  • In the states you learn this stuff by getting screamed at; I bet both approaches are equally affective considering that both the Royal Navy sailors and USN sailors know how to salute.

  • Naval traditions (tarred hands etc) meant salute palm in, short way up and down - the army's method (which applies to raf, equally) would be dangerous in cramped conditions between decks. Bootnecks (RM) follow army instructions on land, and naval instructions when serving in a ship

  • Damn that guy that was getting inspected looked like he was about to freak out

  • army an raf salute palm out navy just like to be different

  • That's weird...

I'm an Australian Army Cadet and we were taught to the the 'Palm Out' Salute?

Does that mean that the Australian Army does the 'Palm Out' Salute too...

I figured as Australia is part of the Commonwealth, it followed the British Army so which salute does the British Army use???

    Please Help

  • @McNerd0402 It should still be the palm out salute....

  • hahaha funny

  • I wasn't aware British Army soldiers and The Royal Marines salute differently.

  • @chubbypickle11 the dont, the Navy only do the palm reverse-face salute.

  • DONT EYE FUCK ME MAGGOT!!

  • This seems a bit relaxed. The guy in the background a 0:25 is making a strange face, and the guy who the leader is correcting has sort of a smile o his face.

  • Dont forget the SBS either :)

  • Hmm... learned something today. Didn't know that the "palm out" salute is specific to the Royal Marines. Thanks for sharing :)

  • better show that palm, i dont recall you being undefeated in my history book....

  • I've heard the problem with the navy is many people only discover they don't like it until they are actually signed in and are on active duty and don't find out this whilst training and end up stuck in untill they are eligible for leave. IT very hard to tell if you will like this untill you are sent on active duty and then its often too late.

  • the po in this clip is my old drill instructor, Drake 13 03. sbs are part of the royal marines and are based in poole.

  • 0:26.... scared shitless.

  • omg funny

  • see now I dont ever rememeber getting uniforms like that....hmmm

  • ahhh hms raleigh drill shed, good times

  • Lol, aye. Best bit of the whole Navy for me, joining the Fleet was shite. :D

  • sas sbs training the same role diffrent

  • the SAS and the RM and two completely different regiments! And I'm in the Army

  • clarkee1438

The SAS are a regiment within the British army.

The SBS are an independent unit of the Royal Marines.

    Two very separate entities.

  • pardon me whats SBS?

  • The Special Boat Service (SBS) is the special forces unit of the British Royal Navy. The service's motto is "By Strength and Guile". It forms part of the United Kingdom Special Forces group, alongside the Special Air Service (SAS), Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR), Special Forces Support Group (SFSG) and 18 (UKSF) Signal Regiment. [3]

  • @wgordon8, I'd always assumed that the RM's were the senior SF unit in the RN?!!

  • @MrJeffreydunson SBS is not part of the navy in the same way that the SAS is not part of the army. They exist as a separate entity so that no one knows what they are doing.

  • @collins102, Thanks, for that bit of info. Cheers !!!

  • SAS Are Army, Royal Marine Commandos Are a division within the Royal Navy

  • Incorrect SASare administered by the army they are not army , same in regards to the SBS

  • sure youtube warrior

  • What the fuck are you talking about , you fucking window licker?

  • @livtyler83 SAS are tri service

  • @livtyler83 They are tri service, it's SBS thats navy, SAS usually brings in army recruits although nothing says they have to be army.

  • @livtyler83 and SBS

  • Aaah, what fun. If I was any good with electronics I wouldn't mind joining the Royal Navy.

  • @ Dieselpunk

But there are so many things you could do in the RN, not just electronics! Take a look around x] You might find something else you'd really enjoy doing!

  • US get shit done. but SAS in the British military is intense as fuck

  • royal marines would own US marines end of .

  • Haha...

  • question for you m8 , has the US military EVER won a war by them selves? i think not you have no foundation to base ur argument on just leave before you embarase your self with your unfounded patriotism , RULE BRITANIAAAAA!!!

  • lol his face was funny

wierd way to say the command though

  • I only got bollocked once by him, but he wasn't my instructor..

  • Lammest drill instructor I have ever seen.

  • LOL DUDE

  • lmao we need to send a USMC D.I. over to shape them up lmao that would be funny as hell

  • marines have got nothing on the british SAS dude. nor the french foreign legion

  • did I say they did? no I said we should send one over to show these soft brits how to shape men, or maybe a russian spetz natz commando

  • LOL you're dumb as fuck. Comparing infantry to special forces.. what a joker you are...SEALs/Rangers/Delta Force/Green Berets > SAS

    get used to it, punk.

  • SAS are the Royal marines lol after 3 year you learn a skiil like jungle warfare , snowwafe , airlwarfare and you have the SAS all SAS are royal marines look it up mate

  • @clarkee1438 hahahaha, what a tit.

  • MYBICEPTHURT shut the fuck up, if you had half a brain you would know he only acts like that for the fucking camera, i had a marine teaching me and no way was he nice about it

  • Wow if I see another American who thinks they are better than British. Well if the instructors arean't good enough how about so British drill

  • Watch ur fucking tounge mate!.... Military be a breeze! Firstly I agree, with this drill instructor being a bit nice... but thats the Royal Navy for you, Would like to see you saying its a breeze infront of a Royal Marine Regimental Sergeant Major! Or for that matter any British Army, RSM or CSM!.. American drill is frowned upon here!

  • In Great Britian they are more civilized than us, and the younger people have much more respect for thier seniors then we do in America, plus if you were ever in the military you would understand how important respect is between seniors and thier subordinates. In order to lead others you cannot drive them. You must earn the respect and confidence of your peers to be an effective leader - Daniel William Agha, Special Operations candidate for NSW.
