  • That is an extremely beautiful Renaissance Bass. Do you always play in the 6ft register, or does it just depend on the piece?

  • Incredible playing Gentlemen, excellent piece - inspirational, many thanks!

  • great

  • KE BRAVI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SBAV

  • This is vest music that my keeping running head. Denguras! sound!

  • Hey! There actual score is in A minor. Maybe there's something wrong with the recording or they just decided to go for a challenge in Ab minor.

  • @hugomak3 They used the traditional tuning of A=415.

  • @TheMusicmajorman

The "traditional" tuning of this music should have been A=466 hz not 415. They use baroque recorders in 415hz here instead of renaissanceconsortinstruments in 466 what would be more "historical".

  • They added a lot of extra ornaments to this piece and made the first repeat sound much different than the first time around. I have the music to this and also realized that they skipped the second ending, however they are very well ballanced and the soprano makes the high Ab and A at 3:29 sound beautifull.

  • So do I !

  • Very good performance!

  • I had good mood and he liked them... but when I have not I have it so expensive!

  • @EvaBartosova do you ever stop talking!!!!!?

  • 1 for 20 EUR and second for 5 pics I bought and prize of my pics when I would be satisfied is 20 000 000 EUR per one oil! lol

  • I also wondered that they sold me recorder as in many main shops they said they have none...but I do not believe or think it is evil! From web I bought all good recorders I have!

  • 400 000 people cca is unemployment from 5 milions and just I am not stupid, and they maybe also as nobody would buy excpensive as many people have not opportunities, I try to order concert or make exhibition, but I am not so evil that they would allow me it often!

  • And it is Lidl music+T and S Poland and it is in licence of Mollenhauer and they have most cheap school version for cca 61 EUR, but this was in shop cca 33 only and I bought for cheaper sum on advertisement as no recorders I ever saw in this country except very evil and this is good piece sold for cheap sum, really good recorder! Very good sound and exactly tuned, good colour...because I hesitate here would anyone usualy buy expensive as this is low buy power country

  • I bought two pieces and prize was great, because I bought one of them for two oil paintings, one acryl and two on order oil and dry pastels. So five pics for one and same I bought just same time before this for some prize and is good and wooden, you can listen among my videos. I think good soprano, Josef Lidl music and just as one found trumpet, I found excellent recorder for me!

  • Ahhh the way that guy starts off the tumbling down the notes in the second half is excellent.

  • what's that big recorder called?

  • The big one is a bass recorder. The quartet consists of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass recorders.

  • But shop where was sold Aulos is abolished several years. Only in one shop I saw Yamahas 24B in the capital of our country. In other showed me flute, but ordered Yamahas only. Sad.

  • Plastic and wooden or wooden imitation recorder are such, when same person plays on it, wooden or wooden imitation is more perfect than Yamaha 24B, but same person plays it, but on one can look as making mistakes and problem is in recorder... art is to use it for some songs to reach some effects...therefore I invite wooden recorders or imitation of wooden which are perfect! (It shows evil mic / headphones for example which recorder is good)

  • Wooden recorder when is recorded by evil microphone sounds better and no problems are made... Yamaha 24B makes sometimes problems when is recorded by evil mic when the mic does not reach the high sound, on wooden is more difficult to play than to Yamaha which is sensitive and easy to play. But wooden is perfect sometimes in fingering that is better and is perfect. How much expensive is recorder so better sound in perfectness caused only by recorder. On Yamaha is art to play perfectly some songs.

  • This song as also others has to be listened by students or artists to keep tradition as also other ones as it would be possible play by another way... really good it is on web, because it would die traditions and people would play by other way...many such songs exists which is better to listen first. This is so nice that is virtuoso and so nice on wooden recorder... some wooden recorders have bells sound and some not...as bells...I use them as alt, but they are sopran, I use for backround.

  • But I saw only Yamahas 24B in shops and only in one Aulos the most cheap ones. I bought through internet Aulos, most expensive and whole packet cost 36 EUR... Here are in shops probably no recorders! Except Yamahas 24B. Almost no sheets. In books is nothings written what I would add to book on some normal level. No theories.

  • Really interesting is this recorder of sopran chosen for solo...very intersting...I like changes and this is great harmony! I believe always in many variants on artists are good, when are they top artists as FRQ.

