I think the fourth sounded cool - after a certain amount of time you get tired of playing the same old songs over and over again. I noticed the 2nd drum break actually fit into a time signature, unlike on the cd. . .
Great video, great song. This song should have won the grammy for best instrumental performance, but of course the grammy morons gave the award to Springsteen. Bruce and his band are amateur musicians compared to Rush!
Congrats on the Grammy Nomination! RUSH has been nominated for a 2008 Grammy in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category for "Malignant Narcissism." Congrats to the boys!
Was at the show tonight, 2nd row, Geddy's side. Mal Nar is quite a highlight. A very intense 2 minutes. Geddy rocks beyond belief. Thanks for posting this video! :)
I had never seen Geddy taking out so many different basses in a single concert.. he had 3 different kinds of Geddy's Fenders, a Rickenbacker to play Bangkok, and this masterpiece of music engenieering: a Jaco Pastorius Replica bass, and it is a fretless.
the first time i heard geddy cuss was the little interview about the evolution of his basses and he said "alex was dealing with some legal....bullshit" i was shocked.
Yup. I first saw them in Stafford, England in 1979 and have seen them 9 or 10 times since, including Rotterdam on the 2004 tour, and Sheffield and Helsinki in the 2007 tour.
They just keep getting better and better. Awesome.

It's a line from Team America: World Police. All of them (Geddy, Alex and Neil) are all big fans of Trey Parker and Mat Stone.

He says "fucking nails" on the Rio DVD documentary.
Unrelated: I hate to say this, but his intonation isn't so good on the fretless.

I saw them last week and this song was definitely the best performance of the night, but that's because they followed it up with a solo from Peart.

This is the best vid I've found to showcase Geddy's tone.
You didn't happen to get a vid of "Bangkok" with Ged's Rick did you?
CayceG 4 years ago
There is one from the atlanta show. It shows a glimpse only at first of the RICK...but a welcome glimpse it is!!!
Spartacus2112 4 years ago
Yeah, I've seen all the vids already up. None of them have good audio for the bass.
