I think thats where the Gears of War developers thought of the idea of the locust.

Its because in real life, the locust are known to have swarms that black out the sun and come in large numbers. And once they finish inhabiting their land, they move on to destroy more lands.

Same thing with the game Gears of War. The locust are finished inhabiting the underground habitat, and now they're moving on to destroy and inhabit more lands.

Pretty amazing concept if you ask me.
