Less that 5% of that 10% had any idea that Fairtax pretends to get half of government revenue -- by taxing the government.

Of those -- less than 5 % realized Fairtax would be the highest sales tax on earth.

Of those, no one knew Fairtax applied to your car insurance and utilities.

The current tax system is so full of loop holes, so unfair & so wasteful, I don't care if the Fair Tax or Flat Tax aren't perfect. I just think either one would be an improvement over the bloated mess we currently have. Better to get something that's half way good than nothing at all!

The FairTax is the best way to fund the federal govt. But if people would read the bill (and/or the book), they wouldn't waste our time here making uninformed remarks. The FairTax is the way to go. And we are gaining ground. One day it will happen. It has to. Its the only real way to gain control of these politicians who seem to have forgotten who it is they are supposed to represent.

Fair tax is an oximoron. The whole purpose of tax is to encourage the good thing and mitigate the bad. Over production is the worst unsustainable happening in our materialistic world. Fair tax would be like lighter fluid to an already lit BBQ. We need more progressive tax. Take 20% of GDP and make the first dollar every one earns tax free and the Millionth dollar 100% tax and there after.

So what would people's motivation be to achieve, work hard and prosper under a system like that? Punishing achievement? The more they earn the more they pay? Why would anyone do anything to make more jobs or grow a business when they'll see less of what they earn? Sounds like the system we have now, and nobody but politicians and lobbyists like this one.

Think about it. 350 million people paying zero tax on the first dollar earned. How would health, education, defence and justice be paid for. the govenment would rely on people working hard to earn more than one dollar. But what good it is to a homeless person if you have 300 billionairs or 600. Promote marriage being harder to enter not devorce easyer and a fine for sex outside marriage. All the rich have an incentive to work hard to keep out of debters prison for adultary.
