  • I don't even WANT to have babies, but I want to have his babies.

  • Love...

  • MY SINS WILL PROVOKE YOU.

  • anyone know what kind of violin he uses?

  • It's brown I think.

It's good you asked. It is all about the gear.

  • @etherealempress fiddle.

  • im stunned. and in love.

  • damn, this song is so sexy.

  • Agreed. I saw him perform this about four days ago and I was shaking. LOL!

  • he blatently is "all by himself" as the beginning riff he puts on a loop and then improvises and sings over it.

    HENCE THE FOOT PEDAL!!!!

  • damn he is sooooo amazing

his whole body just gets into this, you can see it move him. he's an amazing performing.

  • this song is sooooooooo sexy.

  • Anyone know what looping gear he uses?

  • At 5:00 you can see that his bow is breaking :S uh oh!

And at 5:10 ...I really, really don't get why people are laughing as if he were a stand-up comic :S

But, nevertheless, Andrew Bird amazes the poop outta me!

  • really? I just saw a couple broken hairs.

  • Oh, sorry, thats what I meant :P

  • very good musician and songwritter!thank you!!

  • This is really nice, such a lovely musician. And that voice. Ah..

  • Wow...this is so gorgeous. It seems like lately I keep running into artists and bands who can't play live worth salt, and because of that I've been hesitant to listen to -anyone- live, but...Andrew Bird, you've restored my faith in wonderful, live music.

  • I love this man. ;o)

  • Jeff Buckley is one of my favorites and Andrew Bird's voice, expressiveness and passion seem in the same vein.

  • Amazing

  • andrew is a musical wonder, i have been to 2 of his conserts and cant wait till he tours europe again.

ps: to all that cant apriciate his music, just keep it to your selfe no need to bother others with it

  • Hahaha! I haven't laughed this hard since the dog swallowed a tack!

But seriously. Regarding keeping things to yourself, I could say the same to you. I find it insatiably amusing that you've been watching video after video of Andrew Bird performances, and hating it! Oh, my, I'm laughing so hard, I think my abdomen has caught fire! But really, your insults are sheer genius. Thanks for contributing.

  • Although I think you're being a bit cynical and this post is ages ago, I'll have to probably agree with you if what you say is true. Just about every maestro and old master painter looks down on their work as not that good. Even though they are good, they'll never see it that way. So if you say he doesn't know how people listen to his crap, because he said that, then sweet. I guess you also stand the stance of the creator.

  • Replying on an one year old comment, but what the heck! -- Andrew Bird has himself expressed in interviews how he likes his own music and has even wrote on his twitter that he is afraid he likes his album "Noble Beast" a bit too much.

  • haha biggeryash needs to get a life, thats all im gonna say. gives him less words to talk shit about me too.

  • man stop doing drugs and posting comments on youtube

  • i knew it

  • Well, I guess the Suzuki method works.

Oh, and (*)iggeryash is out of his(/her/its) mind.

  • *melts*

    god I love his music...

  • what is truly nauseating is your lack of ability to leave an intelegent comment on such a beautiful song

  • you started a cult of iggery's we all want to follow in your foot steps

  • But anyways, I'm done with you,

    Have a good life :)

  • No, don't kid yurself, hyuk, hyuk, you're not done yet ! Thanks for the good life sentiments, you are a sweetheart, aren't you though ? You KNOW you can't stay away. It's part of my theory, that is mine, that you sense some good will come of associating with me. You are drawn to me like a magnet. What you're secretly thinking about me: you're not wrong !

  • So I vote anyone who thinks "tiggeryash", should stop posting negative comments and instead get a grip on life, click the thumbs up. :)

Let's see how many people are sick of this crap!

    haha

  • Whatever you want to say.

Since you have a degree in psychology*ahem*, you can diagnose his music. You can write a book about how the WHOLE WORLD should gang up and tear Andrew Bird's violin apart, `cause I'm sure tons of people would be interested in reading*DEATHLY COUGH*. I'd like to see you write about how the record companies shouldn't sell his music because it turns the "evil", whatever you want ~~!!~**TiGgEr~~!!~.

