I remember when Dick Clark played the flip side "Problems" on American Bandstand he said. "The problem with that record is which side to play. Let us know what you think." At first the radio stations in Buffalo, NY played both sides and I thought it was going to be another huge doubled-sided hit for them but that was not to be in the US. However, both sides made it to Number 5 in Toronto, Canada. This was my mother's favorite Everly ballad.
As a songwriter of no regard to date may I please share how blessed I was to have sat across the desk from Del Bryant (BMI) in Nashville back when, let's just say, I was younger? Check the discography of his parents, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, who wrote not only this song, but so many of the Everly Brothers great hits...bless them all. Only two Everlys but somehow they sound like more...love their early albums backed by Chet Atkins and others...we still had music instead of noise...Tunesmith
@timminsmeet Yes, I was fourteen when this came out in 1958, but I don't remember it. Several years ago I purchased a CD of the Everly Brothers' songs. This tune was on the disc, and I did as little research about the Everly Bros. and their many pop hits. I was high school student during the years of doo-woppin', sock hoppin' dance music...the years of "Leave it to Beaver", "Donna Reed" & "My Three Sons" on TV. Girls wearing crinolines under their circle skirts and ultra-flat Capezio shoes.
One of the most beautiful songs ive ever heard. Buddy Holly was a huge fan of the Everlys and their harmonies formed the framework for the Beatles. In my opinion, the greatest harmonies of all time.
Thanks for the post. This is one of my favorite Everly Brothers songs and as you said it hadn't been posted on You Tube.Great song by the great Everly Brothers.
Yo los oí por primera vez, en radio por supuesto, en 1991. Y esta canción estaba en The Fabulous Style of The Everly Brothers, compilación que salió en 1960 y que yo compré en 1994.
Sweet memories...no one could harmonize like the Everly's.

Simply exquisite. Another underrated and definitely underplayed song from 1958. It spent a week on the pop music charts and then disappeared.
It's a sweet song to hear on a car's radio while driving with your sweetheart down a quiet country road at night.

It is amazing that these contemporaries of Elvis and Buddy Holly are still performing and going strong. Great harmonies!