  • 5 stars I gave you. I thought that it is difficult to learn this song as looks very virtuoso and is and it suddenly went after I several songs learned. Immediately it goes. This is very virtuoso song and recorder is very interesting this sound. I like this variant also... which is based on recorder and backround...

  • Am I the Only one that thinks that recorders are EPIC?

people should understand that the music is not only an instrument well played or a choise of a "good" instrument...it comes from your heart, your soul and your mind...no matter what instrument you play, if you know what music really is...it will be epic like this one and so many others...

  • What brand of bass recorder are you playing on. ? It really speaks.

  • I think it's sad that most people think the recorder is either a toy or an easy instrument to play, It's neither!

Like any musical instrument takes lots of practice and skill to play it right.

But, it is a very affordable instrument making it easier for students to buy one.

Cheers to all the recorder players!!!

  • I don't know of cheap. A good beginners instrument made of wood starts at approx. € 200. Same as a Yamaha YFL-211 flute. So, I wouldn't call it exactly cheap. The handmade instruments start at somewhat € 800 with the price rising the more wood there is. And mostly, a recorder player plays the complete set, not just one of them. And the set (Sopranino, Sopran, Tenor, Alto etc.) goes by 7 different instruments.

  • Absolutely, mine wasn't cheap at all.

but, you can find some that are $15.00 or $20.00 so they're affordable for students...

and you're right, there are I think 8 different ones...counting bass and conterbass :D

  • Recorders are not so expensive than flutes. I saw some wooden for 7 EUR but not in my country... I bought most expensive Aulos - wooden imitation similar sound to this... 32-42 EUR... but Yamaha most sold 24B is only cca 8-10 EUR is very sensitive instrument and on wooden is not visible some kind of touching and choise of instrument depends also on it what only accident, because man is tired of one recorder... art is usually based on accidents or not...only artist knows if something was goal.

  • Sorry, but you have no Idea ;) If you want a real good recorder you will have to pay more than 1000Euros for a soprano . The lower ones will cost a lot more!

I just bought my girlfriend a alto recorder. It was an ensemble instrument (not as seen here: a solo instrument) and it was about 200Euro...Nevertheless flutes are also quiet expensive :)

  • i like the beginning

  • it's a pity that the recorder hardly finds a place in modern music programs, people just don't appreciate it enough, i mean, most of them don't know how beautiful renaissance and barock music sounds played on recorders, which were the original instruments... maybe and hopefully, some day, it will get back it's old glamour!

  • meh and some friends r onna make a recorder quartet, its gonna be soo cool :D im excited, were getting 1 of each from sapranino- bass

on an unrelated note i was amzed wen u said bartok, cause i didnt no much pplz new of good ol bera, we had her sting quartet 4 movment 5 adn it was great

  • By modern music, what are you referring to?

But yes, I agree it's not appreciated enough because most people only think of the plastic ones back at school which music teacher give to amuse children. Or the second thought of a recorder doesn't come in the first place.

  • @fieldgen

I play in a prog-metal band, and I play recorder on some parts.

  • @fieldgen

People just don't write music for it anymore. But I agree that it sounds wonderful.

  • @whatshendrix It's wrong. You can find example of modern recorder music on youtube.

  • @ogechter

I know. My point was that contemporary composers rarely write such music.

  • @fieldgen well said, that's how i feel too as a recorder player myself ....

such a beautiful sound that slips from people's appriciation some how. and that's a real pity , hopfuly time will prove to do justice .

  • @fieldgen hey dude, its spelled baroque. anyway, i agree. youd like my mom.

  • @fieldgen I found that they're still quite popupar in Germany. I saw a few student recorder ensembles.

  • and people assume its a childs toy.. incredable!

  • Beautiful!

  • this is aboslutely amazing... and the video quality is amazing... its something rarely found in concerts on youtube

  • I wished i could play near as good as them. I just got a new recorder. It's sounds beautifull. But the way they play, the passion, the skills. wow.

  • This video makes me want to fish out my old recorder from 4th grade and learn to play it all over again. :D

  • This is an outstanding virtuoso piece of the 17th century, played with consummate skill and musicianship by the world's leading recorder consort. Bravo! I cannot recommend this group too highly - buy their CDs and try to see them in concert if possible!
