle, and drawn in from both tubes during the second phase of the cycle.

  • @tommymorey Note three part reply. This is the basics. It would be nice if you know a way to make more power. People have been trying since 1890. Interesting group of favorites you have. Gotta go. Surf's up at Tofino. Google it if you are drawing a blank. Cheers.

  • @Puttputt4video hello. I'm LOVING your work. Thank you totally for sharing. Questions: are you the same Darell Canada that's built those George us bi planes? 2. Probably a dumb question but is all that's propelling these is the steam jetting out the back? Stay with me on this please, I think I ca give you much more speed for the same power input. Over, Tom

  • Thanks Tommy. Different Daryl. A pop pop boat is powered by a very simple external heat engine. This engine consists of a small boiler which is connected to an exhaust tube or tubes. The engine is first filled with water. When heat is applied to the boiler, water in the boiler turns into steam. The expanding steam pushes some of the water out the exhaust tube propelling the boat forward. The steam then condenses, creating a vacuum which draws water back in through the exhaust tube. See next.

  • that is pretty impressive

  • next progression mount the motor on top of servo for steering?

  • @grandaddyc Interesting idea.

  • ok, excuse me for my bad english! thank you very much!

  • Hello Luissindaco. Not sure that I understand your question. For the hot parts high temperature silver braze. For the cooler parts common lead/tin solder. Ask again if this is not what you were looking for. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • what kind of uses for welding pipes? thank you!...ah, nice and beautifull job!
