Some people have such low self-respect, that they think that having a boyfriend and keeping one is the most important. They don't care what they do or have to do, just to keep him. Even if that means being abused. If you beat up the boyfriend (Which is the right thing to do) then the girl feels like she lost her boyfriend, and feels like she's worthless. That's the most common reason about these kinds of situations. If anyone does see this happening, stand up for the girl, no matter what.

The Victim will always take the blame for the abuse because they feel they caused the reaction of the abusers behavior. And most abusers ( men or women) blame the victim for their abuse. In this case it probably went something like she reached for the phone and he pushed her away forcefully giving her pain and she started attacking him back and then it ended up beating her, but his thought process would be it was her fault because she made him do it.... Perhaps, but to me, someone beating me, to that extent, that's the high sign that it's time to break up. I believe there's also a self-esteem issue going on. But she made that choice to get back with him, and if he is to beat her again, forgive me if I'm not that sympathetic. She's an adult, and she needs to be treated as such. As a guy, when we do dumb things, we're punished, when women do similar dumb things, they get sympathy and leniency, even if that act is murder.

Yes, you're right. But, at its core, my message is for her to get out of that relationship. I've seen and known about abusive relationships, ones in which the victims were both men and women. But I do tend to think that women more have that "I still love him" mentality. My words may sound gruff and without compassion, but I do care for victims, and Rihanna having been beaten that badly, for her own sake, she needs to get out. And we can't protect someone who chooses to go back to an abuser.
