Thank you very much! And thanks to banshee511. I am a visual artist and amateur pianist and I love all kinds of music. I prefer classical but this crossover interpretation is great! For people that just like classical there is David Garrett's new CD Legacy. I have been playing it over and over again!
it's absolutely the most kitsch of music i ever heard, it's unexcusable, in a mess...david garrett seems to be a techno robot... haha, junk music! sarasate deserves more and better than this circus.
@Syantaa I AGREE.....THE BEST WAY TO LISTEN TO THIS PIECE IS WITH JUST A PIANO AND VIOLIN; BUT THIS DOES NOT TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM THE VIRTUOSITY OF THIS GUY......WHAT A FANTASTIC HABILITY!!
Escucha a Gil Shaham o Midori Goto. Mil veces mejor, y es la misma pieza
The difference between Midori and David is that David was playing with a rock band and didn't have an accompanist who could make tempi changes easily. It was a straight-through performance of perfection. Midori gets a little rough with the intonation also at 2:24-2:25. She also slows down unnaturally. Otherwise, her phrasing is better, but only because she was one-on-one with the pianist and didn't have to worry about playing with a band. Here, David is the best.
@hjlee424 i thought a violinist is AT LEAST supposed to play the note at the right pitch.
Or you just appreciate him so much that you cannot even listen to this piece fairly ?
i don't judge the way he perform but he actually needs more practise on violin and definitely needs to improve his BASIC skills . That's all for me. And would you please calm down a little bit?
@amourkayanyan I found out david garrett recently through youtube and he appears to be pretty famous and a great violinist. Although he is a professional, mistakes can happen because he is not a robot. and by the way he plays these difficult passages, i am pretty sure he practices a lot....lol and has a lot of BASIC skills...
I ike how he takes other work and makes them his own, just like any other artist out there who samples songs that were done a long time ago. I think with him blending classical with rock is gaining a new audience. He is an excellent player, and for those who say he is ruining classical music can go to another channel where only classical music is being played. :-)
For all those who say something like "you are ruining classical music": I'm a classical violinist. There is no set definition of classical music. He is an excellent player, and he is giving a new twist to a classic. This doesn't make him or his audience stupid. Just enjoy the performance.
My absolute favorite played by David and the best interpretation of Zapateado by anyone...thank you Rose for posting and the good sound!!! And my 4 year old granddaughter loves it too together with David's Carnival de Venice. Thank you David for touching my soul with your playing!!!
wow that sounds awful. idont like david garrett cuz 1)he is making classical music for stupid audience 2) stupid people like him, i dont like what stuoid peple like.
@barbara4221 It's no measure of stupidity. It is terrible that it is acceptable to drastically alter an artwork in order to make it appeal to a greater audience. Imagine re-painting Picassos in order to make them appeal to school children. Composers intend to have their works interpreted by the performers, but Sarasate surely never envisioned a violinist changing the structure, tone, instrumentation, etc. Let's not call it "ruined classical music". Lets just not call it classical music at all.
@246trinitrotoluene --True..but it's amazing..every note is captured. I'm amazed at all the talent I hear on classical radio station out of Boston, MA...amazing...I'm teaching myself "The Irish Washerwoman"--I hate looking at the paper..so I'm just doing by ear.--Joni
@Lennox0902 He's such a fuking waste of talent and that stradivari, such a waste in hands of that (him), have a guiness record won't make him the greatest violinist, never. You should listen Perlmann dude, or Heifetz... if you really apreciate romanticism or (in general) classical music, you'd note how stupid is your coment. Sorry, isn't just an opinion from me. Think about it. Greetings.
@lalalino100 Wooow mrs. Clever, i didn't know that brains were needed ¬¬ idiot. Who said "i love music" shit head, educate yourself and avoid show how shameful you could be, smooth brain haha. @noonescrying .... U cannot compare david with those wonderful violinist like Perlman or heifez... Even Esther kim plays better than him!!! ^.^ (Playing not according to what the composer's want... tat's David Garreth)
*** Maybe they will say... yeah becoz he plays with his style.... lame excuses***
@waikikit2 Well, you're right about that, but in matter of violin music and the works he's playing, is awfull how he plays (musicly), and saying he's wonderful or incredible or stuff like that make so much disapointing bout that personn. Greetings

the drum beat somehow ruined the original musicality...though in some places the drums are quite dramatic and add color to the piece.

Look up "midori zapateado".. best i've ever heard perform it. Midori was a student of DeLay who taught Itsak. Itsak was David's teacher.
