  • This is the laptop i have the only problem ive experienced in my 4 years of having it is :

    1. Power cable burned out once. (Free repair because of warranty)

    2. 1 Dead pixel (not a big deal at alll)

    3. The screen has come loose and is kind of floppy. (remember 4 years)

  • can any of you guys tell me if the video card for this laptop can be upgraded, i have this laptop and the video is an ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics. I've been playing SWTOR on it with all the settings turned to low and my framerate is still undesirable to say the least :(

  • does it have a sound card? PLEASE answer

  • hey i have the same laptop and i still havent found out how to enable the bluetooth can you help me out. please send me a personal message if possible

  • I got this laptop. If you're using it to use facebook and msn and all that kind of things, then it's good, but if you want to get more serious, like using programs that require fast processes and all that kind of stuff then do not get it, I actually have problems with it due to power problems and I had to whip it because it was going slow too.

  • @TheKevonR yes but it requires removing some stuff to get to it.. mine broke and i had to remake my button

  • @ducan33303 i have the Gateway NV53 Red. its beens EXCELLENT! I love the gateway my back up and the gateway restore. Its lets you reinstall the OS without having to loose your user data! great laptop. Only complaint is that after 4 months of having it, i have a spot in the corner (luckily) of the screen that is just a bit brighter than everything... especially noticeable on white... BestBuy said that they couldn't do anything about it. 6 months later and it hasn't spread. Great Computer.

  • What does the P touch button do? is there an alternate way to power on the laptop? the power button no longer seems to work on mine.

  • @ahmalala go to gateway's website or go to your start menu and open Gateway Recovery Management, and go to download drivers and find the driver for the Customizable Button I.E. the "P" button

  • This laptop is great. It does things fairly well and most games. Aside from the graphics card, the other hardware are not much of a setback for gaming. You can always expand the RAM.

The biggest dislike I have is overheating. I sometimes get 80~90C for putting it directly on a wood surface table and then it shuts down on me. (This is very rare but it did happen)

  • where is part 2???

  • How good would it be with gaming?

  • how to put bluetooth in this laptop?

  • @khoikn166 mine get very hot (~85C) :(((((((((((

  • What temperature the CPU on this laptop please

Mine is getting over 85C most of the time, I doubt this is normal temperature right ?

  • does anyone know how to open the webcam? i forgot how

  • @gtarhero you can use the software who come with it show a small autohide GUI, or try using skype ...

  • @khoikn166

Try putting a pillow underneath or just taking it off of your lap.

  • @CreamerMusic WHOA NO! That would block the vents and cause the GPU to melt off the PC board. If it's burning your lap, buy a $10 cooling pad. :)

I would say that with this keyboard, my typing speed is cut at least by half.

    - You can hardly call this multi-touch. Perhaps all Windows 7 multi-touch laptops are this bad, but this one is indeed very bad. To scroll, you're going to have to line up to of your fingers horizontally, press down hard, then watch as the window attempts to follow your motion in a jerky, limping drag. Anyone who has used a Mac will be amazed at how cheap and inaccurate it is.

After putting maybe 20 hours into this laptop, I have some criticism apparently absent from this video:

    - The keyboard is awful! With this NV series, as well as some of their other newer models, Gateway is opting with a completely flat, space-lacking keyboard design that makes typing truly a chore. You can get used to it eventually to minimize typos, but you're never going to be comfortable with it. At first, you cannot type a word without staring at the keyboard in a well-lit room. ...

  • I Can Play Combat Arms On It

  • dude whats the difference betwin gameway nv52 and nv54?

  • Looks like the Macbook has some competition.

  • I'm a laptop tech and work on gateway. While the stuff I work on is usually just out of the 1 year warranty, I do typically get some new ones that either have to be quoted or facilitated to gateway (acer). I thought it might be worth mentioning that gateway is now owned by acer. In fact all the new gateways are acers as well as this one. You'll probably run into some problems if you take the serial # off that laptop and tried to use it on gateways website. The biggest downside of acer imo is..

  • their customer support. Calling Acer to send your laptop in for repair is a like pulling teeth. As far as that model goes I haven't run into it yet. Which is probably a good thing.

  • Thanks for the info. I own another Acer laptop in addition to this one and I've never had any issues with needing to use the warranty luckily, but I do know where you're coming from. My other two and a half year old Acer is absolutely falling apart now, the screen backing busted, the power button broke, the Wi-Fi is spotty and I'm on my third power cable. Thankfully this one is totally solid so far.

  • do u know hot to set u the bluetooth

  • Actually the NV52 (or at least mine) doesn't have Bluetooth. Which is odd, as it DOES have a button for Bluetooth (which does nothing) as well as a hotkey for it.

  • @duncan33303 yu right...

  • @duncan33303 I was wondering why it had the bluetooth sign, cus I dont see

    it in device manager.

  • @MikeDole1 the NV52 doesn't have Bluetooth. My NV53 does though. its custom ordered. :)

  • @TheNJPranks My NV52 has bluetooth connectivity 0.0

  • @OutlawAirsoftPA haha :)

  • magalhães

  • how much was it?

  • I paid $450 in October and it came with Vista (with a free upgrade to Windows 7). Right now I believe it costs $480 with Windows 7 preinstalled, although occasionally you can find it cheaper than that.

  • @duncan33303 Would you suggest this computer to a student? Such as myself.

  • Almost definitely. It's a great computer all around, I even can do HD video editing on it. The only things are it's not great at playing newer games and the battery life isn't amazing (anywhere between two and three hours depending on what you're doing). As long as you don't like to play the latest PC games or need it to last a long time it's a great computer.

  • Thank you every much!

and yes i bought this great laptop because you :D so Thanks worth every penny!

    keep up the great great!!

  • you should get sponsored lol this is a great review also mostly positive :)

  • Thanks haha. Yeah it was mostly positive but I really have nothing to complain about the hardware of the laptop, everything is great. The performance isn't amazing which is about my only complaint, but that's for part two.

  • nice vid

  • Thanks!

  • You catch Phrase "lets get this one started"

    -love it.

  • Haha hanks! I've come up with a lot of them actually. Not really sure if that's a good thing or not come to think of it. :O

  • i forgot "Hey guys what is up"

  • lol yeah. I just came up with that one day and it just sort of stuck haha.

  • can i haz your laptop plz lol jk

  • Sure lol.

  • lol

  • Great review!

  • Thanks!