  • Now you're talking. Finally I get you over to my side. Come on sister, let's spread the news. Death Discs was written by a friend of mine by the way called Alan Clayson, from England.

  • Funny shit.

It's amazing how you are unable to comprehend sarcasm.

    What are you, a robot?

  • Thank you, but reservedly this time, nadineryland. I appreciate you are enjoying my humour, it's understandable, but please watch your potty mouth. I hate the BROWN word! I am pleased that you are amazed, but I don't understand why. Dumping scorn in an ironic way on others is not your forte. You probably think you're the sarky queen of the whole world, but you've missed the boat.sweetheart. Sarcasm isn't easy. Try being nice!

  • More like, why, Tigg3rDaSH, why. Why are you a fucking pathetic piece of shit?

  • Nice try ;)

  • Thank you, nadineryland, of course you are very welcome, and keep the positive attitude up. I just KNEW I was having a good influence on you. :) :o guess what that < is? : inflatable doll !

  • Damn. That was amazing! I wish I could play the violin like that.

  • if this was at western washington university, then i went to that concert. man. it looks like it. he is nucking futs.

  • oh andrew you're fucking my brain soo hard!

  • I've seen this guy twice live, once by himself and once with Dosh. Both times were amazing, and both times he played this amazing song. Pure genius.

  • I feel it in my stomach, so good. Passion, for me and him. Thanks you for what you're doing. This is much more beauty in the world.

  • too good

  • "Fucking amazing" does not do justice.

  • Guys... what you are seeing is the result of years of blood, tears, and sweat. He wasn't always so good. In fact, he was bloody awful and nervous the first time I saw him perform about 15 years ago in a small Irish Pub. He was so bad, I almost told him, "You might want to just stick with the violin."

  • I was here. It was probably one of the best shows I've ever seen.

  • my comment cannot possibly do this song or this man justice. simple amazingness: all bottled up. wow, genius.

  • just ridiculously talented he is...

  • damn you for being soooo easygoing.

  • sweet mother of pearl. I searched for this guy on a whim- for some reason his name was in my head. This is actually amazing. Genius holds a powerful and unmistakable presence...

  • I have watched this video approximately 50 times in the last week, and I implode a little more each time. Absolutely genius.

  • Best live performer I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of life performances. This man is god, god I say!

  • i was scared for a second i didnt realise he used a sampler to loop the intro bit....i shat myself at how he was gettin all that noise out of 1 violin!!this dudes blatently brilliant!!!violins one of the hardest instuments iv tried to play and he sounds as powerful as jeff buckley singing while playing it!!absolutly AMAZING!!how of i not heard of this man b4 now!!its like jeff on a violin and more inventive!!

  • i was here! you can see me in this video

  • Where was this Julcsa? Because I'm not sure, but think I was also there.

  • I just returned from seeing him in the flesh. One of the most amazing performances i have ever seen.

  • Was this at the beachland ballroom?

  • wow, wow.

  • When I first saw this video I nearly melted. Some tiny cells inside the pleasure part of my brain exploded, and I woke up on the floor ten minutes later still buzzing from the effect. If I could choose a comical yet somewhat sincere pick-up line to use on Andrew Bird, it would be to ask him to play me like he plays his violin.

  • This is one of the sexiest things I have ever seen- I saw him a couple of months ago and was AMAZED at how talented he is.

  • I could fall in love with the man.

  • speechless..

  • unbelievably talented.

  • I love the angle on this video. Poor thing looks like he was having some issues though, first the shoulder rest, then some bow strings.

Outstandingly talented. As always, I am left in awe.

  • Having your bow hair come out during a performance isn't a problem; it's a perfectly normal thing... afterwards you just yank it off. The shoulder rest, though.... that was a pretty awkward moment. The type of shoulder rest that he's using is also prone to popping off the violin while you're in the middle of playing, leading to even more awkward moments.

  • who is that guy staring up at him? he should tell him to stop it.

  • amazing

  • wow

  • I just discovered this guy last month. I've downloaded everything possible (emusic.com) and I need more...original and talented

  • Probably my favorite thing I've seen done with a violin. I agree thumperings, bird=genius.

  • bird is genius

  • geez, is he talented or what.
